today i uploaded a new article highlighting the method of choice by watchtowers current governing body for dealing with problematic details haunting its doctrines.

moving forward the current governing body will expand on this theme.

Sorry, Nick, but I'd have to put at least some of the blame here on the young woman. At least here in the Bible Belt, it wouldn't be all that unusual to have a Mom not really want to admit that her son is "living/sleeping with" a woman. She could have been a strict Southern Baptist or strict Pentacostal or strict Republican (haha). I suspect your son should not have been surprised by Mom's thinking in this arena. He could have prepared his fiance ahead of time. (Something like "don't be surprised if my super conservative, devoutly religious mom puts us in separate bedrooms for appearance sake, but hopefully they'll be right across the hall from each other....") I suspect there were some other issues central to the breakup.

Seeking Advice Please

some background: i am an only child, a born-in, my parents were considered superstars of the watchtower having been missionaries and "exemplary" for their entire lives.

shortly after they died in 2002, i started a very slow fade and finally stopped all meeting attendance in 2005.. both sides of the family are, with a very few exceptions, also hardcore watchtowerites as in 'if the watchtower says my green bible is purple, then it must be purple.

' i have lost touch with one side of the family almost completely but the other side has always been close to me and in particular, i miss two cousins who were like brothers to me.

I was thinking of trying to mend things by coming right out and saying that we NEVER have to talk about religion again.

I would recommend NOT coming right out and saying it. In fact, DO NOT SAY IT. EVER. JUST DO IT. Just quit talking about the religion. By coming out and saying it, they will think you are throwing it up in their faces again. JUST DROP IT. Send the cards or emails with pictures. Don't bring up argumentative or objectionable things. Just play it cool. Wait for responses.

Just my 2cents.

What was your experience of working at an assembly hall build?

i volunteered to help out at an assembly hall build about an hour away from where i live.. i thought it would be an amazing experience & was looking forward to it very much.. when i went to reception i was asked if i had any trade skills, it was just about then i began to realise because i had no 'blue collar' trade skills i would be treated as a lesser person.........maybe even a slight nuisance.. as all the 'brothers' busily carried out their 'manly' tasks it became quite a discouraging experience because i found other 'unskilled' jw's guarded their jobs very closely & said they did not need any help.. if it was a place of christian joy i did not find.. .

But then they return to their home congregations and complain about being overworked and burnout from the quickbuilds. Actually, if they didn't have the excuse of going to another Quickbuild, they'd have to go to their regular congregation meeting (easy choice!).

what are your best one liners/questions to make jw's think?.

i had a heated conversation with my mum this weekend and apart from mainly going round in circles (as is often the case with brainwashed cult members) one thing made her stop and i could see that she was having major trouble processing the logic.

I have never read a half satisfactory justification of that one.

WOBBLE, how about David taking the census & the resulting punishment? David sins and 70,000 innocent Israelites die as a punishment. WTF??

And David was given the choice of personally suffering for his sin: "....or three months of your fleeing before your adversaries...." He didn't choose that!

So, how many of you stayed single or childless for the sake of the Kingdom? And how many people in your Hall are single or childless for that reason?

in my hall growing up, i remember 6 childless couples.

some have died, some are still alive.. i stayed single for the kingdom, hope to change that.. presently in my congregation, there are 4 brothers over 30, two over 40, that are single for the kingdom.

and about 10 single sisters over 25.. three of the five married elders have no children.

All the young couples in our congos are popping kids out like it's a contest! Carpet munchers running around the Hall everywhere. Nobody living like the Great Trib is knocking at the door.

I haven't use this on anyone yet, but I never understood it and NO ONE has explained it. I can't even find it in the watchtowers library.

Why did jehovah kill David's INNOCENT baby, after torturing it for a WHOLE WEEK with a sickness.

My recollection on this is that Jah did not STRIKE the baby with illness & death, it was just born a sick & dying baby, but Jah had the foresight to know this was going to be the circumstances.

Remember, you are to have "no association" with non-Jehovah's Witness friends or relatives. If they are honest and moral, that still does not make any difference. Watchtower, 2/15/60, pp. 112-113.

I'm not going to bother checking references for any more of these. HHG, I'm afraid this is worse than what the WT does in quoting references.

Unfortunately , this is an example that will be used by JWs to prove that apostates outright LIE and MISQUOTE what has been published.

Giving people status is a way to keep the numbers from leaving. What's that old song? "Put me in coach, I'm ready to play, today." If more people have a status job, then they are more likely to become devout and stay. Ego stroking.

This is how most groups that depend on volunteers, including religions, do it. Get people involved. We NEED you! No church or charity ever gets done with its project. You build a church rectory, now you need an educational center. You cure polio, you move on to "birth defects" (March of Dimes never quit after polio was cured, just changed their marketing.) Just like the Uncle Sam poster: WE WANT YOU! People need to feel needed and to feel that they are accomplishing good in their lives. More hours preaching. More new Kingdom Halls to be built. Please give more......
