i had an argument with my mother over the phone because she was trying to tell me that the witnesses preach the entire world.

i asked about china and it stumped her.

several days later we were talking (arguing) on the phone again and she told me that "she asked an elder and they said the reason that china is not in the annual report is because it's all underground there.".

Don't they have numbers for "under ban" anymore? There is no way to quantify the under ban numbers, it was just one number and included all countries.

I guess I always thought the China numbers were there. They made a big deal about communism falling in Europe and so they were having thousands of baptisms a day--which was proof that the preaching work had been going on under ban, and now that they could have a convention it proved the interest was there all along.

But seriously, have you seen the great disparity in numbers? In WT eyes, more residents of 'christian" nations will be saved than "non Christian" nations. That's problematic.

Afreeman: Could you expound on this? I'd love to hear what they said and how they reasoned.

I was looking over publishers one day and their requirements. One Christian press would not accept children literature with talking animals. It made me giggle, but now I wonder if there is some school of belief that takes fear of animal worship to whole new levels.

OH MY GOODNESS. This clears something up for me. Sometime in the 90's I was reading something about ancient Israelites. It was mentioned that the Israelites did not keep animals in their homes. There was something about the wording the made me think they disapproved of animals in the house. They didn't actually say it, but the tone was there. At the time I thought I was simply reading something into it. NOW I think maybe I did understand.

If I read it right, the first 1.5 million will be tax free. After that amount certain gift credits and tax exclusions can be taken, with would probably exempt the other 500K. If more than one child inherits it, then they will both be below 1.5 mil and not pay taxes.

There is a table at this link that shows how gift, inheritence, and tax credits are applied. According to the table, using these credits means that the first 3.5 million is not taxed.

This is how I understand what I read. I'm not a lawyer, and it may be more complex. But you can give it a glance if you're interested.

Question about JC's

how would one prove that, in a judicial committee, the wrongdoer is not allowed to have guests in the room (witnesses)?.

In cases where you are being accused, then yes they use witnesses. But I actually asked if I could have someone with me for my JC. I wasn't being accused, I was confessing. They said no.

Well they don't Darth. they don't. Regarding the roads etc---if it was just you alone you wouldn't have them.

Also it IS a cross polination thing. When farms next to those with Monsanto seed let THEIR crops go to seed---a common practice before Monsanto--Courts have ruled that Monsanto's patent still holds, regardless of how that pollination happened. Monsanto prevents their customers from cleaning seeds and their neighbors too.

Darth you did pay taxes for infrastructure and roads, but you didn't build them alone. It was a group effort. As far as farms, are you familiar with Monsanto? Independent farmers don't want to sell out to Monsanto--the problem--they were allowed to patent life. As a result, they have taken farmers to court, because even though the farmers didn't buy Monsanto seeds, Monsanto claimed there was cross pollination. The courts have supported Monsanto. In the process they have bankrupted independent farmers.

I suppose I should say "good for Monsanto, they really worked, they don't ask for handouts, all Americans should follow such an example". But then I see the trail of broken farms and people they leave in their wake, and I realize, something is seriously out of balance.
