Accounts Report has never been read at District Conventions (at least in the past 25 years). Just an announcement that all costs associated with this event are cared for by the WTBTS/CCJW and contribution boxes are located throughout the convention center......

10/15/11 WT Has The Crackdown On Football Started?
by yourmomma ini've always felt that its only a matter of time before the watchtower cracks down on football (american, although soccer seems like its also referenced).
its been one of the few things jw's can do, which means it has slipped under the radar since as we know, there are very few things that are not frowned upon or banned in watchtower world.
we know that almost 99% of movies are wrong according to the standards of the watchower, and this is again mentioned in this article, but it seems like also football is in the cross hairs.

Banning American football would be the start of a new Underground Society.

The genearl public don't know about life in a paradise earth, 1000 year reign, resurrectuion of the dead on earth or even the fact that Gods name is Jehovah.
I disagree with the statement that most do not know that God's name is "Jehovah". But I think more people know it thanks to Harrison Ford & Steen Spielberg from Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark than those who know it from JWs knocking.

Do JW Organization Mistakes Matter?
by InterestedOne inafter reading what concerned jw has to say, i gather that for him, if the jw organization is currently making any mistakes, those mistakes do not matter and are not worth naming, not even one.
i am completely baffled by this and would like to understand why a person would take this position.
concerned jw, can you please explain why you take this position?

Someone mentioned on a Facebook post recently that people drop this stance ONLY when the "mistake" affects them personally.
Sweeney: THAT is a very astute observation and I'm embarrassed to think that is may be true in my case. It's must easier to overlook mistakes when they only affect someone else. All different story when it's your own ox being gored.

2 Tier Watchtower Publications- 1) For Regulars and 2) For Door-to-Door
by dreamgolfer infolks, i dont post much although i have been raised a jw all my life.. it has been awhile since this begain to bother me but i have to ask...what is the true story of why the wtbts created a 2nd edition for wt magazine placement purposes only?
i have been puzzled but can only suppose the reasons, costs, control, etc...but truly did they think that when ct russell started the magazine it was for all to read, not published for a "select few" and if you come regular to the meetings we'll get you the "real issue" with real articles?.
i know this has probably been discussed over and over, but please humor me and tell me how they can with a straight face "they" think this was "ok" to publish in this manner.. this alone smacks of hypocrasy, as it was not the intention of the faithful slave to do such a thing when jesus put control on earth in ct's hands, funny how that works out.

I think it was a $$$-saving decision. Instead of publishing 15-18 millions copies FOUR TIMES per month (2 WT + 2 Awake issues), it has been streamlined to 2 public issues (WT + Awake) with that high volume printing, and 1 issue (WT Study Edition) that only requires 7-8 million copies. That means production was cut from 60 million copies each month to 37 million -- 40% reduction without anyone batting an eye that this was a major scale back in the publishing operation.
Plus the recent change in eliminating the individual publisher order for every issue of the Mags, and using instead the one big order per congregation will dramatically cut back on the quantity of magazines required for each cong. Think how many irregular, inactive, fading pubs there were that felt obligated to have their own personal magazine order for each issue (be it only 3 or 5 or 10) just so look like they were intending to have an active share in the magazine work. No more! They can pick up 1 or 2 copies IF & WHEN they attend a meeting or IF & WHEN they meet for FS. OR, they don't have to EVER pick up any mags for public FS and no one knows if they do or not. No more pressure to "look" like they're placing mags. A CO said many years ago that placements in typical cong only equalled 1/2 of the mags that were delivered to the cong. Where did all those other mags go? I hear they do real well in a wood stove. Or, isn't there a video here about using them to wrap and freeze nightcrawlers??
Paper back books and bibles. Mag production cuts. Real estate sell off. Combining smaller congs together. Merging congs into one KHall. Raising per publisher $$-rate at Assm Halls. Debit/credit card machines for contributions.
There must be some BIG $$$ issues at WTBT$.

