  just an fyi for anyone interested - there is a major drive on to push the bill forward for national healthcare in the usa.

  you can sign the petition by going to http://www.onecarenow.org/.. it has gone through one part of the process last year and now the push is on to get it moved to the next level - it is backed by over 400 groups including the uaw i believe.

  it is no longer if it happens, it is only a matter of time as to when it happens.

  Well, lets see...if you happen to live near one -

  o gimmee a freaking break. You know how many people live many miles from medical care?

  The sound bites you take from websites don't prove your point. Yes, you are expected to pay for medical care when services are rendered unless you have made other arrangements. Why is that a surprise? Do you just walk into your neighborhood grocery store and take what you need?

  You might also educate yourself as to union tactics, and why the union uses politicians like good old Teddy Kennedy to filibuster bills like ASSOCIATION HEALTH PLANS. You seem to believe the Unions operate at the same moral level as Jesus. Good one.

  If we put in NHS I better not hear any of you bitching about how you NOW don't have the money to do other stuff....and why can't we get a program of National Food Service, after all, isn't everyone entitled to eat?

  No, since you have to ask so rudely, I don't like having my insides scraped AT ALL, any more than you like having a Q-tip shoved in your penis for a good swabbing, or getting a finger shoved up your bum to diagnose prostate problems.

  You are not the authority on Pap smear and GYN visits here in the states that you would have people believe. One simple google of //Calfornia free pap smears// and instantly I get:

  who by the way also provides free primary care to children.

  You might not like our system, and that's your right. Unfortunately we are burdened with immigrants many of whom are not legal that want to come here and be ENTITLED to that which the rest of us have worked so hard to achieve, financial security. Insurance is a tool of financial security, not a namby-pamby feel good program.

  Here's a newsflash--you only need insurance to protect your assets. If you don't have assets, you're considered POOR. Guess what the POOR qualify for? You guessed it. Free medical care. If you have assets, and you need health care, guess what? Sell your assets. That's what assets are used for.

  But no, we have people who want to have their cake and eat it too.

  I do feel that NHS would work **IF** we also mandate that every healthy able bodied man and woman work full time. Which, co-ink-adink-ally, what my husband and I have to do. Go figure. That is the only way I see NHS not being just another entitlement program.

  PLEASE tell me again WHO it is that can't afford services? I've used PP when I didn't have health insurance for a time during 1997-1998 when I was moving and between jobs. All of my services including birth controll cost less than $100.

  just wanted to let you know i met apostates # 2 & 3 in la last week for lunch.. (#1 was zanex here in fresno four years ago).

  i haven't met a whole lot of us, as you can see.

  unfortunately, yes. When I'm on the road for work it's pretty much non-stop. Until around 10 when we head to the Spectrum or some other location close by that has wonderful beverages.

  I also (like all women aged 25-65) have a regular cervical smear test every three years to check for abnormal pre-cancerous cells

  OK is it just me or......this test is recommended every YEAR....is this the type of testing schedule you get under nationalised healthcare?

  Little Toe, the two arguments are a separate issue. How an insurance company operates is one issue. How nationalised healthcare works is another issue entirely.

  Of course I find it interesting that under your "wonderful" system people AUGMENT national healthcare with private insurance. That would be the poor, I assume, who are paying to augment that wonderful system? Of course not, it's the wealthy. No different here. Your citizens get a Yugo. Those that can afford it buy a Cadillac. How is that different from what we have here?

  A safety net for the poor, and insurance for the middle income and wealthy.

  Lord here we go again. People who know nothing about how an insurance company operates pontificating.

  Lol @ fangorn. Too true.

  Several major insurance companies moved out of state because of the insane regulations here.

  Insurance is ridiculously expensive for the average person. We have a big deductible, major medical only, policy, and it is over $500 a month for the two of us. If you are self employed, it's almost impossible to find anything, let alone affordable. We are hoping to stay healthy until we can qualify for Medicare, Medicaid.

  My parents both have those (Dad passed away in January) and I think they (Medicare and Medicaid) are a wonderful thing. They never have to pay for anything, and the benefits they get are wonderful. It's all covered for them.

  OK Mulan this is just too freaking hilarious. Do you have any idea who proposed and passed the insane regulations in the state of Washington? It wasn't the Insurance Companies! LOL! It was the PEOPLE of the great state of Washington..... LOL.....yes I hold a Washington license as well.....

  You have have a law which says that any provider who is practicing within the scope of their license must be paid as though a Doctor. OK, so follow me here. You are into natural medicine. You have an Iridiologist who must be paid by the insurance companies as though he/she were a Doctor! The same with a reflexologist, etc etc etc.

  No wonder insurance companies are fleeing the state!!! They can't evaluate risk like that! Therefore they can't make a profit!!!!! Therefore, why should they invest?

  And I don't know why I burst out laughing at "They never have to pay for anything" OK that is a huge freaking warning sign!!!! So who is paying?

  Did anyone see Lisa Kudrow on Jay Leno Weds night? She was talking about vacationing in France when she punctured her ear drum on a Friday eve. and due to the great nationalised healthcare they have there, she couldn't be seen before Monday morning. So she went on Monday after a very painful weekend, and the DR just didn't show up!!!!! WTF?!?!?!? No phone numners to call, no info, nothing.

  Could have stayed longer in the Puzzle store, though

  Denise, my little guy has played the pirate popper game about 100 times. I love to play games with him, I think it really stimulates the brain.

  It was so funny to hear you say I'm much taller in real life! I never think about that anymore, almost. It's only when I meet another REALLY TALL woman (like 6 feet) I look at her and think DAMN!!! she's tall. Then I realize we're shoulder to shoulder.

  ManDivided, I'm in town about once a month, sometimes my schedule allows me play time.

  You all should really beg Aude to tell the story of the 10-key calculator. It made me laugh all night. And I wish you could hear Confession's voice. Very masculine!

  The Funeral

  as you all know my brother was buried yesterday.

  he was 33......... he did this ..........17 years after his father commited suicide.

  the funeral took place at the funeral home.......a witness elder did the funeral.....my brother is not a witness, but my mother is.

  lets say a brother or sister loses their job, falls on welfare, doesn't have enough to eat.

  what do the elders do?

  a) tell them that the organization is not a place to beg but to preach, to give and not to receive.
