Circuit Overseer's visit and Body of Elders
by bola inwho is more powerful out of the co and the body of elders?

pioneer and my service overseer in my congo was asking one of the regular pioneers during the meeting with the co. how powerful is the co to the body of elders and how powerful is the body of elders to the co?

In more recent years the grandfatherly CO who is sincere in his belief that he is doing the Lord's work and helping the downtrodden is gone. The new CO's that have gone through the bOrg's TM School (if that's what it is called now) are Company Men sent in to see that the slaves are obedient about sending lots of CA$H to Mother and to see that funds are not being wasted when they could be contributed.
They will also take notice of anyone that seems a little rebellious or doubtful or fails to convey their unconditional allegiance to the bOrg (even to death).

CO retirement severance?
by road to nowhere ina friend says the wt gives a substantial sum to retiring cos. he says one bought land and built near him, a desirable rural area.
i think it must have been saved green handshake money or inherited.. btw this man also thinks the gb are the smartest men alive..

The best "retirement" situation I know of for former CO's is when the Branch farms them out to a (usually rural) Congregation that has built an apartment onto their KHall. The CO and COW get free rent and utilities. The Cong gets an elderly but well experienced and respected elder and his wife. Since they are over 65 yo they have free Government health insurance (USA Medicare) and if they had secular employment before going into the CO work, they receive Social Security (thought perhaps a minimal amount ie, $1000/mo). They are likely assured of a few cash gifts from any JW family that has the funds and some kind and generous brother in the cleaning biz might toss them a couple "easy" office cleaning gigs if they are physically able to do light cleaning.
They actually are probably a lot better off than the typical elderly JW couple that slaved away for the bOrg pioneering and living a meager existence waiting for The End(™) that never comes.

Disfellowship
by justice34 ini'm dealing right now with veru extreme situations that most of us have been in this sect.. i've talk to the elders because i was smoking cigarettes and i stopped for a couple of weeks.
the reason i did that because mamy things are going on right now in my life.
i'm out, i don't attend meetings i don't want to do anything with them anymore but i live in a small community so i want to go out without giving attention to anybody.. the reason i told them what i'm doing because my wife is still one of them and other people learn of some other things i have been doing and i had to tell something for obvious reasons.. the elsers tho the haven't answer to me back in 2 weeks almost and today one of them called me to give me some information.

It would appear English is a 2nd language, so I'm wondering if you are conveying things accurately.
If you mean that you smoked tobacco for ONLY two weeks (vs you said you STOPPED for two weeks), you might have a chance. Claim depression from stress.
However, if what you originally wrote is correct -- that is you have been smoking for months or years and you just stopped 2 weeks ago after being "found out", then you are fucked. But, you might be able to be reinstated if you kiss ass for about 6 months and convince them it was a stress related slip back.

It's rare but once in awhile you get a "I'm the new sheriff in town" CO. That comes in makes sure the elders know he's the boss!~ NowWhat
Usually if a BOE doesn't agree with what the CO is saying they usually just nod their heads in agreement and pretend to go along with it knowing that he'll be gone in 3 years (or less).
Although I do remember one CO who came through and when all the Circuit Heavies just kind of ignored him, he went through the Circuit and replaced every Big Dog position in the circuit with someone who was not part of the Old Boys Club. One of the Old Boys that I knew was complaining 10 years later that they still hadn't "fixed" what this CO had "screwed up".

I had a good friend who served in the traveling work, Don Wallace, for 40 years and he had to leave because of turning 70 years old. He told me that he gets $600 a month from the Branch. However, he saved all his money from the "green handshakes" and bought a house in cash. ~ James Jack
That's an interesting story you share. How can you explain a guy who is serving the Cult in that high of position whom is supposedly believing and definitely espousing (to others) the concept that The End is "immanent" -- any day now -- but is storing up a shit-ton of CA$H? It seems obvious that he never really believed it. He was devising his "Plan B" all along -- just in case nothing happened. Clearly no real faith in Joe Hoover's promise!

And, drearyweather made a good point about those with money. It's like the story of Fiddler on the Roof --

Peace and Security and Mike Flynn
by SouthCentral ini was on a jw page recently and some dubs were openly predicting the end of the world in a year.
mike flynn (trump advisor) mentioned having one religion in america and the dubs went crazy.
someone even mentioned 1975 on the thread.. it seems to have since been deleted; but there were about 50 comments before i couldn't find it again.

REALLY? JW's predicting the end of the world in just a year? IMAGINE THAT!
GET REAL DUDE! JW's have been predicting that for over 100 years and have been wrong the entire time.

What changes are on the way?
by insearchoftruth ini was listening to the co talk to my wife’s congregation on sunday and pretty much the complete talk was justifying doctrinal and organizational changes and pretty much preparing the ‘rank and file’ for upcoming changes.
anyone on hear have any insight of what ‘new light’ is coming in the future?.