After reading what Concerned JW has to say, I gather that for him, if the JW Organization is currently making any mistakes, those mistakes do not matter
To someone who is still "IN", the mistakes are excused by the fact that frequently there are corrections of "New Light" which they see as the WT being humble in admitting mistakes, and progessive in their doctrine. Most current JWs have only a few years in the Truth (esp those with any zeal), and thus have NO IDEA of how distorted the mistakes/corrections or flip/flops are when you compile them through the years. They have that new fire in their gut and they come here with the intent to straighten out all you poor misguided apostates (or all you apostate @$$h0les, depending on their line of thought). Think back about your days "IN" -- You NEVER faced ANY of the HARD QUESTIONS from anyone on the "inside". All these things are glossed over because NO ONE with in wants to try to answer the HARD questions. Then, you start lurking on this board or other similar sites and HOLY SHIT, BATMAN! this can't be TRUE?.....Can it? So you lurk and you lurk and you dig and you dig and your whole world feels like it's crashing down.
Concerned JW is just now beginning that roadtrip. He's at the point of coming here to straighten everyone out. He's earnest. He's zealous. He has good motives. He disappears for awhile while trying to find the "right" answer for each HARD question that gets thrown at him. Like the rest of us, he'll find out that the (honest) answers cause a big knot in your gut.

Holy Spirit in Judicial Committees
by Mr. Falcon inone of the most controversial practices of jehovah's witnesses is the operation of judicial committees.
these specially-assigned inquisitory boards are manned by at least 3 elders and interrogate, investigate and finally prosecute a person believed to be guilty of any number of offenses.
these offenses can be anything from heavy drinking, masturbation, swearing to infidelity, apostacy even issues of bloodguilt.

I have spoke to a number of people who were DF'd and reinstated (many now faded). Most of them stated how the main reason they rejoined the Watchtower was to be able to speak to their families again. Love of God and wanting a relationship with Him was not really the priority for them. And yet "holy spirit" allowed them to re-join. If they had personal reasons for wanting to rejoine, wouldn't God's Active Force(TM) pick up on that?
Well said, Mr Falcon. "Spriit Directed judicial decisions"? Crock of $h!+.

Review and Comments on the New Elders Book
by MrDarkKnight ini recently completed an exhaustive review of an unofficial copy of the new elders manual.
my father, who is currently serving as an elder told me a friend of his in the service department told him it was on the internet so i eagerly looked for it and found it.
yes, i know it was a violation of copyright, but while at bethel i made copies of many technical manuals which is also a copy of copyright so the wts hypocrisy does not concern me.. i was appointed as an elder the year the pay attention book (manual replaced by this one) was released so i have very good working knowledge of the old book and could compare the two books.

Pornea is "not a casual touching of the sex organs but involves the manipulation of the genitals." p59
So you can touch but you cant manipulate.
Think about it. This kind of disclaimer had to be included or there would have been some dumbass elders setting up JC for nurses who were "casually touching the genitals of patients" while inserting urinary catheters. This is group of people who still build temporary "nursing areas" from plywood at the district conventions (at least in the USA) because a mother nursing a baby is "obscene" and should only be done out of public view behind a (plywood) wall. WTF?

Whatever you do, arrive at 1914
by Doug Mason inthe wts claims that the length of babylons king nebuchadnezzars suppressed state symbolised the suppressed state of gods kingdom.
each day of the heathen kings lack of control represented a year of heathen supremacy.. .
since nebuchadnezzars experience was symbolic, it would have ended before the fulfilment started; unfortunately the hebrews scriptures do not specify that moment.

I think that in many ways, that overlapping generation lunacy has caused them more problems than it solved.
I agree. There is murmurring everywhere about the overlap crap. Some bailed out with the change in 1995. Of those who questioned that "delay" (I know, I know, "....it will not delay....") but hung in there, some are leaving now, but even more are living in doubt, going through the motions, keeping one foot in the religion (just in case). Face it, most JWs are not anxious to run out and swap partners, do drugs, smoke tobacco, etc etc. So, it's easy to continue living the lifestyle that is JW acceptable, that looks good and proper and devoted from the outside, but at the same time, go on and pursue the things that you really want in life. Bigger houses, nicer cars, fancy vacations (everyone is going on cruises). In the past, the JWs put all of that off (even music lessons for the kids) because the end was SO NEAR and you could do all of that stuff after the Big A. Now, I see many of them coming to the realization that they better do it now as they might never have the opportunity again.
Overlapping? They're just waiting to see what the NEXT new light is on that matter...........................

DO NOT have children in this system!!
by What Now? ingrowing up, this is something that my other always told me.
i've had several conversations with older sisters who have said that if they could do things over, they wouldn't have had children.
other couples my own age are horrified at the thought of raising children in "this system".

JWs not having kids?
The young couples are dropping them out like an assembly line (UAW assembly, not JW assembly). LOTS of babies, toddlers, and pre-teens in our area. Invitations constantly for baby showers, graduations, etc.
