"We Already Forgive Him" - What Does That Mean?
by cofty inthe children of one of yesterday's shooting have told the media that they have already forgiven the killer for what he did.. dylaan roof has not apologised for what he did.
he hates black people and probably regrets not killing even more.. what does it really mean to forgive?.
if the legal system asked the victims relatives what they want done next would they ask for dylaan to go free and unpunished?.

I think what has irritated me about this is that it isn't authentic.
Here we have adult children of a murder victim saying they already forgive the murderer of their parent less than 24 hours after the event. The murderer is still filled with hate and has expressed no regret.
There is nothing authentic about this. It is a pre-programmed reaction. They are performing for the watching world.Really, who are you to judge how these people feel? Talk about a high horse. You may not be capable of forgiveness as swiftly, but that does not make their ability to do so any less real.

Parents don't say that - but they do forgive their child and send them to their room, or put them in time out, or any number of punishments.
Forgiveness does not require that there be no restitution. Even in the Old Testament, there was a process laid out to restore what had been taken, or damaged that allowed for the individual to remain part of the community. For example, If something was stolen, it had to be repaid 7 times as much.
the individual was forgiven, and there were consequences.
You are referring to an event that happened in a modern, western world. And the consequences for this type of action have been established in law by the citizens. A jury of his peers found him guilty, and he was ordered to pay for the murders he committed with his life.
What would you prefer the outcome to be?

You are confusing forgiveness with consequences.
Forgiveness is letting go of negative feelings such as anger or revenge toward the person who has harmed you. It an action a person takes for themselves, not for the person who they forgive. It is a way to free oneself from the upset around a bad experience. It does not require the other person to do anything, not even apologize.
You can forgive someone and still enforce consequences. Parents do it all the time. And, repentance, does not forego consequences either. A person may have a real remorse for the harm they have done, and still suffer the consequences of their actions. I believe this happens to some in prison. Does not change the outcome of their situation, but it does change them internally.
The two are separate and unrelated in many cases.

wait, does this mean that she won, or they won? They've settled before. I thought her intention was to take it as far as it would go to force their hand to change policy. I must have missed something, but it seems like she has given up. Didn't the court ruling state that the WT was NOT required to protect the congregation? So how is this a "win"? -

Are Jehovah's Witnesses Christian or Cult, Do JWs Offer Solutions for Local and Global Problems of life?
by skepticSam inthe awake on "hope for the homelessness" was one of the worse illustrations how the cult has no love for anyone that can't provide donations to further this spiritual ponzi scheme!
the premise of this awake made no sense, i've read many books and took classes on social issues affecting mankind, the awake does not help fix the problem.
what did this magazine offer those who are suffering the humiliation of living out of their cars or "tent city" or under a bridge?

They have the nerve to criticise churches in Christendom that do run food banks and homeless shelters . They seem to see it as bribery .I once heard the term " rice Christians " said in a very derogatory tone about people in third world countries accepting food from Christian organisations .
It is interesting to me that in the account of Sermon on the Mount, Jesus fed the people before preaching. According to Maslow, humans cannot attend their spiritual needs before their physical ones. In my opinion, churches in providing food and sometimes shelter are following Jesus example more fully than the WT.
WT is dogmatic and short-sighted yet again. They have been so driven to be different and separate that now as they are desperate for money and members they are starting to look more and more like the 700 Club - begging for money and preaching the Rapture.
I'm popping some corn, it's gonna be a good show.๐

This whole discussion illustrates my point when I tell my mom one reason I don't go to meetings is there is no place for me:
* single, happy - not pinning over a man
* successful entrepreneur
* ambitious - not going to spend my time pioneering
* educated - some college and some self
* financially stable
all of which flies in the face of the single-sister-desperate-to-get-married-financially-struggling-regular-pioneer social slot that I would be expected to fill -
to say nothing of the fact that I travel on a regular basis for work and my work involves a social cause [GASP!]
oh, and I always offer to pay on my dates ๐

What is their position on IVF?
by voodoo lady infor example, if a married couple had fertility issues relating to the male partner's sperm, could they use a donor?.
is it frowned upon in a more general sense because people should be preaching rather than procreating?.

"In a variation that some term 'embryo adoption,' the embryos placed in a wife's womb involve neither her eggs nor her husband's sperm.
How is this any different than actual adoption of a baby unrelated to the parents? These kinds of nit picky rule making is so ridiculous.

Turning disassociation around on the org
by tim3l0rd inrecently i was researching the scripture used to justify why da'd ones were to be shunned the same as df'd ones and decided that this could easily be turned around.
they use 2 john 9-11.. 9 everyone who pushes ahead and does not remain in the teaching of the christ does not have god.+ the one who does remain in this teaching is the one who has both the father and the son.
10 if anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not receive him into your homes or say a greeting to him.

w11 7/15 p. 16 par. 6 Will You Heed Jehovah's Clear Warnings?
Thus, my choice to "stay away" is justified and scriptural by their own teaching. ๐
"How can we protect ourselves against false teachers? The Bible's counsel regarding how to deal with them is clear. (Read Romans 16:17; 2 John 9-11.) 'Avoid them,' says God's Word. Other translations render that phrase 'turn away from them,' 'keep away from them,' and 'stay away from them!' There is nothing ambiguous about that inspired counsel." -

"Keeping up with Jehovah's Chariot"
by FusionTheism inclarified understandings / new light of the past 7 years or so:.
* the faithful and discreet slave is only the governing body and only since 1919.. * the faithful slave was appointed in 1919 by jesus but it will not receive its greater authority until the judgment of the sheep and goats.. * charles taze russell was not part of the faithful and discreet slave.. * there was no slave for 1900 years before 1919.. * there may not have been any anointed during those 1900 years, but it's possible there were a few.. * 1935 was not the cut-off date for the selection of the anointed-- this selection is still ongoing.
* 1935 has no special biblical significance.. * 1918 has no special biblical significance.. * gog of magog is not satan, but is a coalition of nations, who may be ruled by the mysterious king of the north.. * there is no evil slave class.

w05 5/1 p. 22 par. 18 The Resurrection HopeโWhat Does It Mean for You?
We realize that should we die before Armageddon, a continued course of conduct displeasing to Jehovah could put us in the same position as those who have no prospect of a resurrection.
Uh, what happened to " the wages sin pays is death" and the resurrection of the "righteous and unrighteous"?
How do people not see these blatantly unscriptural comments and is anyone on the GB or writing department really doing a quality control check before this shit gets printed?
