my dell inspiron 8500 that i bought new in june 2003 had 4 motherboards and one memory card replaced under warranty.
warranty expired in june, last month, and yup!
motherboard failed again, monday july 10. .
Does it help to know that less than an hour ago, our Air Conditioning went out?
You might remember I live in Fresno, well over 100 today.
We're already at 80 and the two hottest hours left to go.
Earliest anyone will come out is tomorrow. Maybe. LOL.
i visited my jw son and daughter - who were raised in the faith - in may.
my son is 37 years old, intelligent and is a hard worker and a good provider for his family.
we were having breakfast when my daughter-in-law mentioned the ' lump' on my sons back.
My son removed his shirt and showed me a palm-sized fatty lump of tissue on the upper right side of his back. He told me he discovered it a couple of months ago ( March ). Long story short, I have since that time been unable to convince him to have a biopsy. He tells me he is taking herbs and vitamins for it ! My sister and I have pleaded with him to get it checked out by a specialist . . . as of this date no luck. My ex-wife ( their JW Mother ) of 30 years loves herbs and vitamins to treat sickness. Herbs and vitamins have their place in healing, but not in this case ! I am shocked to discover that my smart, hard working son is not taking the most basic of precautions concerning his health.
Good luck. Said with a good bit of sarcasm. I have a close family relative who was diagnosed with spinal and brain tumors, and instead of working with the medical profession to find a cure, this person has chosen a similar path.
This is not conventional behavior for JW's, maybe a rare fring might stay away for the medical world but the teachings are not set up in that form. ; Only the blood issue is completly frowned upon, other appraoches and medicine is labeled OK.
I disagree completely. The paranoia of the medical profession that has been deeply ingrained in the JW mindset does manifest itself in resistance to treatment for many issues. Mental as well as physical.

my youngest is toying with the idea of adopting the vegan lifestyle.
she came to me at 11pm last evening with a strict list of what she wanted me to purchase for her as soon as the store opened this morning.
her enthusiasm could easily have been mistaken for "preaching".... and i'm afraid it didn't foster a very receptive spirit in me.. my main concern is her having adequate nutrition.
I recommend UTNE magazine as a good resource for anyone considering this lifestyle, and a lifestyle of 'minimal impact.'
you might consider subscribing in her name as a way to show your support....
What's a good way to go about accommodating a teen who wants to go vegetarian/vegan when the rest of the family wants to remain omnivorous?This lifestyle choice is about personal responsibility, so give her a food budget --$50/week and let her do the rest.

My 16 year old said give him two weeks to realize what's happened, and then if he doesn't write a tell-all book to make money for retirement, he gets what he deserves. A gal after my own heart, LOL.

If good health coverage is your goal right off, look to work for a municipality or a civil service job. The wages are not as important as the benefits at this point. After all you're used to being poor. LOL. Just kidding. My 16 year old daughter is sitting here laughing at ME for laughing at YOU. But it's good natured.
Anyhow. Get a job with benefits first, wages second. You can always 'trade-up' for a higher wage job.

there has been absolutely no evidence that this unfortunate man has turned away from the watchtower. Every evidence is that he remains a loyal JW. So he has received his measure in full. Who am I to question the spiritual joys of poverty and an uncertain future? He isn't asking for any help from the apostate community. Let his brothers help him. I'll worry about him when I hear he has repented; so far he has not.
Amen. Until then, he is just another sad, demoralized Jehovah's Witness. He wouldn't listen to me if I called him right now to tell him about the Org.
It will take him time to wake up. Hopefully that's sooner rather than later. Then he can get on with relying on charity from REAL organizations and churches.
Frankly I wish the "Society" would dump ALL of the older ones. I couldn't think of a better catalyst for change than each congregation having to absorb the living expenses for a retired sales man!
