During our family study I was required to pick three answers out of the article which I was to raise my hand to. I would write all the answers down in the margins. Speaking and giving talks would leave me frozen in fear, so I was forced to "read" my answers. I remember my heart pounding.

Commenting At The Meetings---Did You Enjoy It?
by minimus inwas that important for you?
most people, i believe, forced themselves to give an answer.
i knew many elders and servants over the years being counseled because they rarely answered.. funny thing....my mom who is 88 cries if she doesn't give a comment.

I knew of a well known JW family that owned a large rockery. I learned that they had very shaddy business practices, even burying large pieces of machinery on their property in order to not pay the price for a proper disposal. Years after leaving the JW's, my husband went to their business to get some filler rock and they damaged his truck and they refused to pay for it. Their trucks drive around town in abysmal condition, leaking and smoking and in poor repair. Even the local JW's dont think much of them.

What would be your favorite job if you could do anything.?
by new hope and happiness inon the basis that most of us realise the w.t wasnt really the best " job" or way to spend our days, it would be fun to find out what people would really have liked to have done with there lifes and if this is still possible.
or maybe its not even a very realistic ambition just a dream.
in my dreams i stay at home all day and make a living from being a professional artist.maybe i need a phycholgist?.

The Venting Thread
by minimus inthis thread is for you to vent about anything (within guidelines) that you want.. i'll start.. i'm sick of people who complain about how cold the weather is and then you have two 85 degree days and now they can't wait till autumn!.

I hate it when people do not re rack their weights at the gym. I am the one lifting (6) 45lb weights off the squat rack so I can rep the bar. Its a small vent atleast - in general I am pretty upbeat :)

Has anyone ever saved another persons life?
by LogCon ini don't mean you advised them and they changed their lives around, kind of saving a life.. i mean right before your eyes, right now, you had to do something to save a person or they would be dead.. how did it make you feel?
did it have any affect on you?.
forty years ago i was working on a construction site and a back-hoe had loosened a large boulder.

My gluttonous JW ex husband stuffed his face with to much chewy steak and started choking at the dinner table. Without a second thought I jumped up and preformed the heimlech and the peice of steak flew across the table. Everyone else at the table was still sitting stunned. I sobbed a little after cause it was rather tramatic.
I joke that I should have taken the insurance money, but even though he is an ex and a turd, I never wish death on anyone.

After a "loving" sheparding call about the reasons why I should stay with an abusive (ex)husband and how a divorce would be unscriptual , I never looked back. Inactive since 2006.

Looking Back, Are You Embarrassed By Your Attitudes, Speech, Actions as a JW?
by minimus ini think of how judgmental we were as witnesses.
"worldly ones" were almost as bad as disfellowshipped ones but not as bad as "apostates"..

I was so so sure of myself, with a confidence that only a zealous JW can muster. I knew something other did not! I was going to be saved and other were not! I am better than you cause I know "the truth!".
After leaving the JW's, I actually read and understood that the world works much differently. I am embarrassed at my cockiness. I am embarrassed how other must has thought I was so ignorant.
To date, one of my worst fears is to appear "stupid", so I read read read and I love and educated debate. I dont hold strong opinions about things I do not thoroughly understand. If we disagree, thats okay, cause I might have learned something new about the other side of the debate.
