Larc,
Good, interesting question. I only like my mums home made fruit cake,
no other seems to come close.......well, unless coated with chocolate and plenty of cherries.

well, it's sunday morning and i'm sitting here posting on this board when i hear 2 car doors slam.
i peek out the window and see 2 elders walking up to the door.
since i'm still in my jammies, i told my husband to go get the door while i snuck into the bedroom.
Tweetiebird,
You jammy thing! They still let you have a KM! We have had two visit in 2yrs....no mags...nothing! Well, they did kindly let us know that our gorgeous kids will die now that we are not attending! [8>]
Still kinda spoils ya Sunday thinking that the 'men in black' might turn up! LOL

( I woke up this morning with thoughts of going to a meeting....just for the fun of it....for a laugh! HAHA There again do I really need to do that?)
i read crisis of conscience some time ago and it had a profound effect on me.
i just gave it to my ex-bethelite friend to read (he had already discovered the "truth" about the truth on his own).
he's about halfway through it and is in the anger stage.
jst2laws,
Thanks for your words of reassurance, I am looking forward to reading CC. I am very pleased to hear that Ray doesn't JW bash.
The reasons for which I personally have left, are all conlusions I came too more or less all by myself, so I now feel ready to read more. I have to confess that the 'stonewalling' I have experienced is so very frustrating. Only listening to 'encouraging' comments about the Org....... Talk about having your ears tickled!

Interesting comments......but what do you do with all the anger/frustration it may bring?

our congregation never once did a drama at an assembly.. my wife's congregation didn't either.. but some seemed to do them every year!.
was this favouritism or 'simony' do you reckon?
(a terrible word .
Our hall never did dramas, but the same 'gang' year after year, did the food 'prep'. (pleasant memories of the aroma of Bacon barms)

i have been inactive for a year now.
before that i was quite active, had only an average time slip but did a lot of things you cannot count.
but i had read r.franz and the internet.
GJW,
So sorry that the meeting left you feeling bad. I know that in the early days of my leaving, I had moments where I would tremble after 'speaking negatively of J's Org.' My mind is now clearer than it has ever been, thanks to the wonderful freedom I now have.
I have been 'inactive' for about 2yrs now, I promise you......It does get better.
I think you did just great meeting up with them, you may just of got them thinking a little deeper themselves!

whilst tidying up the ol' hard drive i came across "the purging of my soul", which i wrote as an intro to the philia group.
sounds very raw (i probably was) and thought i'd share it.... .
where do i start?
KenUK,
Interesting reading. I can relate to a fair bit of what you posted.
(((Hugs to ya pal)))
Ken, are your children 'in' or 'out' at present? Just wondering.

thirty nine years ago today, my parents were married.
i am very greatful for that winter day in 1962!
of course i wouldn't be here if they hadn't married, but more than that i am so lucky to have such wonderful parents who set an amazing example of how good a marriage can be.
Mulan,
That is fantastic! Many congrats!
Hope that you have a wonderful celebration......I'm sure you will with a daughter like yours!

I do feel that the positive imput which Xmas sends out, is far more important than any 'pagan' connections it may have.

My impression of celebrating Xmas for the first time (albeit very quietly) is that it is.......most uplifting, a far cry from other years!
