Need advice on buying a HDTV (DLP or LCD)
by Leander ini'm gearing up to buy my first projection tv (this will be my 2nd hdtv) and i'm having a hard time in choosing between dlp and lcd.
can anyone give me a little insight on their experiences with either technology?.
i'm looking for a set that will do at least 720p, with a screen size of 40-46 inches (preferably widescreen but not a neccessity) and at a price of 2k or less including warranty and taxes.

What are some good non satanic metal groups/albums?
by Leander ini created a post like this awhile back but i thought i would start with a fresh one for 2005. i'm still somewhat of a newb to the metal world but i'm a more familiar with the music now than i was a year or two ago.. first off i love almost everything metallica does, i even liked most of the songs from st anger.
i really dig songs with crushing riffs and hard hitting melodies, but what i'm discovering is that a lot of bands love throwing occult themes and references into their music.
i'm not quite that hardcore just yet, in fact i bought a few albums without realizing some of the content.

What's the last good fantasy or scifi book that you could'nt put down?
by Leander inso what's the last fantasy/scifi book that you read that was just so good you could'nt put it down until you were done reading it?
i need a few recommendations, i'm in the mood for a good book.. for me the last really good scifi book was orson scott card's "ender's game".
for a long time i avoided this book because i thought it was aimed at a younger audience, but after hearing so many people praise it i finally took a chance on it.

Need a little advice on calorie counting and weight loss
by Leander ini just started working out again over the last month after a layoff of about 10 years.
so my questions are how can i find out how many calories a 280 pound guy burns off just doing everyday activities?
how do i determine how many calories i need to take in to maintain the muscle i have but still burn off fat?.

What are your thoughts on the composite sign?
by Leander inlately i've been giving a lot of thought on my decision to leave the wts behind and during the course of my musing i contemplated the meaning of the composite sign.
and then it kind of struck me that perhaps this composite sign was really just a declaration of the obvious.
for example some of the elements of the composite sign are: famine, pestilence, reports of natural disasters (earthquakes, etc..).

Where's a good area in Ohio to purchase a home?
by Leander inthe missus and i are ready to pack up and get out of chicago for a few years, from the research we've done ohio seems like a nice place to consider.
we're basically looking for an inexpensive area to buy a home in, (100-200k price range) suburban areas are preferrable.
we both plan on taking off from fulltime for a couple of years, the first year we may not do anything outside of taking up a few classes.

Wanted: Cheap housing, warm weather and part time work
by Leander inwell i think i finally have had enough of chicago.
sitting in traffic today for 2 hours just trying to get to work made me realize i'm wasting my time and my life doing things i hate.
so i've decided to look for a new home where the weather is warm, jobs are plentiful and the cost of living is cheaper.

I'm discovering the joy of....... heavy metal!!
by Leander inover the last couple of years i've been trying to experience activities and interests that would have been frowned upon when i was still a dub.one of the things that i've really developed a passion for is metal and hard rock, in particular metal really strikes a chord with me (pun intended).
i'm pretty much a big fan of almost anything metallica has done, i also dig a lot of the more recent groups like tool, a perfect cricle, sevendust, etc.. but there's still a lot of old school metal groups that i want to go back and listen to.
any suggestions on any good late 70's-80's metal bands?
