Wirerider the point is this, when some one has been abused be it physically/mentally/emotionally/sexually you cannot make it not happen, it has already been, what you can do is help with the healing process by being present for that person to tell their story to. By listening or in this case reading theirs & for them to read others experiences one can begin to bind up the wound not so that a scar doesn't remain but so it is not so painful a burden to bear. Basically undo the great sadness put on ones from this organization. You are writing from your anger, we have all done it, & that is o.k because it helps you to release it & in turn helps others to know that they aren't alone. See it`s simple really that is what we are all doing here. Releasing, listening, supporting & if you read some of the post`s laughing. Well that's how I see it, maybe I`m wrong. -

My husband & I went for coffee the other day, across the road was a grave yard & I wanted to walk around it reading the head stones. It was actually quite a beautiful moment in a strange way because it touches every emotion & that teaches you something. To speak the names out loud somehow made them live again, to see the couples who were still together in death, whole families back to the late 1800`s & sadly the children, one little grave brought a lump to both of our throats. My husband found it sad as it brought up a sense of guilt that he hadn't been at his fathers funeral. He was able to talk about it & realised that being there to see his dad before he died was more important & so could now let that feeling go. For me now knowing that I would one day face death & lay amongst all the ones gone before made me think of all the good things in my life, I have exceeded my own expectations, & while I may struggle with anxiety & feelings of not being good enough things will get easier & I should embrace the journey & experience. What it showed us above everything else is that life is precious & we should treasure the moments we have every day no matter how small. All in all it helped to take the fear of death away, it sure was a peaceful place to be. -

Tired of the truth... Tired of doubting
by Deltawave ini'm reaching out here, i've known ttatt for about 3-4 years now.
sadly when i first grasped it i had a total mental breakdown as i was a hard core firm to the core pioneer and 110% believer of my faith.!
now nearly 2years on after my breakdown i still have to attend to please my jw wife.

Deltawave this is a most unpleasant time for you & incredibly hard to come to terms with. You wrote you had a mental break down, 2 years isn't a very long time. I would not worry so about your wife at the moment. You don't have to go on ministry & you don't have to go to the meetings. Just explain to her that you need for your brain to rest so that it can heal. Help her to get organized to go then sit quietly have some alone time to relax. You arent well there is nothing wrong with that if those at the hall don't understand then they are the assholes, not you. Are you sleeping? this is very important we NEED sleep to function. If you feel you can face it see what is available in your area for counselling. Do what you can, try not to do what you cant or don't want to. SABIN. -

Hello Wirerider, it`s so nice to meet you. You sound very frustrated by your own situation, understandably so. Let me ask you all your studying & learning & reasoning while making sound sense didnt get your girl back did it. I would recommend that you read Steven Hassan`s book, Combating Cult Mind Control. You will have a better understanding of why they are so good at manipulating people. You don't just walk into an international company employing 8000,000 people & shut it down, however you may moan a lot about the conditions or wages, only a fool would leave without having another job lined up & that could take time. Besides you have to remember their are many who are perfectly content with the conditions & it would be a disservice to expect them to leave. We believe in freedom of choice on this forum. Please stay & join us you sound like a most interesting young man your thoughts are most welcome. -

where shall we go
by Sabin inyesterday i read something that hurt my heart.
at a talk given by a brother lyman swingle ( i apologize if i am stepping out of line by using this) he said "that if you leave the jw ( i find it difficult to refer to it as the truth now days) you may as well go jump off a bridge".
this i think is disgraceful talk to say to any body let alone an audience in which children are present.

PeteZ, Luke 11: 46, I think would be an appropriate scripture here "Woe to you who are versed in the law, because you load men with loads hard to be borne, but you yourselves do not touch the loads with one of your fingers!
I must confess I didnt even think about the particular wording, I just thought how wrong it was to use scriptures to pull people down when they should be used as a comfort. You are quite right though to point this out.
WHOM- relative pronoun, person-Jesus.
WE - personal pronoun, subject-disciples.
YOU - personal pronoun, 2nd person being spoken of by 1st person.
Interestingly Whom is used here as it is formal as opposed to Who which is neutral. Giving more weight to the scriptures subject Jesus.
I have learnt something new today. Thank you.

