Would you be a GB member if you were asked ?
by atomant inoff course you need to think back to when you were a jw to answer this question honestly and properly.but hypothetically if you had the spirituality and knowledge and was approached to be appointed as a gb member would you have taken on the position?and if you did what changes would you recommend ?.

I would have taken on the role of a gb member when I was fully in. My family would say to me that I would ' crack a spiritual' because of my devotion to the scriptures. I was a little zealous & at times fully imagined myself being jesus christ, moses & the prophets. I was psychologically conditioned to the point of accepting death for the sake of my belief of being a 'chosen one'. If i was in the gb, the organization would be somewhat different to the way it is now. I'd give it a 'hippie' feel & promote peace, love & happiness. -

Most other born ins will understand your dilemma. As with anyone who has been physically or mentally abused, we all go through our own unique journey. Mine has taken years of study & research, depression & struggle, trying to understand the world in a whole new way. My liberation came when I decided to be my own person, responsible for my own actions & only answerable to myself. Learn the truth about the truth & convince yourself about what you believe, not what someone tells you to believe. You will grow in strength & character by becoming your own person, with your own set of rules to live by. Everyone here is a Conqueror! I found this song quite inspiring & may be helpful in overcoming self doubt....

The cognitive psychology of Internet gaming disorder
Show more- http://dx.doi.org/10.1016/j.cpr.2014.03.006
'Psychological problems associated with Internet gaming (religious belief) are increasingly recognized as a global problem (Ferguson et al., 2011)
Maladaptive cognitions include two main subtypes: (Adin & Sari, 2011) thoughts about the self and (Allison et al., 2006) thoughts about the world. Thoughts about the self include self-doubt, low self-efficacy, and negative self-appraisal. In basic terms, the individual has a negative view of his or herself and uses the Internet (the religion) to achieve positive social interaction and feedback from others. Cognitions about the self may include such thoughts as, “I am only good on the Internet” (in the religion) or “I am worthless offline (worthless outside), but online (inside) I am someone.” Cognitive distortions about the world involve generalising specific events to global trends. These may include thoughts such as “The Internet (the religion) is the only place I can feel safe” or “Nobody loves me offline (outside).” These two cognitive distortions are triggered by stimuli associated with the Internet (the religion) , and maintain excessive behavioural patterns of Internet (religious) use....the individual uses Internet gaming (religious belief) as a temporary method of distraction or escape from life problems. ...excessive gaming (excessive religious belief) may be maintained by a process of adherence to multiple rules that enable the player (believer) to reach desired goals...Withdrawal symptoms when Internet gaming (religious belief) is taken away are typically described as irritability, anxiety, or sadness...immersion in gaming (immersion in religion) also provides an escape from unpleasant emotional states caused by negative core beliefs about the self, others, and the real world..individuals may perceive people outside of the Internet game (outside of the religion) are less important and/or unable to relate meaningfully to the player (believer) ... Strict adherence to the online (inside) social group norms may be associated with the belief that the Internet game (the religion) is the only place that is safe and accepting of the player (believer) (Caplan et al., 2009). Accordingly, individuals may perceive people outside of the Internet game (the religion) are less important and/or unable to relate meaningfully to the player. (believer)

Jw's and beards
by wannaexit inwithout going into details.
it appears that new light might be coming down the pipes that beards are acceptable.
-
Ozman
If beards are allowed, there will no doubt be instructions on how it should look, length etc. Old brothers can't look like santa or young ones looking like hipsters. Jesus shows how to wear a beard as illustrated in the watchtower.

Isaiah 7:14 is a prophecy about the messiah whose name is Immanuel, so why the name Jesus ?
by smiddy inmaybe i`m getting old and senile , but i was thinking about something that used to nag at the back of my brain when i was "in" , wasn`t the messiah to be called immanuel ?
according to isa.7:14 and not jesus ?.
why was the name immanuel substituted with the name jesus .?.

Hi Smiddy. Good question. Immanuel seems to be a 'symbolic' name. I just spent some time researching it in the old & new testaments ...& found myself reading about virgins, thrones, revenge & god killing people. Jesus doesn't really fit the prophecy. Yes he raised the dead but he didn't smash the shit out of everyone like the jews were expecting. They were probably thinking ' what's this love your enemies crap'??? It is interesting that there were no other jesus or yeshua's in the old testament. Maybe I missed that meeting 😊

Any regrets whilst you were in the Org
by Tallon inthe biggest regret i have is of 'shunning' persons who were disfellowshipped and for 'marking' ones deemed as bad association.. there's no way i can approach these people to ask them for forgiveness as i've emigrated to another country however, by this post i'd like it to be known..

I unfortunately assisted my cousin in over 30 years ago. He no longer talks with us. I think back about the urgency I expressed to him about 'the end' & how wonderful it was to 'have the truth'. Doh!

Obedience At Its Blindest
by Nevuela injust a little something my "anointed" roommate posted on facebook a few months ago, along with replies from her fellow jws.
it was chilling to read, so i took a screenshot and saved it for future reference.
please feel free to share your own stories of blind obedience within the org.

Hi Nevuela. I tried the link but it seems you need a tumbler account to use it? I think I also accidentally pressed the dislike button & cannot change that. My apologies. ...look forward to reading the story once I can access it. May I ask what the gist of the story & replies is?

The worldwide fear policy....
by The Rebel init seems the media heavily underline the dark side in everything.
yes there are really bad problems in the world and they need to be addressed.
but we also need to keep on the positive.
-
Ozman
Hi Rebel. It's nice to hear that point of view about the world. I agree that although there are some negative things going on , there is so much to be grateful for. It is an amazing time in history to be alive. Focusing on the positive & eliminating the negative, brings 'light' into life. There is no darkness in light. Thanks for putting your comments up. Your message needs more exposure!
