They are beating a dead horse when it comes to higher education. The last few years I was in I don't remember any of the young people who listen to this nonsense. They all went on past high school and got degrees or went to trade school. I knew a few who was getting college credits while still in high school. I guess the GB keeps up this crap because if one of the young ones screws up in some way during the time they was getting a degree in something the GB has something to point their finger at and say I told you so. Then they can have another WT study on how bad higher education is. Totally ADD

Another bash at education - wt13 9/15
by Splash inpage 20:.
the unwary may adopt the same view of theocratic arrangements.
they may be unwilling to go along with congregation procedures and may even complain about anything not to their liking.

Former Long Time Elder - Judicial Committees
by James Jackson inwhen i first was appointed as an elder, i could not wait to be on a judicial committee.
it semed like most hearings invovled middle age men and women cheating on their mates because either they had married early or felt that were being neglected by their mate.
most times i felt i need to take a long hot shower after a hearing.. the toughest part was seeing these sweet young children grow up in "the truth", and now you are about to judge their future based on their repentance.

I was on to many of those committees. After I learned the TATT I worked hard to stay off committees and worked harder to step down as a elder. Even worked harder to get out completly. Now I know everyone has diffrent problem concerning this but one day you may find yourself back up into a corner with no way out. I feel sorry for you for what you must be going through. Been there done that. Take care of yourself. Totally ADD

a change the society is going to make on Thursday night meetings, can someone confirm this for me?
by Truth and Justice inmy mother gets a call from a dear friend in the midwest.
and this friend begins to tell my mom that her kids who attend congregations in california were told that there "thursday night meeting" or the "theocratic ministry school" is being somewhat cancelled, and that it will be considered "family night".
this would start sometime in the next couple of months.. the reason for this change is to entice the younger generation, because there is a dramatic decrease in attendence at the meetings, and that this in some way would help them to have more interest.. what are your thoughts?

Maybe the new meeting will help husband and wife to better brain wash their kids in the WT crap. I can see it now father and son demo. "Now son your mother and I are concern about your self-abuse habit. But dad it feels good and I can't seem to stop. Will son you know the WT gives us all the imformation we need to stop such harmful habits like this. But dad I don't think I can stop. Will son let's see what the lastest WT our only true source of godly imformation has to say. Let's see. Oh here it is. The Wt says don't think such sinful thoughts and you could go blind and become gay at any minute. Also the time you spend self-abusing yourself you could be out in the door to door work pushing our maz. As you know we have dumb them down to were a 1st grader can read them. So son what do you think of all this imformation. Will dad I think I should be more careful about all this after all I don't want to go blind and become gay or maybe..... no I don't want to be gay. And I could spend more time in field service that way I won't get a hard on all the time. It would best though I work with guys only like brother so and so I know he was a child abuser at one time but according to the WT he can changed. That's the spirit son now lets go watch a movie together." Everybody claps and feels so good that they have god's blessings. Is that what they are talking about. Totally ADD

According to the GB mindnumbed Yes they would. For those resurrected it is a life like a robot. Human feelings would just get in the way. It's good to a survivor of the Big A. You get to keep your human feelings. LOL Totally ADD

Any JWs on here that still believe?
by cognac init would be nice to start a thread with those people to reason things over in the bible.
no name calling, no putting others down, etc.
it would be nice to show this to my husband without him seeing things like, "if you were a real jw, you would not be on here to begin with.

Does this mean I can't call the WT a cult anymore? If it mean I can't and it will help others to get out I will do it. Or by calling the WT a cult even though that is a in your face statement does it not help others to think or is that to harsh for a new lurker who is lurking for the first time.? Totally ADD

For 7 years my wife and I lived in North FL. Far diffrent than were we lived in the Tampa Bay area. We was right in the middle of the old south. Because I am white other white people that I didn't even know would make racist comments to me about black people. I would then turn to them and say careful what you say then I would take my wallet out and show them my two black grandchildren. It seems to me many while people in the south do suffer with extreme racism. It is like a disease with them. Totally ADD

The Apostle Paul VS. Jesus Christ---Were They On The Same Page?
by minimus inif you believe in the bible, it's hard to reconcile that paul acted very christlike.
he was always instituting rules and opinions that might be construed as rather harsh.
christ on the other hand exuded love.. do you think they both had the same views in handling matters with people?.

Was not Paul raised in the religious part of the jewish system. He knew all the laws and how to work them to prove his point. Like you cofty I use to think Jesus was all about love and that love should rule what each person should do. But Paul came in and started writing rules on how to govern that love. Soon there was many books of do's and don'ts were Jesus taught love should rule all we do. I don't think Jesus and Paul were on the same page. Paul is like todays GB who just loves to write rules and say it is from Jesus Christ I mean Jehovah. GB does not recognise Jesus any more. LOL Totally ADD

Price gouging after natural disasters ... where should capitalism end?
by Simon ini'm sure you're all getting bored by my discussion of the recent 2013 flooding in southern alberta and flood insurance but as you can imagine it's on everyone's mind here right now.. the latest issue in the news now is price gouging and overcharging after a natural disaster.. some claim to have been overcharged by people profiteering after the floods.. some of the cases seem like misunderstandings - if you go to a 7/11 that normally sells bottled water individually and you want to buy a whole flat of it, i don't think you should suddenly expect costco prices for it.. but others do seem like they are taking advantage ... or are they?.
one could argue that high prices will smooth out demand and prevent greedy people from stockpiling more than they need that they may otherwise buy and hoard.. isn't it the ultimate manifestation of free-market economics, sullply and demand to set the price?
capitalism at work?.

Price gouging was common in FL after a hurricane hits. FL finally had to have laws passed to fine those caught price gouging during those hard times. Totally ADD

Invites, Parking and the DC - a true laughable story
by wizzstick ini'm in a major uk city, and we're assigned to an out of city location for our district convention.. to set the scene this site is off a busy motorway (freeway).
it's a football (soccer) stadium.
there is nothing around aside from one petrol (gas) station which also has a tiny supermarket in it.

Correct Blondie. It was the local congregation that left the tract but the DC is about 300 miles away from us. Sorry to all if I mislead you. I drive my wife crazy sometimes because as she say I presume people know what I am talking about. Totally ADD