I agree with Island man, we need the media involved some how. What about Ted Grundy he is a good reporter & has already reported on the chid abuse corruption within the organization. I thought of some-one else aswell who`s advise would be good to seek. Barbara Anderson. She`s been on the inside and is known for her calm honesty & is well respected.
The other thing I want to say is that I don't think we should on any level be mean to any of those who have chosen to stay in, no matter how tempting it is. I don't wont to see us conduct ourselves with the same narrow minded unkindness that is so prevalent in this organization.
Also the not given of names that Eden suggested is a good idea although they will use this & call us cowards " Unlike us who stand in full view & do not hide our faces, these cowards haven't even the courage to write their names. They do these things in secret because they are untrue". BlahBlahBlah. I like it, they wont have a name to persecute a person. We are out there but who are we. We will take back our power from them the BASTARDS.

Yesterday I read something that hurt my heart. It got me thinking of a particular scripture that is thrown at us over & over for years & one that parents quite often use on their offspring.
John 6:68, Lord, whom shall we go away to?
In the context that JW`s use this scripture there is some truth to it, however not in the way we have been taught to believe it. The simple fact is our friends, family, whole social life has been constructed for us by this captive religion so when we wish to leave we literally have no where to turn. We will be alone & that is not something that we as humans don`t relish in fact it scares us silly.
Concerning Prov 18:1, where it speaks about the one isolating himself is seeking his own selfish longing, that may also apply here, as we have been deliberately isolated from all norms of society & not allowed to mix being that we were part of the chosen. HAHA. Also if our thoughts & actions don't line up with the Borgs then we become unworthy associates & as a result are forced into isolation with the intention of making us feel alone & ashamed, thus forcing us back with our tails between our legs, down ward spiral of depression, suicidal. All the time having these kind of scriptures thrown at us or playing over in our minds.
For anyone here struggling as I know I do myself at times I hope this will help you to reason that these so called religious nut cases are in fact nothing more than a bunch of unfeeling, uncaring, uncompassionate, lying BASTARDS. Who knowingly take these scriptures out of context in order to keep us feeling that we are unworthy & afraid to look else where for the support we may need & reject the friends we may find to help us through life.
WE are not the problem & we can & will find many good friends & much support outside of the self righteous congregations of JW. Take a deep breath & small steps. We are many.

Are the GB very intelligent men with higher than average IQ? Or are they stupid men who were put in their position by sheer “LUCK”
by John Aquila inare the governing body of the wt wickedly smart with extremely high iq or are they leaders of the wt because they were at the right place at the right time.
(in other words, pure luck )-think lottery.
ive seen them talk in jwtv and you can never convince anyone in the whole world that these guys are in the same category as someone smart or cunning like jim simons who founded renaissance technologies or bill gates.

They are Chameleons changing their colour to suit their environment in order to survive, thus using natures protection they can remain invisible to their enemies, yet sneak up on unsuspecting insects. They are the perfect invisible predator. They hide who they really are & mask their true intentions from their victims for long periods of time. They make use of the fact that for most people the delivery of the message is more important than it`s content. A confident, aggressive delivery packed with fancy jargon, clichés makes up for the lack of sincerity coupled with the believe that they are truly special beyond everyone else & thus deserving they have no conscience about taking what they want, what effect their decisions will have on others, especially those at the bottom of the pile who in their opinion will not be getting through Armageddon anyway. Narcissistic people will worry for the attention they will take from them, anxious people will find them comforting many will find them exciting to be around.
High IQ - some of them sure.
Stupid - No. They are to calculating to be stupid.
Luck - I doubt it. If you know how to play the card game & know the cards that the others hold & are prepared to cheat, need I say more. How ever you look at it honest people wether they stay or leave are aware that something is very wrong at the top.

disfellowshipping
by Sabin inif disfellowshipping was to be done away with, aside from the authorities that should be informed of child abuse so it may be dealt with legally, how should these one`s be dealt with within the congregations?.
-
Sabin
Deltawave, so what your saying is that it should be a conscience matter that each individual should make their own choice wether to associate with some-one.
Islandman disfellowshipping & shunning go hand in hand, they wont have one without the other. 80% of JW`s love it until it`s them of corse.
Truthseeker, your right I don't believe they can be reformed into a more kinder org. Their nuts.
