Wow, Tali, SA charges for their rooms in Canada? That's crazy. I know they don't charge for the rooms in my area, because I know someone that ended up there. Still, it accepted men only, was rather dangerous, and my friend got robbed. Perhaps that was unavoidable.
But they do open thrift stores around here, and I have to side with you on this. I walked around and was very surprised at how high their prices were. I was looking for a table and found the private--for profit---thrift stores were cheaper. In the end, even buying it new on sale was going to cost only a few dollars more than used at the S.A.
Beyond that, I don't know much about their operation. Except that confounded bell. I hate that bell at Christmas time. Yeah, I know, bah hum bug, but for heaven's sake, assaulting people with this horrible bell is no way to make them feel generous! LOL

Was MT in charge of donations and where they went, or did someone else deal with that?
It seems she was, but even if she was not, she travelled the world raising many millions of dollars, and she would have been aware they weren't being used for caring for the poor. That would still be fraudulent. Although from what I have read, she did have some determination about where that money went and had nunneries built around the world with her name on them.
The reason it is difficult to answer is because this organization was the only one in India that did not have to report on donations. They were accountable to nobody, and there was no transparency. I think they said the money was deposited in Vatican Bank, or something like that. They know at one point she raised 50 million dollars, and it was pretty clear that money was not used for the purposes advertised. They probably would have been able to use clean needles instead of needles rinsed in cold water.

I thought a little bit about that when I commented on what the Salvation Army did in comparison to MT. BOTR is not an atheist, and she actually talked to people that knew MT. But that's how it goes. When painting a militant atheist narrative, people look to confirm it at every turn, which means we cannot criticize religious leaders. Well we can, as long as they are not Christian leaders---or leaders they don't feel protective over. There are posters that put down Dawkins a lot, and we may argue his ideas and technique, but we never accuse them of having bad hearts that don't want truth for not caring for Dawkins. That's why I said these conversations are always raised to biblical proportions.
So far, only Jesus has been defended as vehemently. Weird.

It's getting harder and harder to stay sitting on my hands about what should be an obvious point that none of MT's defenders seem to have noticed yet.
Don't keep me in suspense!

That still doesn't address the issue that she discouraged, or prevented, people that could be saved from getting medical care. She seems to have taught them to just accept their lot in life and die. The Salvation Army doesn't do this.

The level of self hatred atheists have is so evident on this thread. Its outwardly manifest when they attemp to tear down the legacy of those did good for others because of their love for God. Atheists simply lack the same positive track record.
LOL. George, I'm going to give you the benefit of satire.

Your internal moral compass called your 'conscience' (a forgotten word these days)
What makes you say this word and concept is forgotten, "these days"?
