Interesting quote from the DC
by GoodGuyGreg ini don't know if anybody else has mentioned this, but i'm currently at a dc in sweden, and this morning, during the symposium on different kinds of service, it was mentioned that 40% of baptisms are the result of informal witnessing.
if you add the number of baptisms of children of jw parents to this, how many are left that are baptized as a result of the door-to-door work?
doesn't sound very effective at all....

In the last 6 months I have asked serveral of our new friends if when a JW's came to their door did they know what there message was or purpose? The answer I would always get was " no" or "I thought they was trying to sell me a maz." or " they did not have a clue what they was talking about." When I told them what the message was they was all amazed and did not hear that from any of the JW's. This is one big reason that D2D work does not work. As far as that 40% figure. That's just a bunch of you know what. Totally ADD

Don't You Have Faith??????
by TOTH inawhile back i posted about my wife's father passing away.
despite her not attending meetings or even the memorial in quite some time, she and her father were always very close.
he understood her condition and did not fault her for not attending or not being active.

Sorry to hear this TOTH. My wife and I went through the same thing when her parents died (but they was not in the cult). No one hardly said anything to her. It was like she was suppose to be made of stone with no feelings. Then with my father and our very close friend we took care of in our home for 15 years. Again we got more encouragement from so called worldly people that the witnesses. I agree with julia orwell take her to a doctor (not for drugs) but maybe there would be someone she could talk to. Like your wife been there done that and it's a awful feeling. Take care and hoping your wife will feel better soon. Totally ADD

Welcome Viva la Vida to the fourm. It takes time to get through all the stuff you was taught as a child. I to a born-in took a long time before I made major moves in my life. So as gingerbread said "take your time. And yes you are in the ride of your life. Looking forward to your whole story. Take care. Totally ADD

Children of God Cult
by EmptyInside ini was listening to an interview on public radio of chris owens, formerly of the band,girls.. anyway, they touched on briefly how he was raised in the children of god cult.
he mentioned how isolated he felt, and when he left at 16,he accepted the fact that he would lose communication with his mother.
since that is the way of groups like that.

When it comes to Unitarian Universalist they are the farest thing from a cult. JW are children of GB cult. Getting through to a JW is like trying to push a dead horse up a hill. Totally ADD

Masterful Refutation Of The July 15 WT "New Light" Articles
by Room 215 indon't know whether anyone has made prior reference to this treatise by doug mason -- if so, i most have missed it; but it's an important document and "keeper" for anyone interested in throughly acquainting themselves with the logical and scriptural fallacies, not to mention the underlying intellectual dishonesty of this "gb = fds" change: http://www.jwstudies.com/the_truth_changes.pdf.

Felt the same way Lois Lane but instead of all the anointed dieing off they will always be replace with new anointed. They can do this by just saying some of the old anointed of past years were not really anointed. Totally ADD

Why does god kill children?
by Comatose ini was thinking about all the accounts in the bible that indicate god kills children as a punishment or teaching experience.
1. kills all of egypts firstborn sons, who were innocent kids who did nothing to him or his people, who had no control over the decisions pharoah made.
how many times have you read that account or thought about it without realizing the devastating pain dealt to all those parents, and remembered those were innocent kids?.

Because he if the imagination of the bronze age thinking. Were killing someone was very normal. Were children and women was worth less that cattle. Were being a burtal person was the norm. Were reasoning was not thought of. Were love and mercy was considered being weak. So the god they chose to worship was just emulating the way they thought. Totally ADD

Have The Witnesses Changed All That Much In The Last Few Years?
by minimus inwhen i was in it, especially as a young person, it was rules oriented but not like it is now.
to me, the religion is a lot more fanatical than ever before....what do you think?
is it the same religion even as it was 20 years ago?.

Hitler always said he was right and don't listen to anyone else. If you was against him, that was curtains for you. At the same time he tighten and tighten the control over everyone. Right up to the end he thought he could win the war and finally when he saw his end he blamed his troops and the German people for losing the war. Does this sound famliar? The WT is just repeating what history has shown over and over. Yes the WT has changed but like all control cults it is only repeating history. Totally ADD

Rumor: April 3, 2015 start of Great Tribulation?
by Londo111 inon another forum, somebody mentioned that there is a growing belief with those high up in watchtower hierarchy that the great tribulation will begin april 3, 2015. evidently, one has to check the skycharts for that date and compare with 33 ceand also compare with the history of jws for past 40, 80, 120 years.
dont ask me to verify the rumor...these things come and go.
im sure lots of people in hq believe all sorts of things.. .
