today i found out that the elder i admired and thought to be above reproach, was commiting adultery.
the body of elders found out, and he was not removed.
he also gave his part at the assembly.. this is the same elder that told me not to get married.
Scorpion,
That is so sad.
No wonder I don't trust the elders.
I have to say that there are some 'good' elders...my best friends (at present) husband is one of them.
What mess comes from trying to dish out 'perfect law' by 'imperfect men'.
Those poor children.

i am preggers.. just left the doctor's office and my hubby's office.

Brilliant news! Parenthood is grand!

please listen.
im not the first to go through this, i wont be the last.. i was raised in the truth as a result of my mum starting a study when i was 4 years old.
that was in 1968. the hysteria of a 1975/armageddon was just beginning to take root and the sister who studied with my mum was 100% sure of it.
nicolau,

did you ever have to exclude a loved one from your wedding?.
it truly made me sad, when i read the posts on this particular thread.
To everyone,

Did you ever have to exclude a loved one from your wedding?
It truly made me sad, when I read the posts on this particular thread. They say JW's don't break up families. What a JOKE.
I personally know of a family that have been torn apart by the JW disfellowshipping policy. ( sentence passed 20 years ago, family in bits) Why should the sentence last forever?? The lifetime of the person that is Dfed.?? Bearing in mind that 'probably' most are now living a godly life. ie got married have kids, devoted family person, perhaps they have NOT returned to the JW religion, but they are perfectly OK people.
Life is too short, too precious, to even think of continuing such dreadful behaviour as shunning, avoiding contact with family members. THEY are your family!!! They will be there at your funeral, no doubt!!!
I wish that I could of posted something to these loyal JW's to help them come together with THEIR families……it's so, so sad.

hi, prisca,.
i am norm, and i am new here.. .
this post is primarily for those folk on this board, who post .
welcome Norm ! Glad to have you here :)
Prisca,
I have to agree with most of what you say. I too get the impression that threads are not being read, and therefore do not 'develop' as they used to. I enjoyed seeing a thread come to it's full potential. There have been some excellent posts which did'nt develop due to the copious amounts of threads started.
I have ONE suggestion to help ease this situation.
WHY NOT USE ALL THE FORUMS ???
All the recent newbies could of said Hello in Make New Friends.
There are a lot of threads that would of fit in nicely in Bible Research.
I think that using the correct forum would help immensely.
A warm welcome to everyone from H20. Hi guy's and Gal's!
I hope that no one is offended by my suggestion……..that's all it is a suggestion

this is normie thoughts on the threads about the truth..... i have huge doubts about a lot of things about the org.
i have been a jw for 20 yrs and still active(family reasons).
but nobody but nobody has refuted to my mind, the fact nobody does the evangelizing work jesus did.
normie67,
Whilst I can sympathise with your sincere question regarding the importance of the preaching work of the JW's . I would be very interested to hear your thoughts regarding Scorpions and Gophers comments on this thread.
I have recently become inactive, and have had to face such questions as yours myself. The points brought out by Scorpion and Gopher, definitely have a bearing for me, as to WHAT exactly we should be telling people when we go into the ministry? So much has changed, so many books you can no longer use in the ministry…now apostate material What are we to tell people???
Scorpion pointed out
*****Galatians 1:8-9 which says:
"However, even if we or an angel out of heaven were to declare to you as good news something beyond what we declared to you as good news, let him be accursed. As we have said above, I also now again, Whoever it is that is declaring to you as good news something beyond what you accepted, let him be accursed." (NWT)
Without going into the false statements, doctrines as well as all the false prophecies of the LDS faith, I will stick to the teachings of the JWs being this forum is for that. Did the apostle Paul teach the disciples in Galatia that Christ would return in 1914 and set up a visible organization with headquarters in Brooklyn, New York? When Jehovah's Witnesses preach their "gospel" or "good news" of the kingdom, they are actually preaching the doctrine of Christ's invisible return in 1914. They freely admit that the good news preached by Christians down through the centuries is not the same as what Jehovah's Witnesses preach.
...the Kingdom witnessing of Jehovah's Witnesses since 1914 has been far different from what Christendom's missionaries have published both before and since 1914. "Different"-how so?...What Jehovah's Witnesses have preached world wide since 1918 is something unique...the preaching of this good news of the Messianic kingdom as having been established in the heavens in 1914...(The WT 10/1/80 pages 28-29.
Of course with all what was said about the generation of 1914 not passing away before the end coming, I see an absense of mentioning the 1914 date today. Does this mean the good news of the WT will once again change as it so conveniently does when proven false, and how many will still strive for that rotten carrot dangling in front of them? And how many will continue to preach a different good news other than that of Christ?******
In addition, you have the wonderfully misleading talk of 'Millions now Living Will Never Die' 1918. How can you reconcile such false food at the improper time? Food, that no doubt made people sick with dissapointment?
Gopher said
****However, the main identifying feature of Christians is to be love. You know that John13:35 backs that up.****
For me LOVE and HUMILITY should STAND OUT from an organization claiming to follow/imitate Christ and Jehovah.
Just my two pennyworth

(I'm sorry if any of this has already been covered but I could'nt post yesterday)
the men who run the watchtower society tell us that jesus christ appointed them over all his belongings, spiritually speaking, in the year 1919. they point to christ's parable of "the faithful and discreet slave" found in matthew 24:45-47 to support this teaching.
my question for jehovah's witnesses is how do they know that he did?
did christ tell them he did so while appearing to them in a dream or vision?
aChristian,
It's so easy to see is'nt it? Enjoyed your post very much!
Thanks!

always late .
one of the watchtower society favorite themes is how incredibly late it is.
it is in fact always later than you think.
Norm,
Good post. It is a subject close to my heart, it is so wrong to keep people in such an expectant state.........so dissapointing:(
No wonder JW's are getting depressed.

there is a phenomenon in dub dom that i have always hated.
the circuit/district convention.. people will spend hard earned money, use up any vacation they may have to travel to a city they don't really have any particular reason to see to sit for entire days and listen to the same b.s.
they could sit and listen to at the meetings in their home kingdom hall.
Yeah, exemplary kids, that reminds me of my last big assembly.
They were interviewing the usual 'perfect' families. One sister, (who I knew) was explaining her situation of being a single mom, whilst managing to prepare for ALL the meetings with her children. It was explained how it was a pleasure for the children, they always answered up and enjoyed the meetings thoroughly.
This was all well and good, BUT this lovely sister OMITTED to point out that all her three children were actually HOME EDUCATED. The pre-study was all part of the children's HOME EDUCATION !!
Perhaps she was asked not to mention it, I don't know.
I thought of all the poor sisters that saw that item, and possibly felt that they could not manage to do all that this sister was doing, because they had to go to work, or just could'nt find the time. It would of put burdens on both parents and children. I felt it was somewhat dishonest to portray such a situation, whilst omitting all the facts.
