I don't like the sexist nonsense either. Perhaps though, I am not an exception, but the rule. It pisses me off, as much as I disagree with Bachmann, that she is now reduced to a pic eating a hotdog. Yet sometimes perfectly nice people give in to such temptation. It's not a good idea to judge everyone on a weak moment.

And as far as solutions. This will be the eighth time I have asked this question, but no one has ever answered. What is the conservative solution to health care? I've never heard one, and can't get an answer. Now I already KNOW how conservatives hate Obama's health care reform. I am still waiting to here an alternative, serious, workable solution.

So far no one that could win an irrelevent Iowa crowd could win the general. Ron Paul can't win a primary because he is a social liberal. The rest can't win the general because they are unable to compromise. They are so fundamental that compromising politically is the same as compromising with God and that is unacceptable to these candidates. Independents will not go for it.

Perry's prayer meeting was disturbing. Many of the religious leaders invited belong to a religious movement withing the fundametal movement that believes that they must get control of the government and instill godly laws so that the rapture can come. They have been working on this for quite some time. I'm sure they believe god will give them the win--but god doesn't get to vote.

And DF, that's ridiculous. I can't stand Bachmann, she is a loon, but there is no need to launch a sexist attack on her. Trust me, it's not what goes into her mouth that's eyebrow raising, it's what's coming out.

While Bachmann makes bizarre claims about slaves and insists the African Americans had a better family life under slavery than under Obama's presidency, you are making the same tired old sexist attacks. Please. We have enough to work with here.

Maybe you should move to Canada with all the other sissy's friends to our North George. What's the matter, to tough for you here? Maybe you should try Guatemala or Mexico? Or maybe you'd fair better in Columbia or Venezuela..... Maybe you should leave George, America would be better off without you.....

Since you are painting liberals with such a broad brush, let me point out that this response is quite typical of conservatives. Always telling Americans to leave their own country for not agreeing with them. Always claiming that liberals are somehow "unamerican" whatever that is, because they have a different view of government's role---an argument, by the way, that is as old as our country. The founders had similiar struggles regarding the strength of the central government---which one would you tell to leave?

I'm here. I'm just as American as you are. I'm not leaving. Deal with it. If anything, telling someone you disgree with to leave their own country would seem to run counter to the spirit of the Constitution. Carry on.

Cantleave and Nugget are coming to visit me!

i met the lovely mummatron 2 weeks ago and had a fab day x. tomorrow, cantleave and nugget are travelling down with their kids and stopping off to say hi for a few hours before continuing through wales!.

im making a huge lasagne, and have got the beers and vino in.......so excited!.

will be great putting faces to the name, and im glad that at long last, i seem to be able to step out of my little world and make friends.. have got my smurf hanging outside the door so they know my house............. feels like an early christmas present, happy days!

Shepherding Calls Question

just a brief question concerning this practice.. my wife is about to get her annual shepherding call.

frankly, i did not know that this routine practice existed.

what is the purpose of it?.

Gary, some elders are pretty organized and they do shepherding calls on everybody. It's not always a warning sign. I've had them. The elders come in with their bibles and just have friendly conversation. They try to make sure all is well and then they share some "encouraging" scriptures and prayer. If something comes out in the course of the conversation, they will focus on that. It's supposed to make everyone feel upbuilt and cared for.

Start a carpentry project and run a power saw throughout the visit!

I've never met anyone that thought the bible was ENTIRELY mythical. Perhaps the comments you heard were simply hyperbolic and thrown out there during a debate.
