I had my ass kicked by an "unarmed" man. I carry a weapon. As this person was 30 lbs heavier & 25 yrs younger tried to break my neck, I had just enough strength to get on my knees to pull out my Smith & Wesson. I was fully prepared to empty the clip in his chest. At that moment he stopped & walked off talking to himself. This would have gone down as "shooting an unarmed man'. Anyone who assaults a police officer, who tries to take his weapon, who reaches into a pocket when told to show their hands should expect to be shot. Don't bother telling me different until you've been there.

by purrpurr inhaving watched many jc youtube videos one question that gets asked is "where else would you go?".
in other words if not jehovah's witnesses then what other religion or organisation would you go to?.
it's one that i have trouble answering, what would you say?.

The answer for JW's is not "where to go" but "when to go". Shooting down 1914 as the beginning or ending of anything is quite easy. That means the "last generation" hasn't started. Which means they're still in the Gentile Times. Which means the one true religion isn't here. Which means Christ is not King of anything. Which means all religions (including theirs) are false religions. Which means they will all grow old & die. Which means: Don't waste a minute of your life slaving after a religion. (Good news; according to JW religion, all who die during the Gentile Times come back. So don't sweat death. And as I always say; Live Well...Enjoy Life!!!)

Those of us older ones will remember when asking questions was encouraged. Remember the book " Make Sure of All Things" & the song "Make the Truth Your Own"? Remember all the research books? Not so much anymore. Go ahead, ask a question. See where that gets you. Yet, how do you prove anything is true without asking questions? Did not Jesus respond to questions asked by Satan? I guess the current rank & file aren't quite as articulate.......

My first ministry school conductor, John Caister, also added I wouldn't finish high school before " the end". John & his wife Marceil went into the circuit work. They never, of course, had children. When Marceil died, John was beyond consolation. It was heartbreaking to watch. Now, they're all gone. Mom, John & old friends in the congregation. Yet, the GB continues to spread this terrible lie & gullible people fall for it. I did. It shaped my entire life. The stress I endured all through high school. The scholarship I turned down. The pension I never had. The woman I married. Sacrifices made because I would never grow old. Today, I am old. Today I am 65.

Lurking JWs, if you're to love Jesus more than family, does it make sense to withhold family to coerce persons to return to Jesus?

(matthew 10:37) therefore, ex-jws worthy of reinstatement should be returning because they love jesus more than family - not because of wanting to restore family association.
if they truly love jesus more than family they would still return despite their family continuing to communicate with them, because they will value their relationship with jesus as a prize to be attained above and beyond their relationship with their family.

That's always a question a ask JWs I meet. As a "footstep follower of Jesus, would you not side with him instead of the opinions of men?" The answer is always "Of course." That is until you call them on the actual words of Jesus as opposed to the opinions of the GB. Then its "Well they're inspired by Jesus" Really? Take for the example of how Jesus instructed his followers to view "those who left who were not of our sort". Jesus said to treat them as "men of the world." How did Jesus treat "men of the world"? He both talked with and ate with them. So I always tell JWs I have good news; you can now talk to me, let me take you to lunch......

As a true believer, you know that Jehovah is a god of reason so let's go with that common ground & reach a logical conclusion using your doctrine:
1914. Not one shred of historical evidence leading to this date as the beginning of the end. Russell plagiarized this date. Of all the signs Jesus gave as evidence of the last days " earthquakes in one place after another" has not materialized. Nor have any of the other signs. Jesus gave that prophesy in 33 CE. It was initially fulfilled in 70 CE. One generation. A period of time for those who heard the warning being able to benefit. Overlapping generations? I won't even dignify a response.
If 1914 is not the beginning; you're still living in the "Gentile Times". Which means, the one true religion isn't here. All who die now get a free pass to a resurrection. This also means the " one true religion isn't here. Which means you're not it. Which means you're actually a part of FALSE religion & Babylon the Great. This also means you, your children, your grandchildren will grow old & die.
The question of "Where would we go?" is flawed. The real question is "When". Which means you could have lived your life anyway you wanted. The sacrifices you have made to a false manmade religion are of no merit to God. Start the Great Awakening. To the adults still in, get out !!!!. Get your children out. Get your friends out. Go out & live life !!!
