"when going to a restaurant or some place else, so we could "give a witness."
Yeah, that was me :-(
Peace - LL :)
this year at the dc, we were expressly told to wear our badges at all times, even when going to a restaurant or some place else, so we could "give a witness.".
did any of you hear follow through with this arrangement?
did you have one of those "fantastic" experiences, when someone commented on your badge?.

i have friends who have put together this page, i would like to know your opinion on it.. http://www.fortunecity.co.uk/jodrellbank/hyperdrive/479/knowledge_book.htm.
randy.
I echo S Dogma comments:
I think the amount of drugs I would need to do in order for that page to make sense would be probably kill a horse.
On purpose - Maybe, maybe not. But I do remember picking up literiture at Bethel and seeing a 'demonized' tract inside one of the watchtower magazine. I said "How did this get in there???!!!" Until this day I wonder how it got in there. It must have been an inside job, b/c I got the mags from the inside.
Peace - LL
have you had any close calls?
what's the closest you've ever been to kissing it good-bye?
did your outlook on life change because of it?
Ohio - Whew, that was a close call. Nice to have you here and now :)

Elsewhere - Ur story about your brother says it all about the Jdubs mentality
Now that he thinks it's a good idea to shun me...
Go figure.

Wow - Memories! The longest day in my life, but the events happened in seconds. It was during 9/11 - My job building was not to far away from the WTC. When the first tower collapsed I was looking out the window and suddenly the streets, one by one, was being filled with smoke. The smoke was just shooting straight up in the air - like toast popping out of a toaster, but only it was smoke - poof, poof, poof - one square block at a time. However, I couldn't see that the Tower collapsed, b/c my window didn't have a view of the Towers so I thought, as I saw the smoke coming towards me in sequence, that all the buildings in the area were being blown up. Immediately I reasoned - "Damn I have seconds to try and escape." So I ran down the steps (6 flights) and as I was at the 3rd landing I said "this building should go right about - NOW!" As I braced for death I thought - "Damn, I don't want to die on the staircase - Oh well." As a few more seconds passed, I realize that I was still alive, so I continued down the steps only to enter the lobby that was filled with smoke - visibility was ZERO! After a minute or two I saw people (police men, firefighters, and the like) running into my building covered with ashes, etc. It wasn't until about 10 mins later that someone told us that the Tower collapsed, and that accounted for all the smoke. So for a second I thought I was 'toast' - All I thought about was "Damn, I don't want to die on the staircase." It wasn't until I got home that I realize the 'big picture' when I watched from my balcony, the area of the Towers just burning for days.
Peace - LL :)
Edited to answer - Did my outlook on life change? No, not really. B/c once I left the BORG I realized that death is a part of life, and that death is as natural as breathing. People die every second of the day - What makes me so special to live. I love life and my family but I know it's just a matter of time before it's all over.
goodbye for now.... .
at the outset, i would like thank simon for this site.
it is truly a great place for xjws to hang out and discuss topics that interest us.
Xena - Thanks for giving me a clue as to want this is all about:
Bush/Kerry Banners on JWD: CLICK ON THEM FOLKS- Don't just SEE them there and then speak. If you click on either one you go to a Kerry website. THAT is what people are bitching about. Hardly balanced for a forum of this size and the realization of that is in this thread. Whether the owner of this site cares about the realities of that with regard to his forum is totally up to him.
I will make this observation - I've spoken to at least three people who was banned from this board -one way or the other, and each time I'm shock that a XJW could get kicked off a XJW website. Granted, I don't know all the details as to the banning but is it really necessary? Is this place the same as the BORG regarding dissenting voices? Just asking?
Peace - LL :)
yup, we all know you have one.
it's what you are sitting at right now reading this thread.
desk your computer sits on.
Zev - Your desk looks like you are preparing for the watchtower study :) Is that the reasoning book I see?
LL :)
just an update for those of you who read about my decision to send my mother a letter.. my mom received my letter yesterday and then today she met me for lunch.
all through lunch she didn't mention anything that would be considered witnessing.
i was shocked.
Wow - that turned out pretty well. Thanks for the update, and may the cordial visits continue.
Peace - LL :)
i'm sure that i would've, believing that jehovah god would be proud of me.
I would have - without a doubt.

cosby has harsh words for black community
by don babwin, associated press writer
chicago - bill cosby (news) went off on another tirade against the black community thursday, telling a room full of activists that black children are running around not knowing how to read or write and "going nowhere.
Another good read, thanks for posting that Flash -
What I like about this subject is that it opens the way for meaningful discussions. In order for better relationships between races to forge ahead, open dialogue has to take place. Unfortunately, when this problem is discuss it brings the worst out in people. I think we need to ask ourselves why does this topic generates so much emotion?
Often times when we discuss this we talk about the surface issues, but this subject matter goes beyond what we see or what we think we see. I think when we openly discuss the core problems it will lessen the problem WEB Dubois mentioned that now applies in the 21st century ""The problem of the twentieth century is the problem of the color-line." - W.E.B. DuBois, The Souls of Black Folk
, February, 1903.
Anyway, just a few comments on what was said:
big boi - What he's saying has been said before it's nothing new
~ Amen
Dan the Man - That is an interesting article bigboi, and I think Chris Rock's approach to the problem is far better than grumpy-old-man Bill's.
~ Oddly enough, I think CR is instrumental in this issue. B/C during his comedic commentary both races actually think about the problem - they may not during the laughter but it hits them later. That's the genius of CR. I'll never forget when he talked about trading places with him, and he is rich! :)
XQS - I have seen more money invested in spinning rims and woofers than tuition percapita in my "hood"
~ I agree, but I don't see that in my 'hood.'
Yiz - Just the same they called Clarance Thomas one [uncle tom] as he became a US Supreme Court Judge.
~ Well, they didn't call CT an UT b/c he became a SC Judge, they called him an UT b/c he opposed the very things that got him into Yale and on the bench.
Satanus - There was a time when irish were treated worse that blacks.
~ Don't think so, it doesn't really matter, but I still doubt it.
big boi - Everybody is owed their basic civil rights as a human being.
~ AMEN! Now that's the American I want.
el kabong - Schizzle my Hizzle my fizzle or whatever it's called is NOT going to pay the bills or put food on the table for anybody except for Snoop Doggy Dog.
~ Ain't that the truth. Now we are talking about one of the root causes of racist - Capitalism.
JT - as a black man i don't expect to be treated like a white man - that is reality.
~ So true, In fact that's one of the biggest differences in the races - Minorities are judged immediately by their skin color before they are judged by anything else. Other people may be judge by their credentials first, but for the most part, not Black folks. We can been seen a 'miles away' and a decision is made one way or the other. Same applys for women, handicap, etc.
JT - and as a tax payer i have to pay for hot sex that I DIDN'T EVEN PARTICPATE IN
~ Excellent observation and a damn funny one at that :)
roy batty - While Cosby donated millions to help the black community, Jackson uses his connections and influence to line his own pocket.
~ Bingo! JJ is all about the title of his latest book "It's all about the Money."
Final thought on color - When I was in Germany, it was one of the few times I didn't feel like I was a 'Black Man.' I felt like was a damn tourist and an American, but not a 'Black Man'. I didn't feel the daily pressures I feel when I come to work every morning in the city. Yes, Just being a 'Black Man' in Corporate America could be one of the hardest job in America and it could also be one of the most rewarding :)
Peace - LL :)
