  JWs go door to door because they HAVE to, because they are pressured and bullied into going. If they passed a decree tomorrow that it wasn't a requirement for salvation, no one would go out.

  Exactly. I used to be a pioneer and even then I HATED the door to door work and always felt embarassed and uncomfortable doing it. It just never felt right.I hate to impose on people for anything.

  You would think that in 2011 they would use other alternatives like radio, TV, internet (not that joke of a website they have now) to get their fake message out there, but no. That costs money you see, and the top dogs wouldn't be able to enjoy all the luxuries they currently have. Now that I'm out the hellhole and I see JWs going D2D - especially the ones working by themselves who are probably the despondent, mistreated unpopular ones - I feel really bad for them.

  Things that made you cringe at "the meetings"

  i always cringed so hard when a "brother" or "sister" would make some overly heartfelt comment about jehovah-something, usually related to a personal experience of theirs, and get all teared up and/or start crying.. once this fringe dude that's been df'd twice now was giving a talk and kept having these long awkward pauses where he looked like he was real stressed out, then he would start up again, stutter, slip up, and repeat the process until he looked down and went "i, i just can't do this" and walked off the stage and left the hall.. it also made my spchincter pucker when a young person would give some super devotional comment on how much they love big j and whatnot, which would make the congregation all smile in their hearts and wag their heads in approval..

  Not that I don't believe in a creator, because I do, but one of the many reasons I left is because 'Jehovah' damn sure didn't hear or answer any of MY sincere prayers.....

  I think it's disgusting the way the thread starter is gloating over what is an extremely sad tragedy. People like him make ex-JWs look bad. I'm not happy about this incident in the least, whether it gives JWs a bad name or not. Two children are dead and an obviously mentally unstable woman's life is over. It's nothing to be getting all happy about. Seriously, grow up.

  Saw some JWs this am! Couldn't stop laughing

  this morning on my way to the office i decided to stop at the gas station to get some coffee.... as i am pulling into the parking space i see this woman w a haircut from the 80's the typical below the knee skirt and long sleeve shirt (is a 105 degrees over here in the shadow).... i immediatly knew she was a jw... she had the latest wt in her hands..... she skipped me and approached a group of young mexican laborers that were resting in the back of a truck... but... as soon as i walked out of the gas station... guess who was waiting for me???

  the jw!!!

  she wanted to do a presentation.. i looked at her and w/o saying a word i started laughing so hard the guys in the truck started laughing as well... she just looked at me and still kept trying to push her literatrash!!

  Wow . . . strange how different things can be interpreted . . . or filtered. I don't see the majority of comments in either of those categories. All free! did was laugh when accosted in a Gas station . . . I presume as a spontaneous reaction, not as a conscious attempt to humiliate anybody. Where does all this shit come in to it?

  It doesn't come into it all. Sulla is just being overly dramatic.

  I don't understand a lot of the dub defenders/apologists on this forum. I seriously wonder why some of you guys even left in the first place. If it's not right to "humiliate" or disrespect a woman it shouldn't happen to a man either, it goes both ways. A lot of those "sisters" in the organisation ARE NOT INNOCENT anyway! Don't believe me? Visit most congregations in North London where I live.

  This experience IS funny, period. There wasn't any name calling or threats. It's not like the TS poured a bucket of paint over the JW and filmed it for youtube. Considering that many innocent JWs have suffered REAL persecution, this is nothing. I'm sure most of us on this forum have seen or experienced worse on the ministry. JWs are told by their leaders in Crooklyn to expect ridicule and rightly or wrongly, that is what they get from time to time. Boo hoo. If dubs don't like it, then don't bother people going about their everyday business, it's as simple as that.

  What benefit is all the power of people's lives to the Governing Body?

  if the 7 million jw's mindlessly follow the governing body (which the majority do), of what benefit is it to the governing body?

  that power over people's lives is nothing to boast about in my books.

  i conclude that the only reason they so desire this power is because it brings money, authority and security to them.

  IMHO it doesn't matter whether they believe they're God's organisation or not. The fact is, countless people have lost their lives over many decades because of their bullsh*t doctrine on blood and neutrality issues. That's the bottom line. These people - including children - aren't coming back to some fictitious la-la-land, Little House on the Prairie type eternal world. They're gone, period.

  Those who were lucky to survive like the women in Malawi who were sexually violated and beaten for not buying a cheap plastic card, have to live with mental scars for the rest of their lives.

  I won't mince my words when talking about these demonic, Jehovah Wickedness leaders. They all need to be put down like dangerous dogs with all the blood on their filthy hands. As for the rest of the organisation, once all the paedophiles and other crooks are locked up, the rest of the organisation needs to be disbanded.

  That is all.
