JS, I was just having this conversation recently. Toward the end of my time there, I noticed that every pioneer suffered from depresion, anxiety, severe low self esteem or obsessive/compulsive issues. This is puzzling for a group that has the happiest job on earth! Crazy huh?

hi- i just wanted to say that i have been checking the website out for a few weeks and have read some horror stories and some sad ones.
but i have been studying with witnessess for about six months and can't help but feel that they're completely sincere and maybe even, the true religion.
i love the watchtower and awake and to me, none of that seems crazy.
I thought the scripture about Satan transforming himself into an angel of light was understood as he would mislead---not appear as an actual being of light. An angel is a messenger, so he would be bringing a false message. Have they changed their understanding or are they simply adding to the meaning?
Has this phenomena ever been covered in the scriptures? I don't remember it. I recall one manifestation of Satan as being a snake. Other manifestations were symbolic in Revelation. I guess I'm just confused.

I remember an article on ballet in the magazine. Even there they warned about the productions you watch as Swan Lake features a final dance that takes place in the after life. (I'm going on what they said here. I saw Swan Lake, but won't pretend to understand the entire story. Just loved the dancing)

i had an argument with my mother over the phone because she was trying to tell me that the witnesses preach the entire world.
i asked about china and it stumped her.
several days later we were talking (arguing) on the phone again and she told me that "she asked an elder and they said the reason that china is not in the annual report is because it's all underground there.".

Well I'm able to post on this thread in firefox---it's the only thread with a problem.
The Witch video---Love it. But it's more interesting how he used leading questions to bring the people to a conclusion. When he was done it was absolutely obvious, yet it was ridiculous. This is how WT study works. There is only one logical answer because you have crafitly been led to believe such. They make it hard to see any other option, but that doesn't make it right. Witches aren't made of wood, no matter how much sense it makes after skilled questioning.

seriously, half day in (already had an argument with the wife this morning about individuality in the organization in which she conceded that a lot of it is based on looks) and this is already getting on my nerves.
i'll post a rebuttal based on my annotations later in the week but one thing i got to get off my mind: saying the feminist movement (women going to work instead of staying home) and the diversity laws (allowing for homosexuality - but also religious freedom, racial discrimination etc.
) caused a lot of the problems in our world right from the stage.. there are less people here than last year - about 500 less..
Who cares what JW's believe and why is that relevant in your response to Designs? Are you trying to convince him that JW's got it wrong---well I think he figured that out on his own. Yet you keep coming back to what JW's believe and use it to argue against a group that are NOT Jw's. Or are you possibly holding the fact that we were once JW's against us? Are you trying to remind us over and over of our past mistake? Do you continue to attack JW doctrine in your response to us as a way of setting yourself up as superior because you didn't make that mistake? Oh wait, I think you already answered that:

it was the summer of 1999. there i was sitting at the assembly when the speaker announces a new publication -daniel's prophecy or something like that.. there were a lot of eager dubs waiting to get their hands on that book.
we might learn the identity of the "king of the north"!
that's what i wanted to read, though in fact all the society had to say about that was "we are wise not to speculate".. looking back, it seems like this was the last book to properly address the end times prophecies - i didn't feel that way with the isaiah books, they simply regurgitated old stuff and made the anointed fit into every prophecy isaiah ever uttered.. it seems like the organization has gone on auto pilot, cutting costs, lowering print output and providing "how to live and function in the organization" books.. .
I was inactive for 2 years when Daniel's prophecy came out. I devoured it and went back to meetings. Ah well. I actually went through it twice before we studied it in BS. It drew me back to be as dubbie as ever. I should burn that book.

I know that some people get a bit unbalanced with their pets. But is that worship? That's crazy.
Take my little dogs for instance. I'm actually the master! They actually worship ME. I am GOD over them. They live with a constant awareness of my whereabouts. They beg me for food, I bless them. They beg to go outside, I bless them. They beg to crawl under the blankies, I bless them. Yes I am the god in this house! And as I crawl under the bed to reach the lost doggie toy in the back corner, I understand they do MY bidding. As I fluff up that special little pillow and arrange it just so under Petie's chin, I know who's boss! Yes....when I go outside and chase away a squirrel so that the dogs will quit barking but won't listen to me---I'm fully aware of who is in control.
I feed them so they don't eat ME. I keep them happy because I know the only thing seperating me from eternity is a well-placed Jack Russell on a step. Yes---I don't worship them. NO.
