this is one subject that really annoyed me when i was a jehovah's witness - and i find it still annoys me after being out 7 years from the jw's.

the title of this jw only wt study article is " have regard for those who are working hard among you ".

in my opinion there always seemed to be a double standard in which rank and file publishers were always told to be patient with elders shortcomings - however if rank and file publishers slipped up - elders would be into admonishing and disciplining them like flies attracted to dung with no delay.

Why would it be acceptable for an elder have any issue with one of the sheep since they have been DRAWN BY THE FATHER????

Yet, the sheep are not supposed to question decisions or character or an elder, since elders are appointed by ?Holy Spirit? (show me THAT in the Bible).

I think we should elevate them all to Pope. Then we would just be expected to kiss their RING.

as some of you know, i am employed as master of whisky for seattle (pac nw).

Another poster some time back called them 'window cleaners and janitors trying to be Lords" and that's pretty accurrate IMO

More Elders than MS's For First Time in WT History

have you heard the good news?.

i heard from a reliable source that for the first time in watchtower history, there are more elders now than ministerial servants.

this is not just a regional issue either, it's worldwide..

I can almost guarantee that 3 to 4 of them are nearly useless. You have guys who never really should have been appointed but it would be too upsetting to remove them. You have guys who are elders but don't want any real responsibility. You have guys who are too old and sick to accomplish much of anything.

WTF? This is just a big f***ing loophole for elders who are @$$holes in general or for those who have issues with certain of the R&F in their cong. Now they can say "I'M NOT PERFECT.........but just look at all my EFFORT...........I'm trying best to be loving and find good in so-and-so"......

O.K. I have a question : If elders have given MUCH CONSIDERATION and PRAYER before giving admonition how do they many times say things they later regret ? I thought that praying for holy spirit is supposed to FIX that ??

The HS is AWOL again! Just like it was when it appointed the jack@$$ elder.

Yes, they are appointing MS as elders earlier and earlier.

But I disagree with the statement that younger guys are not reaching out. 15-30 year olds are doing well in this area. The ones who are not doing anything are the burn-outs. Many congos have more ex-elders than elders. So many who have "been there, done that" and are not interested in putting up with the BS again. Now multiply that by the ones who are not even visible anymore. But a lot of effort is being put into retaining the youth.

i had just posted a sarcastic question on pc's thread about last nights call with the six screens folks when the door bell rang.

it was a jw lady and she was by herself.

I think she had no clue.

Honestly, I think most have no clue when it comes to WT chronology/prophecy. They have just been lured into the "have your own pet lion in Paradise" club. Many people are looking for a better life, and that is what they are promised. It's a very small circle within that dig into the deeper things, and when they do -- BAM! right between the eyes! I think it takes something of a catalyst to make them start looking.

( i give credit to the poster password protected for giving me the idea of this thread ) .. after exiting the witnesses in 2003 i have noticed many changes within the wt society which really surprised me but after analyzing the changes - they really have convinced me the wt society and jehovah's witnesses are a mind control cult intent on ruling people's lives.

It seems when 1975 was coming closer the 6 month crash course Bible study was really pushed,

But all those who came in on the "crash course" were not sufficiently indoctrinated and they have all left due to failed expectations (their own, of course).

Distinguishing Characteristic? (Just thinking out loud)

although this is coming from a recent post on another thread by an individual who claims to be a jw, it is something that i have heard expressed by other jws.

it is a supposed distinguishing jw characteristic:.

The problem for the mind-controlled JW is that they will not agree the doctrines are false Biblically ,until the WT says so and drops them,

I think lots of JWs are questioning doctrine now..........they just cannot discuss it openly unless they are willing to change their religion too (or at least accept the consequences that they will be expelled from their current religion).
