Did you ever get a green handshake?

as a former missionary, i would eagerly and greedily look forward to going home and seeing local brothers and sisters.... i would try to give as many public talks and service meeting experiences as possible.... at either of these venues, i could generally take home anywhere from $100 to $300 from all the $20 or more green handshakes.... get-togethers were also an excellent tax-free money making venue (see all your old friends, and get cards from them)... and would generally net from $500-$1000 for a get-together (after an absence of at least a year or more).... so a trip to the us could easily bring in $2k..... tax free.... plus all the perks while visiting the us... the friends that treat you to nice restaurants, lend you their car, etc..... anyone else want to share their green handshakes stories????

Shawn you clearly never gave my folks the tour. It was nothing for them to slip the Tour conductor a few hundred. Circuit Overseers and District Overseers were only too happy to stay at my parents place.

My mother would give the CO's wife her charge card. (In the days before they asked for ID for a 69 cents debit transaction LOL) so spring and summer you could bet who was wearing the latest styles.

Looking back I feel badly for all the schmucks in the printing room that never got the tour guide gig. In hindsight it was like watching a slavery plantation in action. "And over here on your left you will see four young men working like slaves for minimum wage."

I can think of more than a few people who would help the human family by committing suicide. People that put the almighty dollar ahead of human life, people that rape, kill, abuse. I missed your story, but I'm very sure you're not a Chikatilo or Jack the Ripper, and so, NO I don't believe the human family would benefit from you killing yourself. I'm pretty sure you're an XJW that had the 'spiritual carpet' ripped out from under them, and maybe is struggling with family issues related to that.

I'm feeling sad that you're overwhelmed right now. I'm glad that you reached out. No one ever jokes about suicide, so I'll take you at your word that you are contemplating this. There are people and agencies to help you. Please use them.

most won't take you on, because then there's an implied relationship that they continue to be on the hook for, malpractice insurance wise.. you can go to a clinic, it will cost you the whole day and maybe $250.

What really strikes me most about the JWs is the degree to which they declare themselves righteous, when reality is they do 95% of the same things every other human does on earth. The other 5% is scriptural masturbation. It makes them feel good but it's a waste of time.

Yes I am alive and well

to all my very dear friends, yes i am here and well, i have been getting new medical help for my severe headaches and must admitt i am getting some positive relief.

the treatment isn't so pleasant however just for the relief of some terrible headaches for a couple of days i am willing to go through the treatment.. also i am now officailly off of my opiate drugs.
