Things to do when they come knocking

i encourage people not to either verbally or physically harass jws when they come knocking on the door.. saying this, i recognize that it is ever so tempting to try the following:.

1) answering the door wearing a t-shirt with a logo such as "satan rules", "member of the evil slave class", and "1914, 1918, 1925, 1975, what's next?".

2) answering the door wearing only underwear (or less).. 3) dropping a name of some governing body member and suggesting that you got to know him when he and you were in jail together, and then ask if they know if he's stopped some particular filthy habit.. 4) answering the door while brandishing a pitchfork.. 5) say that you're so glad they came and that it's good for people to have an open mind about their religion and to be willing to change; once you get them excited with this, show them a copy of the wtbts failed prophecy list (backed by quotes from their own literature) and ask if they are open minded as well.. 6) as most jws have never looked at a copy of _studies in the scriptures_, tell them that you've gotten many of your religious beliefs by pyramidology; then show them a copy of _sits_ and point to the wtbts copyright notice.. i have #5 and #6 ready for the next visit.

Yes,I agree with you. I have dear friends that are slaving for the org. I know for sure that they truly believe that they are right in what they are doing. I love them very much. They are VERY nice people, even if they shunned me (if I was DF/DA) I would put it down to their 'mind conditioning' which I do not believe is there fault, when you take into account that they are born and bred JW's.

I would never want to attack their beliefs, as I feel they would just 'dig there heels in'
If I want to help them them it HAS to be slowly and gently.

By the way TMS, I have always enjoyed you posts, I value your experience in the org. especially when you talk about 1975 and assemblies. Hope to hear some more!

What are they preaching?

i was wondering what the newest thing being preached by the wts is.. since they changed the 1914 generation teaching, what has replaced it?.

I have been wondering about this myself.......what on earth are they to tell people????

The F.Service offers for April and May are the W/A and the Knowledge book or Require brochure.

For July it's many of the 32 page brochure eg: Does God really care about us? Enjoy life on earth forever, The government, Should you believe the Trinity? What is the purpose of life- how can you find it?
Or they can offer the newer brochures of- A book for all people, Our problems- Who will help us to solve them? Spirits of the dead - Can they help you or harm you? Do they really exist? Will there ever be a world without war?

Your post was so right!! The smacking, and 'low status' of the little ones in the org. is one of the reasons why I left.
I feel so happy that I can now bring my children up the way that I feel fit. The looks off others (elders etc) is a tremendous pressure for parents to really expect waaaay too much of their children. It is truly sick.

**** I have seen small children, back handed in the mouth, for
whispering, beaten on the legs with wooden spoons, and beg
for "HELP" when finally taken to the bathroom for a more
severe flogging..!!!!! Why..?? Mostly because of disapproving
looks from the Elders....and the "More Mature" ones.

I have never experienced children being actually hit with an instrument, but the regular smacks on late evenings when they should be in bed like all the other kids is just not right. Too many meetings.

Like others, I have a few tales to tell, it's the same the JW world over it seems. I would say that, yes, it's seems clear that the GB DO NOT have kid's......they have no idea have much you can love a child more than yourself. What a shame for them!

Poor JW children again (touching a sore tooth)

i've been reading the thread about children and brooding over the whole issue of kids-n-cults for a couple of days now.

yesterday i had to outwait a group of immovable amish youth blocking the doorway out of the local grocery store(to many local amish, 'english' are generally invisible unless they want to sell us something.

), and they got mixed into the brain stew with the jw kids and the recent moral self-righteousness of certain jw posters here.

I feel so sad for all the children that are spanked at assemblies/meetings. It's ridiculous to expect them to sit for so long....they've done as there told all week at school. They should be playing/sleeping like all the other kid's their age.

The org. is stuck in a time warp,I don't believe the leaders even have children themselves, they have no idea.
They put fear into parents who then make their children tow the line as well. I wish the parents would WAKE up!!

come now, i know the amount of people who "realized that wt doctrine was in serious error" and politely handed in their letter of resignation has to be very small.

the level of bitterness and hostility towards the closest-to-what's-biblical organization has to develop some other way.. what did you do?

Got very tired, discouraged, conflicted very much as to how I felt I should bring up my children. (Too much Smacking in the KH, want my kids to have an education and a balanced life....not the fear that I've had).

Yes, I can relate to this. The doubts have no answers from the org......dare you utter them!! I don't know how you have managed to stay in the org. as long as you have, when you've had these doubts. For me I had to be decisive for the sake of my children,I can't teach them what I'm unsure of.

Yes, it is without doubt difficult (to say the least!) to leave when you have so much to leave behind. It will take lot's of COURAGE...!!

I wish you happiness whatever you decide!!

Anti JW newspaper article

this looks like a friendly forum and i will do my very first posting here because i finally feel i can trust someone to help me.

i published an article on the local newspaper against the jw and part of my sour experiences while i was a jw; they only let me use 300 words and deleted the most important ones ofcourse.

my problem is that iam now getting very negative responses to my article and i need you all to help me write something positive for us ex-jw's for a change.

It seems that you could be truly disgusted!

I can imagine that if this is you FIRST time on the board, and that you are a very zealous JW, then you will be of the mind to expect faults, lies…..everything BAD from this board. BUT, I invite you to read as much as you can, check in the scriptures, check the societies publications, IF your present understanding is TRUTH then you have nothing to hold you back from such an investingation.

I was brought up in the truth, I have TWO young children. I felt that it was very important to MAKE SURE of what I was teaching them. I will give you a few of the reasons why I personally CANNOT teach my gorgeous children the JW doctrines.

1) When child asks 'when is the paradise coming? I tell them I DON'T know. Like others on the board we have lived through the disappointment of 1975. Also, I have come to realize that the 'society' has said that the end is coming MANY times. I believe this to be VERY presumptuous. You will find on this board information regarding these 'wolf calls' . You will also know of many scriptures where presumptuousness is very much warned against….think about it.
2) How many thought that they would NOT grow old in this world? How do you think those back in 1918 felt, when they sat and listened to the "Millions Now Living Will NEVER Die" talk?? They are probably mostly DEAD!
3) I do NOT want the same disappointment for my children.
4) I personally feel HEARTBROKE that the FDS is NOT as it claims to be.

There is much more that I could say to you, if you have children, you owe it to them to MAKE SURE of what you are teaching them.....surely, that's the least you can do for them.
