  whereas i do feel sorry for the parents i also celebrate the freedom of these kids who have taken control of their lives and not committed themselves to 7 paedophile protectors in crooklyn.. .

  Communisim failed because they replaced God with Man, religion was not replaced, it was renamed "athieisim".

  Communism failed because it was a totalitarian system that could not be sustained. A small group can only hold complete control over the masses for so long. Perhaps if it had been a more humane government, it would have held out longer--but humans don't tolerate total control, even from the most benign ruler, for long. The people had no say in their government and policies that they were forced to live under. We evolved as egalitarians, where all members were important---but in a totalitarian government only a precious few are deemed of any real value.

  The above statement is wrong. The answer is not that simple. Many complex issues were at play. Communism failed because it was brutal. Many god fearing Monarchies were also taken down because of their brutality. It's in our DNA.

  My brother told me this guy he met found out my brother was an atheist and was livid. He said, "Why don't you just eat your children than?" A third observer was stunned. He said, "If going to church is the only thing that prevents you from eating your children, then you have bigger problems than god."

  Our unique ability to cooperate and bond is what allowed us to evolve into the species we are in today. We aren't going to start eating our children when god is taken out of the equation---I could even argue that much children killing can be attributed to one god or another.

  It wasn't atheism that brought down Communism---it was that they made the same mistake that religious governments had made forever---they sought to enforce atheism on the people. They sought to exert control not only on actions, but on thoughts. Religious governments of old taught them how to do that---technology gave them the means to take that control to a limitless level. I'm sure if the RCC had such technology when they had power--they would have done the same thing.

  I was looking for a deal on pink lingerie!

  Yeah there is a huge difference between insulting an idea and insulting a person---it's a hard line to toe at times, I fail often.

  They really don't have any more options. This website is huge. Punch Jehovah Witness into google, and it's one of the first to pop up. Once here, in just moments, a TON of information pours out. And there is no unlearning what you have learned.

  Today ALL of the kids have access to computers and internet and it is impossible to for any parent to completely supervise the use. School, library, bedrooms---and if not there, on a tiny handheld computer on the school bus.

  They can only hope to intill a phobia.

  My friends, all 5 of them, and I sometimes to this to people, but mainly just to see how long we can make stuff up on fly and keep them believing while making the story more and more ridiculous

  That's very different. These were very serious lies at very serious moments----life changing moments. Moments when honesty was of the highest importance. It's hard to explain, but noone with a conscience could wreak and sustain this kind of havoc.

  You know what I read about them, most don't kill people. They just destroy lives. However if they DID kill someone--it wouldn't really bother them. Mostly they are opportunisitc--and if acting a certain way gets them what they want---they will charm you to death. No real attachment though.

  I actually saw this question a few years ago---and I STILL got it wrong! I think my exhusband was a sociopath. That's not bitterness talking---I actually researched his behavior and became very disturbed. He could tell the most bizarre lies about the most important things---and yet was never bothered by it. Most people believed him. Friendly, charming, popular---and completely false.

  And when I say lie---I mean this was HUGE. He even made up a baby to get time off from work! I received a plant with a balloon and a teddybear from his employer. I had no idea what was going on, until I went in to take care of some of his business. They asked how the baby was and told me he took a week off from work to be with me! Now, what was he doing that week?

  i'm sick up to here (guestures to above head), of hearing the dubs trot out their brand name for their imaginary sky friend who is so loving they're petrified he'll murder them soon!!!!!.

  the other week i heard a conversation between 2 dubs that ended with the cliche: 'jehovah will sort it out!
