Let me help you.

1. There is a woman greatly in need of, and deserving of help.

2. Worldly people saw it, were moved by it, and responded to the call.

3. Said woman belongs to a religion that calls itself the ONLY TRUE RELIGION, yet even in the smallest of situations, that religion is not moved to follow the example of Jesus.

1942 Consolation series "Japan Inspired of the Devil"

recently i obtained some issues of consolation for the year 1942 (predecessor for todays awake!

) through an online auction.

one of the first articles to catch my attention was a 4 part series of articles on japan, written just after the pearl harbor attack in december 1941. they begin with the february 18, 1942 issue.

Thank you for posting this. I live less than two miles from the original Japanese internment camp that was to become the shame of America.

It is interesting to note that the Constipation Consolation in fact, was not in any way spiritually ahead of the curve, but rather was echoing the popular sentiment of the day.

Ah Simon, that's the crux of the issue isn't it? Has even one person on this thread complained that this woman's life was going to be helped?

LDH is not saying that individual members of the Handicapped Woman in Fresno's congregation haven't helped her. We don't know if they have or haven't. She's bemoaning the fact that a worldwide, multi-billion dollar "religion" refuses to have an institutional response to the plight of the needy, even though Jesus said that helping the poor was a primary mission of the Church.

It is unchristian to ignore the needs of the poor. Telling them "the new system is just around the corner" is not taking care of them.

To St. Ann, and Gozz, and to others who actually have a kernel of brainpower to understand that this thread isn't about a woman, but rather about the organization, I tip my hat to you.

Ah, yes, much more important things to talk about eh? Such as, the JW issues YOU think are important, eh?

Anyone that knows me knows that for YEARS I have espoused charitable donations both to people that you know personally in need, and also through organized charities.

The fact remains that Jesus fed, on more than one occasion, people that he KNEW were not interested in his mission. The JWs may help individual people within the congregation, IF they are in good standing. They will also counsel the same to use the 'governmental' authorities and they will usually help that person only ONCE, in a blue moon.

Any ex-elders here who can dispute that, and who can provide, even anecdotal proof that there is a more organized system of taking care of widows and orphans?

And it's not up to US to decide what might appeal to or offend those unnamed readers, as long as we're speaking the truth. I don't personally believe that talking about child molestation on every other page is necessary, but I don't open my mouth about it, do I? For all I know, there is someone who may recognize that as the kernel of light that moves them to leave the JW religion.

What YOU are reading into this is that I said anything negative about this woman! You really like to read into things, assuming what other people MIGHT be thinking. I don't care about her appearance, and I'm just as happy for her as for any other deserving family --and they are deserving!!!!!!

As for the reading or knowledge you have on Catholic Charities, you don't have much! Yes, individual people donate to them. The difference, which you fail to see, is an ORGANIZED system of giving so that anyone that meets the qualifications of need can apply--not just catholics in good standing!!!!! What the local congregation does or doesn't do is directly related to how 'strong' or how 'week' you are in the 'truth!' Our local congregation frequently helped JWs in need, as long as they were considered a good example in the congreagation. Therefore, "need" is very subjective and based on a case-by-case basis.

Sure, they'll help you fly for bloodless surgery since it meets their selfish needs, but will they help you pay rent? Hell no.

You can't compare one to the other.

Well I'm going to turn the tables here.

The molester in our congregation was a woman. Who babysat, and who had a fascination for deflowering little girls with objects that caused all sorts of tears, etc.

I remember her first name was Linda, and I do remember her son's name, but he was about 9 when this happened, so I'm not interested in outing him.

She mysteriously moved away less than a month after this was found out.
