The first rule of beard club...
by GrreatTeacher in...is you don't start growing a beard in the spring!
you start growing it in the fall, keep your chin warm in the winter, and then shave it off for warm weather.
at least that's how it works in my household and in the northern hemisphere where the gb are.. i have the sneaking suspicion that there is going to be a steep learning curve for many.. will they know to trim it along their jawbone properly?

The new direction is if the person says they are repentant then that is enough. Its gone from what the elders say to what the sinner says
I'll believe that after I see it in practice. Right now it's just words. Those words might be simply PR spin and Theocratic Warfare (aka LIES).
We can be sure there will be much said in private elders meetings with COs and at KM Schools. BUT we can also be sure that it all will be leaked. There are NO such things as secrets anymore.

What I Remember From The Past...
by titch infolks: regarding all the recent changes about dis-fellowshipping and time for re-instatement.
(and, even speaking to persons who are dis-fellowshpped.
) back in 1972, a new book was released at the summer district convention, that replaced the yellow-colored "lamp": book.

what will happen with this new flip flop this time?
We have one older couple (he's an elder) in our former Cong that took the hardline against their DF daughter. Yet, they wanted to see their grandchildren and could not understand why their daughter took the hardline against them >> "We are a package deal. You can't shun me and still see my children." They still feel they must be faithful to Jehovah first.
Another couple (he was an elder) whose daughter was DF took less of a hardline. The mother absolutely refused to shun her daughter (and subsequent grandchildren) in any way. She didn't do it on the discreet and cared not if seen in public with her daughter. The father originally tiptoed around the issue trying to maintain his elder position. When other elders brought him up on the matter, he chose the "necessary family business" defense eventually said FU to being an elder.
I expect the same thing to happen with the new "flip flop" in the rules. There will be a big difference on how individual JW's handle it AND there will be a big difference on how each BOE handles it. Some will be liberal and allow a "stretching" of the rules. Others will be hardline.
Dealings with DF who are not family members will be subject to even greater scrutiny. I do not see where much of anything has changed on that.

The change to the appeal committee is relevant but in practice the appeals that I seen turned over were in fact the case of the subject expressing their repentance better and in a different way at the appeal.
This may be what is changing. Remember, the Appeal Committee is hand-picked by the CO. They are not just local elders chosen at random. These Company Men will be there to protect the Borg. They will be entrusted to determine if the person being DF could pose a risk to the Borg if they are DF. Does the case open up any kind of liability to the Borg? Does it in any way make it possible to bring a charge of them violating Human Rights?
They won't be there to determine repentance. They will be there to determine risk!

June 2024 WT: Don't talk about Anthony Morris
by neat blue dog inthe latest study edition mentions hypothetical scenarios of jws who are no longer serving at bethel or no longer elders, etc.
and says we shouldn't speculate, as defaming them could border on slander.. we could unintentionally defame someone by spreading negative information.
..... would it be proper to speculate on the reasons why these adjustments were made and to share that opinion with others?.

Plausible deniability to the secular authorities; we don't shun people who believe differently!
That is exactly what all these changes are about. WT needs to LOOK BETTER to the secular authorities. They have "gotten their tit in a wringer" with various governments around the world and are trying to appear "normal" instead of so draconian and malicious towards those who leave.
Hopefully these changes will lead to softening by the hardliners, but hopefully the secular authorities will not be fooled if there are not REAL changes.

The GB are so interested in their own image and retaining their own authority and perceived holiness that they refuse to openly admit their own humanity in any kind of specific way. The results can be sad, even tragic. If they followed the New Testament example and admitted their errors, it might just warm people's hearts toward them instead of continuing the status quo of viewing them as on an entirely different plateau, as "holier than us."
It's been discussed many times that the GB has assigned some to read these sites. Too damn bad they do not have the balls to report back suggestions of this type. I'm sure such snoops are all brown-nosing "yes men".
BTW -- The difference between a brown nose and a shit head -- DEPTH PERCEPTION.

Religious charities are not held to any filing requirements, unless they are so blatant with their misuse of funds. Some ministries have been audited in recent years but there have been strict limitations enacted (I think since 2012) so such audits have ceased since that time.
Most recent exposes have been produced by secular news organizations.

Beards vs. Shunning announcements
by slimboyfat induring lett’s announcement that beards are now allowed he elaborated at some length how brothers ought to feel and react to the change in policy.
he warned brothers not to resent not being able to grow beards earlier if they had wished to do so.
he also warned brothers who supported the old policy not to allow themselves to wonder what the point of doing so was now that it has changed.

Are you doing this because you're a drone and someone else is telling you to?
Surely it must because their own Bible trained conscience has moved them to personally make changes. NOT that they are following some Cult!
Isn't it amazing how the Holy Spirit moves the conscience of all truth loving Witnesses AT THE SAME TIME!!!!!
