I'm betting we get wiped out by an asteroid sooner than the Big A. Or, a bit worried about the F*cksticks around the globe that have nuclear capability. Even that seems more likely than Armageddon at God's hands.

I usually go to the NIV online, but I caught myself pulling out the Diaglott recently when "online" wasn't available.

(Yeah you read it right. No internet in the heart of the USA [admittedly very rural heart of the USA] even though we've been paying a tax for it since Al Gore introduced the idea.)

This is about when they pull out Heb 6:10 -- The Governing Body is not so unjust as to forget what you did to save their asses.(Tho they forget about you as you're being billing $100"s/hr for your personal attorney or while you're ass is rotting in jail -- with a bunch of felons you think you protect child abusers. NOT a good scenario. Even they have little kids.)

A question about the contemporary generation teaching following a conversation with a JW apologist

i would like to ask the ex-jws on this site to put their ‘apologists hat’ back on for a moment, so that i can go through the overlapping generation teaching in an attempt to make sense of it.

i apologise if these points have already been addressed on this site.a quick background for the reason for my request… having never confronted a jw apologist on the topic, i recently engaged with a jw regarding the official understanding of a ‘generation’ and unfortunately he didn’t have an answer to the points i was making.

i was left a little confused as to what the official jw response would/should be.so i was hoping that my thoughts below might be considered from an apologist’s perspective.the point in question relates to this section of the watchtower article below from 2008, as well as the jw.org video explanation of the overlapping generation:---:w08 2/15[box on page 25] can we calculate the length of “this generation”?the word “generation” usually refers to people of various ages whose lives overlap during a particular time period or event.

for the record, 'colder pizza' is the fifth youtuber to read this incredible letter.. jws hate this letter because it accurately expresses current watch tower teachings which they have embraced as "the truth" in language commonly used by jws in private conversation but would never express so candidly to non-jws.. most people have known at least one jw at some point in their life, but nobody knows what jws actually believe; therefore, they view jws as basically a harmless religion.

Leaving JW - My own experience

as some of you may know, i disassociated myself from wt$ last april.

and i did it in the noisiest way i could find: i wrote my disassociation letter and made sure to send it to all elders of the two congregations in my town and to all jws whose email address i possessed.

i knew this would bring loads of issues because my wife was in as well as our younger daughter.

The result is that they are feeling betrayed by the vast majority of our "friends" who have only shown conditional love for them.

We can truly relate to that. We had one last JW friend that had stated in contact with reminders of the Memorial time and secret passcode to the Zoom Meeting, and CO visits, and assemblies (online recordings), but it seems they have now disappeared also. All the other "friends" have been out of touch for several years now.

We reflected on the fact that either no one noticed we were no longer there, or no one cared. (Yeah, that stings but I guess it's better than getting constantly badgered.) Certainly no one thought of Jude 23 and attempting to "snatch us out of the fire" if they had any inkling of us having some spiritual weakness. No one left their 99 sheet to rescue the 1 who had strayed (Matt 18, Luke 15).
