I'm sorry Southern. As far as persecuting her, even the mildest opposition is defined as persecution, although they do recognize degrees. I remember a brother giving a talk and saying that when a householder promised to pray for us, that also was persecution. So you can see how touchy that button is.
Take good care of yourself. She won't let you take care of her.
I remember 3 years of Junior Achievement. You could barely keep us off each other. Assholes.
Okay, now I know I'm really behind here, but may I ask a question on the generations? I know it's been discussed in depth, but can someone sum it up for me in a couple of sentences?
What is the difference between the generation "clarification" of 1995 and the more recent one? If I remember, 1995 said that if a generation was simply aware of the happening in 1914, then that was still the same generation. Now I THINK they are saying that any generation that overlaps a generation is considered the same generation. Do I have that right? And if I do, I don't actually see the practical difference.
our dc coming up this weekend, i hated them and the only thing that kept me going ,was the reward of booze at the end of each day.my then wife, zelous judgemental pioneer, you know the type, not only droned on about my drinking, but about everyones drinking, a real barrel of laughs not.
anyway, one year we went to another dc, in newcastle, all seemed to be going well, until lunch.we went over to a hotel for lunch,i ordered my fresh orange and food, a few minutes later, the local jw,s arrived for lunch, they had all pr-ordered drinks, alcoholic drinks, and not one drink but many !!!
they were buisy getting boozed up for the afternoon session, way to go, i was about to join them, when my wife told me " dont even think about it ", anyway she was outraged, but there they were ,with thier little convention badges, men and women, young and old, getting merry, they dont even do that here in scotland, !!!.
seriously, half day in (already had an argument with the wife this morning about individuality in the organization in which she conceded that a lot of it is based on looks) and this is already getting on my nerves.
i'll post a rebuttal based on my annotations later in the week but one thing i got to get off my mind: saying the feminist movement (women going to work instead of staying home) and the diversity laws (allowing for homosexuality - but also religious freedom, racial discrimination etc.
) caused a lot of the problems in our world right from the stage.. there are less people here than last year - about 500 less..

Then goes on about a guy in Mexico that was abused as a child and thought he was gay until he studied and got a wife and kids and became an elder (healed! - or maybe he's diddling the kids in the back room of his KH).
Anonymous, I know you probably did not mean it this way, but please let me point out. Being a homosexual, even repressed, does not make one more likely to be a pedophile. I believe the WT has tried to equate homosexuality with pedophilia in the past, and that was extremely hurtful and anger making.

Er no, that wasn't relevent to the topic at all. The topic is This Convention Blows. You need to start another topic for the above post. May I suggest, This Pentecostal Blows?
I don't think he actually answered the wedding ring question. He said that the WT didn't prohibit it so it was okay, but didn't explain how it was different from Christmas---unless his point was the WT prohibits Christmas but not wedding rings, therefore the GB puts themselves in God's shoes---but no that wasn't the point---The org is God's wife. But that still leaves the question: Why is it okay to wear a wedding ring but not celebrate Christmas. Well they don't want to be tooo strict, but then there is the blood issue which actually kills people. So what is too strict and who decides? God's wife?
Sorry-I had to sit down. I was getting a little dizzy.
This answer was brought to you by a liar and tool of Satan.
