While it may be true that there are some in attendance who are happy you'll probably also find that there are quite a few people who are counting the time to get out of there. I can't even remember all the times that I've been at assemblies and have noticed myriads of elders and ministerial servants talking about sports, jobs and anything else they can think of to kill time until the meeting ends.

How have u dealt with friends, family after leavin

whats worse is that most of my friends and my family still don't know about that incident, so i know when i make the decision to move on that once everyone else knows it will be probably unbearable.

I made a effort to break free a few months back and it was extremely difficult. My wife brokedown crying at the meetings, which triggered the elders and her family (my inlaws) to begin a campaign to win me back. Whats worse is that most of my friends and my family still don't know about that incident, so I know when I make the decision to move on that once everyone else knows it will be probably unbearable.
So I'm wondering how did some of you make that transition? In most cases if you're born into a family of witnesses everyone you are close to will eventually alienate you when you leave the organization.

Harvey West? Harvey East? Harvey Central? What?I live in Markham, and attended Canterbury Congregation on 159th Street for the first 18 years of my life.
If you have been in the JW organization long, you probably know my grandfather... Br Claude Gause. He was chummy with some of the elders in Harvey.. Webster Barnes, William Bell Sr.. etc.

Haha you are'nt a spy are you? I attend the Robbins congregation. I know Webster Barnes and possibly William Bell. I'm still learning names and faces, most of my time in the org. was spent in the city.

I live in Blue Island but I attend one of the Harvey congregations, we're right off of the 147th expressway exit. I've been with my current congregation for about 5 years. I really wish I could leave but right now the timing is'nt good.

It's a shame , but its probably true
by sleepy init's a shame , but its probably true, i bet there are more ex-witnesses (those who are dis'ed or dont go anymore)who still believe its the truth than those who don't.. what do you think?

I agree with you Sleepy, in fact I was one of those people myself. What got me into closely examining the doctorines was that I found it hard to beleive that almost an entire planet of misled people would be destroyed while the main perpetrator is given a reprieve. (imprisoned for a 1000 years and then let loose)
Another thing that annoyed me to no end is struggling to make meetings, keep up with all the required literature, maintain the national field service average and obey countless rules and regulations that have nothing to do with bible priniciples. While I'm still in the borg I'm just waiting for the right time to break free.

I've noticed in my congregation that attendance does not have the priority that it once did. Personally this does'nt bother me at all because I've always felt that it showed a severe lack of concern for the congregation members to constantly have them running back and forth every other day to the kingdom hall.
I've also noticed that it appears that more individuals are simply leaving the organization. It seemed like there was a time when members of the congregation would speak with the elders about some wrongdoing or a lack of a desire to be a witness. This would almost always end up in annoucements being made from the platform. Nowdays however it appears that people are just disappearing without any notice.
The funny thing about this is that despite all the empty seats we're constantly hearing letters from the society claiming how the org is growing. I could be wrong but something just does'nt add up here
