After reading Sabastious post on when did you lose your confidence. I started thinking about what it was like in the early 70's when large groups of people were coming into the WT cult because of the 1975 teaching. Talking with these people they whould tell me how hard it was for them to become a JW. The problems they had to overcome drugs, drinking, smoking and so forth. How they struggle to clean their lives up which was a good thing. Then they would ask me how I became a JW. I would tell them I was a born-in. Nine out of ten times they would smile at me and say Oh, you had it easy. I would just look at them and feel like I did not deserved being there. What they did not realize it the cult took my self esteem and confindence away long before I meant them. None of them had a clue what it was like being raised in this cult. The pressure, stress, neglect and abuse most born-ins went through. Now when I look back I think they were right about one thing. I did not deserved being in this cult. What they don't understand is. It is just as hard getting out of this cult as a born-in as well as all those converts who were duped by the WT cult. Did the same thing happen to any of you? Or what it just me? Totally ADD

At what point in time did you lose your confidence in yourself?
by sabastious inthat's what the watchtower wants out of you!
your confidence in yourself.. one can be confident about one's profession, or what have you, and still lack ultimate confidence in one's self.. fairly recently i had a personal revelation and felt a connection with something greater than me.
as i headed out my driveway, after the morning it happened, to work i felt an overwhelming urge to call an elder in my old congregation.

Sabastious my wife and I was talking about this during lunch. Since I am a born-in I would say since I was a little boy up until two years ago. When I ended therapy. I have been building my self esteem ever since. My confidence in myself comes and goes. It is a work in progress. The cult took alot from me and my wife. Totally ADD

Although I was not at a DC this year the last elder school I went to used the same tactic in asking the elders do they believe in the GB. Everybody shouted yes and applauded. That scared me to death. All I could think of this is a cult, this is a cult, this is a cult. Serveral weeks later I step down as a elder. This must be the new thing the WT cult is using. Totally ADD

Today is my 10th anniversary!
by JRK innone of my three marriages lasted that long!
today is the tenth anniversary of my being disfellowshipped.
apparently i am much better at being disfellowshipped than being married.. i might end up getting married again someday, but i will definitely not return to the cult.. say amen!.

Congratulation of your 10th anniversary. Lucky you. Ten years ago I was still deep into the cult. Although thinking back about it I was starting to think there was something wrong. The change in the generation teaching did that. But that was just a small chink in my armor. So Happy Anniversary. Totally ADD

You should be able to tell someone in the hall is a pedophile because they do not say prayers.
by life is to short ini was talking with flipper on the phone the other day and i mentioned that the cobe formally the po told me that.
i have been told so many stupid things in this religion when it comes to pedophiles that i never truly thought about it before and i just said it to flipper in my conversation.
that is the stupidest thing i have heard.. so i thought i would do a thread about it.

So everybody knows he is a pedophile because he does not give a public prayer. What will they say to the parents when he goes after their child in the hall. Will did you not know he was pedophile because he does not give a public prayer. The one who sexually abuse our daughter in law when she was 6 years old back in the early 90's had a record at that time back intp the 70's and just last year was caught sexually abusing another poor child in the JW cult. 40 years this asshole been doing this I guess the he does not give a public prayer rule is not working. ASSHOLES. Totally ADD

I think this is what my wife and I are feeling. We are about to start our donut business and there are days we feel we do not deserve to be successfull. The dollar numbers we are looking at per day seems large to us but when you start looking at it these are the dollar numbers you have to make to be successful. I know these are very realistic numbers and easy to achieve. But this XJW cult mind of ours sometimes pushes in all these thoughts of unworthiness. I try very hard not to be guilty for what we are doing. I also know we both have the skills and knowledge to make a success of it. The good thing we have going is we don't have to worry about meetings, fieldservice and what others in the congregation think of us. So fresh prince of ohio I know exactly how you feel. Totally ADD

I am thinking of writing a book. Would you read it?
by ekruks ini had a nervous breakdown, growing up in a very strict, abusive religious community that you know of.. .
living throughout the world in modern 21st-century cities, we strongly believe the end of the world is nigh due to moral decline, and thoroughly follow a moral code which i respect, seeing drugs etc.
do harm people.

No end to say you are sorry. As a born-in I understand where you are coming from. I just feel so sad about all the harsh stories I read from fellow XJW. I feel your story does need to be told and look forward to your book. If you felt I was saying you were to harsh that's not what I meant. I was just saying your story was very sad. I hope the writing of your book will be emotionally uplifting to you. Take care. Totally ADD

Thanks to Those That Went Before Us
by OnTheWayOut ini want to say thanks to those that have blazed the trail for others to become former jehovah's witnesses.. many were disfellowshipped or disassociated, some stopped going to meetings before "faders" existed.
many had no internet or any way of gathering with others who left the jw's.
later, the likes of randy watters and ray franz gave many a sense of a group conscience with their efforts and writings.

I kind of agree with Violia. I feel the WT has something up their shelves. They must think by going to court they will win some legal victory that will show everybody they have the freedom to do want they want to and God is on their side. I hope and pray this will backfire in their face. And expose them for what they are. Totally ADD
