I like the one where the description says:

I tried to upload it here, and it didn't work. But it appears that you can get sent to Hell for leaning up against a wall in a wife beater, leaning against a motorcycle, and leaning an arm on a man's shoulder.

Let that be a lesson to you. NO LEANING. Horrible sin.

non believers what if your wrong ?

i do not wish to debate anything here like i have said in the past i have much respect for most on this forum (believers and non believers) i am simply wondering if the atheist or non god believers every worry about what if your wrong?

it seems that many who were jw for so many years attach jehovah/yahweh with the watchtower and since the wt is wrong than god does not exist.

i ask this question only because i care about people and salvation thats why i want to help as many as possable come out of this cult,and since i truly believe in god i dont know what is in the cinscience of those who dont.

in the 8 years I've been here I've rarely spoken about condemnation(I preach salvation in Jesus Christ)...but I'm not going to deny that Jesus spoke about it as consquence of rejecting Him.

How often you bring it up is not the issue. Nobody can ever judge the pureness of your motives for serving this god, not even you, because of the terror that is held over your head if you should refuse to do so. And I think that is incredibly sad. Abusive, violent types often claim to love their victims. And the victims often believe them. That is how I see this. A victim who has learned not to bring on the ire of a brutal, sadistic, violent being. Honeymoon stage, if you will. Victims of abuse thrive on the honeymoon stage. Yet it does not change the character of the abuser. The abuser has simply convinced his victim that it is an expression of love. A common story, but nothing beautiful about it. Just incredible sadness.

you said: "Using it [the bible] to teach that Christ and God will send people to hell, no matter that they might have done good to others, is twisting it to serve another purpose... other than to share good news and truth."...I haven't said that God or Jesus is going to send anyone to hell...I've stated that Jesus saves from the present condemnation...that is what Jesus said in john 8:24...man is already condemned...Jesus saves man from that condemnation...that salvation (or not) being the result of an action of the free will.

In other words, Myelaine, if sharing the good stuff doesn't work, then trying to scare a person into being grateful and loving this god might work? The beatings will continue until morale has improved? This is not good news. Not at all. But you have convinced yourself it is, and that's kind of sad. It's a terrible place from which to judge the world from. If threats of hell is good news to you and an expression of love, there is no telling how that could carry over into real life scenarios. It's messed up.

I am currently reading " The GOD delusion" by Richard Dawkins and would appreciate comments from those who have read it,pro &con.

i`m only halfway through chapter 4 and enjoying what i have read so far .so why am i asking for peoples comments now ?

the reason i have is this : i wish i had done something like this when i first was approached by the witnesses ,i beleive i would have been more informed to make some enlightened decisisions that would eventually shape my future .. whereas not doing so i spent the next 33 years a slave of the watchtower , and not just me but my wife and children , not that i`m suggesting i would be a slave of richard dawkins , but i can weigh up the pros and cons as i progress through his book ,then hopefully i can draw the right conclusions , if their are any.. smiddy.

LOL. Dawkins allows as much possibiliy for the existence of gods as he does for the existence of fairies---but if it makes you feel better to define him as agnostic, go for it! It proves nothing. It makes no point. It is not a trump card. It is a strawman. It is inaccurate. But hey, if it makes you feel good, do it! No god will be punishing you for misrepresenting the truth. It will make people snicker, but I think some people like that. It validates them.

Faith... and Trust: The Same Things?

in a discussion with some other dear ones, the question was asked as to what such ones put their faith in.

in response to one comment that"one can't function without faith," another disagreed, stating ones can, that "many do so every day... the ones who have trust" (in things like the sun rising in the east versus the west).

that trust extended to "faith" based "on nature and the natural order of things.

i really believe ppl hate god!

Unstop. Only believers can hate god. It's impossible for atheists to hate any gods. For us (see this through our eyes) it would be like hating Santa Claus, who only exists in the minds of some. There is nothing there to hate. I think most believers hate some gods---and some may hate them all, but that is only possible if a person believes. So your comment is correct. Some people hate god---the question is which gods and how many?
