New article on methods of False Reasoning in the Watchtower

i have just posted a new article on methods of false reasoning in the watchtower at http://www.jwfacts.com/index_files/rhetorical-fallacy.htm.

this discusses rhetorical fallacy, methods such as red herrings, straw man arguments, generalisations etc.. i would welcome any comments or proof reading.

i would particularly like to know of any additional examples that i may have missed.. .

[/tangent] The last ASSembly I attended was in Bakersfield California bout ten years ago, I promised my parents I would go. As I sat in that seat, my @$$ literally begin to twitch, like I had some form of epilepsy. The 'brother' giving the talk said that in the New System, we would be the ones with the BIG RV's, yeah and who's laughing now, worldly people???? I left at noon and never went back. My daughter was with me, just a little one at that time, I said, daughter, this here is unadulterated bullshit. We out! Then we left and went to SouPlantation on California ave and went next door to See's Candies. That was the end of it. [tangent]

I'm very thankful on behalf of XJWs worldwide that people such as yourself care enough to devote the time to debunking their garbage.

When I spend more than 45 seconds even looking at their minutia, my eyes can't even focus. (I'm serious here.)

I have great difficulty even holding on to their circular thought processes so I can dispute them.

So thank you for lurkers who may not even be signed up with JWD, I reviewed the site (well for at least 45 seconds LOL) and I thought it was great.

The Reasoning Book is Inspired

that is what 2 jw ladies who came to my door recently told me..

to start at the beginning, periodically, these ladies have called and spoken to mrs thirdson but always on a week day.

mrs thirdson is always very polite and has accepted the mags saying that i might be interested in reading them but making it clear that we are christians and not interested in joining their religion.

I was going to agree with you.

I had some last week and I kinda did them the same way. The 27 year old (I asked) says, "Well we'd better get going." I said, "NO, it's rude to call and tell people you want to TALK to them when the truth is you want to talk AT them. I have some perspectives about what you are saying, too."

She and the 17 year old stayed for almost an hour.

Council on new BS arrangement - get your barf bucket ready

yesterday (sunday) at the end of the public talk, the speaker took a moment to share with us something he said that he gleaned during the 2008 annual meeting.

(hopefully someone hasn't brought this up already).. it was concerning the new bookstudy arrangements.

i will do my best to quote from memory what he said:.

LOL, exactly.

There's dissent inthe elder ranks. No one wants to be responsible for that sh!t. There's no glory in being the BS conductor.

By the way, since I'm a stickler for detail, I want to point out that it IS a book study. If it was a Bible study they would only need to bring their bibles.

Do JW's EVER admit to being wrong about any topic?

witnesses are trained to believe they are right when speaking about the bible and their beliefs, even when reminded that their beliefs have been "adjusted" for "new light".. .

do jw's you know admit to being wrong on any point, whether or not bible related, or are the "always right" even when shown to be wrong?

Funny Email I Received: Dear Red States

dear red states.... .

we've decided we're leaving.

we intend to form our own country, and we're taking the other blue states with us.. in case you aren't aware, that includes hawaii, oregon,washington, minnesota, wisconsin, michigan, illinois and all the northeast.

Even California is pretty much a Red State: Bush won 35 out of 58 counties, while Kerry won LA and San Francisco. You want 'em? we certainly won’t fight you for them but you're going to have to found New California without 35 of your most beautiful counties and your second-largest city. Sorry about that.

BUSH LIED.

If you held that same vote today, he would be in the negative column.

Oh and while you're at it, Red States, I hope you plan on sending your suburban mall-loving kids to the fields to work your productive agricultural land you're so fond of claiming.

WT Controlling Statements About Missing Meetings,Worldly Parent's, Etc.

most of us know having been out of the witnesses that one of the dastardly techniques they use in controlling members is to keep them so busy engaged in other activities that there is absolutely no time to pursue normal family interests or hobbies.

one of the lurking witness friends on the board sent me some quotes from a recent book study.

look at these quotes and see how controlling the watchtower society is becoming.

This is because there is really nothing to inspire people within the organization or anything to evoke natural intrinsic motivation based upon love and devotion.

Nov. WT: Paradise of Pleasure

i was reading through the nov. wt that ynot posted.

there was an article that referred to the garden of eden as the "paradise of pleasure".

that wording did not set right with me.

I had a conversation once with Brother Knorr, I was about 20 or so....at Bethel after 'morning breakfast' -- he told me he couldn't wait for the new system so we could go camping together and no one would think anything bad of it!

I was like, ummmmmm, OK.
