WOW! so much for letting God decide a. What can one say to such wickedness as set out in that WT. Perhaps we should start calling them Jehovah's Vikings, they just go through raiding & slaughtering with no Re-Norse. -

Reasons for doubting.
by New day insomebody mentioned in a recent topic that they had a conversation with a former elder whose breaking point was when the overlapping generation was highlighted in recent times and how he would never serve again until somebody gave him a scriptural reason to believe it.
i am in a similar position.
i have gone in the last 18 months from taking the wt study, leading fs groups, and doing talks on the mtngs to doing almost nothing, as i resigned a little over a year ago as an elder due to a combination of family responsibilities and huge doubts.

New Day, Elder Newton, Magnum, you were all elders yes? I'm a woman so I have a different side of the coin to look at, when a bro has responsibilities & he leaves peoples reaction to that is "he did this & he did that, & HE WAS AN ELDER". Was you aware of that when you walked? Did it make it harder on you as all eyes on the cong were on you? Only when someone who is a no-one in the cong starts to fade no -one notices anyway. It makes it easier I would of thought. Or maybe cause of who you were they were afraid to say something to you. I'm just interested in your opinions as I never really gave it much thought until I read this post. -

Hey, then I guess it's a New Day for you, sorry couldn't help myself. Your not alone, & yes you did the right thing. Although some times you doubt yourself a?
I think ones like you who have been given so called privileges within the cong are very brave, you must feel an over whelming sense of responsibility to other members. I take my hat off to those who have been elders/ms/missionaries etc, it cannot be so easy for you to fade like the rest of us.
Thank you for sharing

Elder harassed my mom and asked for donation
by kaik inmy mom had surgery last month and she developed complication and had to be on antibiotics to treat infection.
so, she is recovering slowly, but things was tough on her and she was not attending kh or went to assembly two weeks ago.
nonetheless, elder showed up at her place and instead providing her with comfort he started to harass her that her faith is weak, she does not put trust in jah, etc.

This is disgraceful behaviour coming from anyone, please give your mum a big hug from me. Good for her standing up for herself like that to. It looks to me like he saw a woman in a vulnerable position & took advantage of her. Hope someone kicks his ass! -

Paul from Cleveland, what you have written is so true. The sad fact here is that those ones who are mixing with Nerd in the Brain are probably considered spiritually weak in the congregation & the so called strong ones avoid having to much association with them. Unless they are one of the lucky few to be in what my hubby calls "A golden cong" I was in one of those years ago & it was lovely. Oh how sheltered I was. -

kid's, the things they say
by Sabin inwe had this plan of action with our kid's, if they asked us a question that we deemed they were to young to know about we would divert their attention, oh, could you fetch mummy her cardi, i'm feeling abit cold, there's some sweets in my pocket, would you like one etc, you get the idea.
usually this would be enough & they would forget about what they had asked.
when they wern't diverted & asked again we would provide an honest explanation suitable for their age.

So my hubby goes off to pick up our 8 year old daughter, in the car on the way home she says.
"my friends older sister told me that daddies put there willies in mummies private parts, is that true?" my husband, tries to divert the conversation, but to no avail cause she asked him again. When he got home & told me I said,
"please tell me you didn't lie to her"
" No, I looked out the window & thought where the hell is my wife when I need her, then I said, Yes it is true however there is so much more to it than just the physical side that you will learn about when you are older"
" o.k. that is good, what did she say?"
"She said that is disgusting, & didn't speak to me the rest of the way home"
Poor man, You got any funny things your kids have said that have thrown you off kilter?

Personal thoughts and evaluations upon the Jehovah's Witnesses Organization
by Finkelstein infrom my own personal feelings about the jws when i was involved and i was brought up in the is religious practice from birth, was one of feeling of being lied to, exploited and manipulated to a certain extent.
reflectively though i could see some wholesome social behavior direction being propagated not surprising nevertheless since this faith is based from christianity at its core.. where and how the wts/jws got bit corrupted i believe is that this organization has always had a publishing house and its core operation and supporting finances were mostly from that endeavoring operation.
this also included creating doctrines which were to support and enhance the proliferation of those published works.

Dunedain, Are you related to my husband? that is almost word for word how he put it. Refused to get bapped over the head cause of how false everything was. He always points out how judgment, mean, cruel & backstabbing they are. The headship arrangement has really worked for me in that he wont allow me to have them in the house if he isn't here to protect me from their emotional abuse AND THERE'S NOTHING THEY CAN DO ABOUT IT, cause they are the one's who teach the man is head of his home. As far as my own opinion goes they are nothing to do with a loving God, they don't preach Jesus message to love your neighbour, in-fact they usually try to leave Jesus out altogether cause he is ONLY the SON of God after all. I don't think they have much understanding of the bible at all, they make it up as they go along. But I have to confess it looks good on paper as long as you don't read the small print.

You are most welcome, we are not a bad bunch on here, please don't leave over one discussion that didn't go to well. You will find that some times when one of our fellow forum friends is hurt we all jump to defend, to protect. Especially those who have experienced being brutally & unjustly treated by JW's leaders/elders.
The reason I suggest about those policies is so you can see the lies that those at the top are telling to those like your friends who would be considered at the bottom. The sad fact is that many of us have defended the org & in my own case would have gladly died for it only to be devastated to discover that we were played for fools. Now most passionately (not always in the best of ways) would wish to spare others like yourself that pain. That is the basic fact of the matter.
If you have no joy, please if you have time take a look at the Australian Royal Commission & Jehovah's Witnesses, you will have it straight from the horses mouth. No Care, No compassion, No justice, No love for these poor innocent children who now number into 10's of 1000's around the world.

you could also take a look at Steven Hassan book, Combating Cult Mind Control.
I am a Jehovah's witness, I do believe in God in his son Christ Jesus & the bible that tells us at proverbs 18:15 "The heart of the understanding one acquires knowledge,& the ear of the wise one seeks to find knowledge". The facts are what they are, some desire to be in the "Truth" while others like myself & many on this forum desire "THE Truth". I hope this is of help to you.

We looked after a dog for a couple who went on holiday in what I can only describe as snake heaven. In the middle of summer, humidity in the 90's in a house that has a tin roof & no air-conditioning. You would open the door to see Eastern Browns, Taipans, Red bellies all snakes, all venomous. So I go to bed leaving my hubby watching t.v. Just dozing off when he starts shouting, so I run down stairs just as he is coming up with his arms out stretched to protect me, swearing his head off. As he had been watching t.v. a snake went through his legs, he froze until it had passed. Cause he only had the light from the t.v. & a small lamp we couldn't see it properly only that it was about 6 foot, & the dog wouldn't go near it. So we got in the truck, left everything unlocked & on & drove home.
The next day thinking it was most likely a Python we went back looking for it. We pulled everything out even the oven, no sign. In the main living area there was a big book shelf with a big bowl on the top & my hubby decided that it was in there. So, he got a stick reached up & gently tapped on the bowl. He was right, it was in the book shelf, but not in the bowl. I saw his whole body go stiff, he turned his head & with a pale face & eye's like saucers said "I found the Snake" it was on the shelf by his head looking straight at him, thank God it was a python. It was so funny I just cracked up laughing at him. Some-one we know who keeps them came & got her & we decided we would take the dog back to our place to sleep. I have to say though she was beautiful.
