I have been out for about 12 years and I am afraid I already do not reconise the fomer cult I was in. It makes me really sad that my mom and brother were in that audience listening and taking notes.

Over 1,000,000 in attendance and you are worried about tight pants?
by Separation of Powers inyou know, rarely in the history of the org has a group this large congregated to hear from "mother.
" they incessantly speak of the huge group that met at yankee stadium in 1958...the over 250,000 that congregated to be instructed by jehovah.
but over the weekend, there were over 1,000,000 people excited to hear some type of direction, some type of encouragement, something to help them hang on "just a little longer.".

This should be an interesting book to read
by Doug Mason ini have not yet read this book, but it should be interesting:.
"the better angels of our nature: why violence has declined", steven pinker.. the publicity blurb states:.
"believe it or not, today we may be living in the most peaceful moment in our species' existence.

I am sorry.....I had to take a moment to pick my jaw off the floor when I saw the video that Sail Away posted. I guess this would have been less shocking to me 15 years ago, but now I am just to far removed from it.
My ex husband and I divorced so we dont have any lingering ex JW issues. But I do have some funny convo's with my current non JW amazing husband about my former beliefs. He still chuckles when I tell him I believed in Noah's Ark.

I am telling you this - cause I experience it.
Handmade book bags "custom made" for door to door witnessing and "custom made" bible covers.
This "brother" made them out of cheap vinyl and plastic threading on his leather sewing machine in his garage and would sell them to the brother and sisters. He had them in all sizes and prices, just like a retail store in his garage.

I was a good JW and married a man who loved god
The problem was, he loved drugs and had no job
He also was a real jerk and spoke badly to me
But he was in good standing, and of my parents I wanted to be free
A lost 6 years is what I had to show
I moved out with no place to go
The JW’s said I cannot leave him
So I told them were to shove it and they could marry him

What will you do to celebrate Oct 2 2014?
by jwfacts inlike most people reading this, i was convinced that by 2014 the new system would 'definitely' have been operating for at least a decade.
now that i know this is not going to be the case i am going to have to think of some way to recognise 100 years of wts let downs and failed predictions.
there is no point fretting over the past so i think it will be a good time to celebrate.

In my family, I am out along with my little brother. My older brother is still in. 1/3 born in success rate.
My ex elder dad stopped going 15 years ago also, that might alter the stats...

Come with me, back to the 1980s--you know want to.
by FlyingHighNow ini don't know about ya'll, but i did not appreciate the 1980s enough.
i was too busy lamenting how different they were from the 1960s and 1970s to bask in and appreciate how wonderful they were.. this is 80s music, especially new wave music, and 80s fashion and culture appreciation thread.
what did you love about the 80s?

Saturday morning field service is a joke
by hoser ini havent been going door to door saturday mornings for since i can't remember when.
i have been putting in regular reports to the congregation but the last time i actually went on a door was probably six months ago or so and it has been at least 2 years since i did a saturday morning.
9:30 we showed up to the group arrangement, we waited outside because we were not sure that it was the right place.

Wow - my mind is blown - When did Saturday service start up at 9:45 a.m.????? I remember 9:00 a.m. - I would have loved to get a little more sleep on a Saturday.
I do remember a donut break quite frequently. And those return visit hauls were nice break.,,,,
