So, Whats the real reason JWs are no concessions open at the DC and are discouraged from supporting nearby vendors?
by BU2B inso ever since they discontinues the food service at the assemblies and dcs, jws have been "lovingly encouraged" to pack a light lunch to eat.
the secretary at the hall that i am held hostage in said during the service meeting that even a sub would be too heavy to eat, and that a light salad was the best option.
what do you fine people think is the real reason why, in the absence of food service, jws are told to not leave the building at lunch?

Reminds me of a talk I gave one time on perspective. One of the first things we do when we hang a picture is stand back to see if its level, how it looks against everything else. Wish I took my own advice about 50 yrs. ago. Hope that Texas weather is being kind to you Terry.

I'm waiting for the one true religion. It's not here. They're not it. In the interim; Live Well... Enjoy Life.

Have the leaders of JWs ever said 'sorry'?
by JWB inwell have they?
given that 'we are all imperfect and fall down many times' one would expect them to have made at least some mistakes since rutherford founded the jw religion.
as christians are supposed to be humble, including those who 'would be great among you', should we not have seen evidence of this over such a long time period?.

You will never get a heartfelt apology from the GB. They are well aware that their claim of being "Jehovah's channel" would evaporate should they have to admit they're only human after all. Once the rank & file realizes they've been following flawed opinions instead of the voice of Jah, the party would be over. Same goes for their preemptive move of claiming the be "the faithful & disreet slave." They know full well with the ranks of the anointed swelling, it would only be a matter of time before someone demanded a voice in doctrinal matters. In the end, it's all just business.

Skydiving/Parachuting. A disfellowship offense?
by stealthmode-brazil ini'm an active witness from brazil (who would leave if it weren't for my family/friends inside) and always dreamed about practicing skydiving.
but as radical sports are a no-no for witnesses... i wonder if any elder or ex-elder on this forum knows if an active jw, practices skydiving/parachuting once and/or regularly, can he or she be disfellowship on that basis?
i'm considering secretly jumping but afraid if someone finds out.

In the 80's, I was an elder & pilot. A group of us from worked jumped. I was the only witness. Few in the cong. knew but nothing came of it. I told those who asked about it that it was part of pilot training.

A personal message to you lurking Jehovah's Witnesses out there
by Terry inwhile you were sitting in that uncomfortable folding chair the other night.... listening to something you've heard already a thousand times before.... do you know what was happening at the same time?.
somebody somewhere else was studying a real textbook.
somebody was cramming for a college exam.

Actually Terry; witnesses owe a lot to "apostates". Consider that their rock solid prophesy of 1914 was not through some "divine channel" as any red blooded witness would expect. Rather Russell received this "truth" though Nelson Barbour, who parted ways shortly thereafter. This makes him the first "apostate". So this must be how Jah gives his people "truth"; through apostates. Keep em coming Terry; they're all ears.

Did reading Jwfacts help you? Please take a moment to say thanks..
by The Quiet One init seems as though so many of the stories of people who are now mentally free that i read on here involved reading jwfacts.com at some point along the way.. he basically saved my sanity (questionable, i know!
), and was never as sensational and garish as other sites which immediately scared me away.
why not take a minute out of your day to say thanks for any difference that jwfacts made to your life, and tell us what it was that helped you?...

100 Years of Disappointment on the Horizon
by mrquik ineven as an elder, i had doubts as to this being "the one true religion".
i personally had chosen 2014 as one of those "make or break" dates.
fortunately, i left years ago.

BOL; Yeah, that will be the next twist & noo lite. Quite frankly, it's the younger generation I see leaving en masse. Older ones have been institutionalized. They have nowhere to go. They will all die off. Sorry, no Armageddon reprieve for you. Oh yes, I almost forgot; "We aren't serving with a date in mind." Good. Quit wasting your time in field service then. Don't leave the WBTS in your will. Send your kids to college. Plan for your retirement. Most of all: Live Well....Enjoy Life. (Your life gets shorter every day.)

Even as an elder, I had doubts as to this being "the one true religion". I personally had chosen 2014 as one of those "make or break" dates. Fortunately, I left years ago. But I wonder how many still in have drawn a line in the sand realizing a century of warning people of impending doom is counterproductive and a terrible waste of time. To those lurking & still in, 2014 is a realistic date to expect "the end". After all, in Jesus original prophesy, a generation to him was 37 years. So, you've wasted enough of your lives. The countdown begins. Start planning your exit. Let's see if we can get a few million out. As always; Live Well....Enjoy Life.
