at the recent circuit assembly..... on saturday afternoon, there was a symposium on behavior modification "conquering the evil with the good".. along with the usual idiotic groundless assertions about the "dangers" of university education, new technology, internet porn, etc., there was this new and rather startling revelation of a subtle satanic snare that all should watch out for..... game shows!.

yes, directly in the society's outline, there was a specific and clear-cut point on the "dangers" of watching game shows on tv!

watching them could (paraphrase) "get you to thinking about how much money or prizes the contestant was winning, and then you're thinking 'boy, i'd sure like to have that new car / boat / dinette set', and that leads to materialism.".

My smart son and his response to his grandma! re: no more book study

my son, who is 17, saw my mother while out in service on saturday and was shocked at the way she acted.

he said she smiled and jumped out of the car, gave him a big hug and looked at the others in the car and said how much she loved him.

needless to say, he was not fooled by her complete fake attitude and the show she put on for everyone.

Roasted Turkey

Ham

Mashed potatos

Sweet potatoes(baked and then topped with butter, cinnamon, nutmeg, chopped pecans and marshmallows. Yummy

Macaroni and cheese

Cooked carrots

World famous mouth watering Collard Greens (no you can't have the recipe)

Stuffing

Cornbread

sauteed spinach

Cajun rolls (if I have the time and inclination)

Yes all from scratch yes I do the cooking myself.

I love it. I usually cook almost everything the day before (because left-overs taste better!) and warm in the microwave while the turkey's cooking.

Cranberry relish too.

We usually have a house full.

Latest United Nations-End of Religion-End of World alert

it has been awhile since i've posted anything, but i got this e-mail from someone who is on the edge of falling out of the borg due to mental stress.

i've attempted to verify the information, even called the united nations, but haven't gotten to a person who can say if this meeting happened.

my gut says this is a contrived experience with many details just not adding up...but you never know.

You don't have to do any fact checking at all to debunk this story.

The second line of the 'experience' should have set your bells a'ringing.

We had an interesting experience at our recent assembly. Though he has never been to college, this brother who grew up in the truth is so talented that he was able to obtain a high paying job.

Did you ever feel as if you were socially handicapped as a Witness?

some of my friends claim that growing up as witnesses was a normal experience, in the sense that they did not miss celebrating hollidays or associating with wordly people.

these friends are witnesses in good standing, therefore, i doubt their sincerity and feel that they just do not want to go agaist the party line.

in my case, since i always had the desire to participate in extracurricular activities in school (and did when i could), always felt actracted to politics and art, it was very hard.

The two JWs that came to my door, I startled them by opening the door quickly (was standing right there), and they were laughing at my Halloween decorations snidely.

I said, "Are you RUDELY laughing at my decorations because you believe there's demons hidden in them? "

Rules I had for escaping the JW ism....

1. bonding with a really great worldly non-JWr who was happy to show me the social ropes

2. WATCH everything in social settings and respond in a similar way.

3. Celebrate everything. GO OVERBOARD. Everyone will think you're a really happy person because you go to all that trouble to decorate your house. When they ask, tell them truthfully, "I was raised a JW, and I was NEVER allowed to do anything like this, so I'm making up for lost time!" with a big old laugh. They'll love it. Trust me.

4. If you have a kid in school, volunteer to help the Room Mom. She'll know what to do, just ask her what you can do to help.

Before long you'll be celebrating like a pro.

[/tangent] The last ASSembly I attended was in Bakersfield California bout ten years ago, I promised my parents I would go. As I sat in that seat, my @$$ literally begin to twitch, like I had some form of epilepsy. The 'brother' giving the talk said that in the New System, we would be the ones with the BIG RV's, yeah and who's laughing now, worldly people???? I left at noon and never went back. My daughter was with me, just a little one at that time, I said, daughter, this here is unadulterated bullshit. We out! Then we left and went to SouPlantation on California ave and went next door to See's Candies. That was the end of it. [tangent]
