I did not think the talks were worded as strongly against it this year as in the past.

Over time I started to think about it more and more and realized that these clowns could not be appointed by holy spirit at all.
Amen...........to that.

On A Scale Of 1 to 10 How Much Knowledge Does A Jehovah's Witness Have About Their Religion?
by minimus inyears (many decades) ago, most jws knew what their religion taught.
they could go toe to toe with a minister or priest and make some good points.. i believe today's witness knows little about most of the convoluted teachings and revisions of the "truth".
yesteryear's witnesses got a 9/10.
-
DesirousOfChange
Yesteryear's Witnesses got a 9/10. today's JWs get a 5. The average Witness can't understand what's acceptable regarding blood, military service, conscience matters, disassociation, various parables, etc. Today's JW is dumbed down and sorry to say: dumb.
They are no longer converting based on doctrine. Remember the Truth Book or Live Forever Book went through all of Christendom's doctrines and shot them down and taught JW Bible Truth. Not any more. Look at the new brochure from Dist Conv. Pictures. The attraction now is "warm and fuzzy". Happy family life. Improved quality of life. Better future life (esp in 3rd world countries or among low income groups).

the reason im mad and want to fire off some shots? well, lies by elders, coverups by elders, appointments of alcoholics, wife beaters, ambitious fakers, and outright hostile treatment of me and my family by so-called strong ones in cong...shunning for no reason by pioneers and other elites....completely inappropriate counsel by school overseer who is functionally illiterate, but hey, he can lead the school right? i could go on and on.........
OH! well if that's what's bothing you.............get over it! None of that is new to WT World. It's just new TO YOU. Usually you are sheltered from most of the crap until AFTER you make elder. THEN you see the other side of the fence, that you thought was GREENER. It's MOLD.

At one time there was a link to the letter from the UN stating the facts about WT being NGO.
The link is no longer available.
Did anyone download the letter from the UN when the link was still active, so that it could be posted again?

DON'T SPEND TIME WITH PEOPLE WHO ARE NOT JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES.

have a read of this and you will never become one of the jw's!.
don't associate with outsiders (non-jehovah's witnesses).

I have no idea what got into "Desirous of Change" or why he/she isn't back here to defend him/herself or apologize for the unfounded ranting accusations of "LIES." Pride maybe?
I had lost track of this thread.
However, I hereby humbly apologize, esp to Hairy He Goat. I much too quickly assumed these were supposed to be quotes when I checked the first 2 or 3 as I found it hard to believe there were such brash statements. I see now that they were summations. I do think the summations reflect a pejorative opinion, but they are not untruths.
If it was that I read through it too fast and carelessly, I apologize.
If it was that I might have still been looking through my rose-colored glasses, I apologize.
If it was the evil influence of intoxicating liquor that blurred my reasoning, I apologize. (Nor for the liquor, but for the misconception and lack of tact or empathy in what I said that resulted.)
BTW -- I do still contend that things written in such a manner that first appear to be untrue attacks or even just blatantly biased against the JWs will prevent curious new lurkers who are developing doubts to run in fear and NOT look any further. But I have learned that many with the most hardened views are that way because of the abuse they have endured and the damage they have suffered personally. I am certain that it is not possible for me to begin to understand or comprehend their experiences.
Please do not judge me only by this one comment.
Sincerely,

how prevalent do you think this attitude is?
by cptkirk inpeople in congregations around the country (world - i have no idea what goes on in other countries with the jws) staying in the borg for all kinds of backwards reasons?
how prevalent %% wise do you think this is?
for example people manifesting "fear of man", fear of being ridiculed by members for leaving, or family reasons, or just to much stock in the organization to take the loss connected with leaving....all of whom really no longer believe the faith the way it's presented?

MAD SWEENEY: It seems to me that there is a percentage of hard core, non-thinking JWs who believe everything, even when it makes no sense at all. There is a percentage of free-thinking JWs who hardly believe any of it but remain in because it's their identity/lifestyle/family etc. And the majority of JWs believe most of it but have certain issues they disagree with and keep quiet about - these can run the gamut from doctrinal to procedural issues and from one or two things to dozens.
NO ROOM FOR GEORGE: Speaking personally, I believe about 75% of it or so, but the 25% or so that I disagree with just happens to be weightier than what I do agree with. I've spent a lot of time reviewing my beliefs and comparing various arguments and perspectives to make sure my thoughts and beliefs are in fact, mine. I'm convinced that this religion is not much different from any other religion, and with that said, if it wasn't for my family, particulary up in years parents, I'd never set foot in another Kingdom Hall again and wouldn't have the slightest difficulty moving on.
I'd say those comments sum it up nicely.

The Bible Character Who Said, "Wait on Jehovah"
by metatron inonce upon a time, the bible tells us, there was an authority figure in ancient israel.
he observed the corruption, the decay, the wrongdoing and the nepotism and he wagged his finger vigorously !.
instead of taking action, he warned, 'you just wait until jehovah takes care of you !

At this point they are only letting her see the good side of it all. I truly believe there is a good side. It offers hope and direction to people who are lacking such in their lives. It provides a "good cause" to rally around allowing someone to feel good about themself. It provides a group of (mostly) good, sincere people who provide (mostly) wholesome association and especially so for people who are introverted or that generally have difficulty fitting in.
Presently, some of their long-held doctrines have been stretched so thin that people are beginning to see through them.
