Any suggestions for legitimate work at home jobs?
by coffee_black inmy daughter may need this.
since she has heart failure, she may not be able to go back to work, because her dr. has placed her on a 5 lb lifting restriction.
her company has held her job open for her since the end of november, but will not agree this restriction.. she has applied for disability, but since her dr would allow her to work at all (dispite strict restrictions) she has been told that they will not likely approve her.... so she is caught between a rock and a hard place.

If your sister can shop at a store and type on a computer, being a secret shopper does pay. I have done this several times and found these contractors online. Its not great pay, maybe like $10-$25 a shop. I have used sassieshop.com and a couple other companies.
ebay is another at home thing you can try, it can work if you work really really hard. sell stuff from home, buying wholesale items then marking them up some.

What convinced You?
by 1975 inyes, what convinced you to leave the jw's org?
i've known about this group since 1949, things were much different back in those days, yes they were exciting times.
why did i eventually leave this group?

What first got me having some major questions was when the Elder's came to my house warning my family of looming death. After that eye opener, advice and reading from this website has helped extremely well. But I'd say when I personally sat down and decided to look over the Proclaimers Book, and some of the first things that popped out to me, that is what really convinced me it was nothing but a sham!

An Intro and apology.
by Slidin Fast ini have been an avid reader on this site for a few years and have weighed in on a few topics and introduced a few more without introducing myself.
for this i apologise.
the main reason for my reticence is that being a second generation born in but having been baptised in the 50s i will find it difficult to make an introduction without giving the game away.

what toys did you all ways want but couldnt have because you were a jw!
by warmasasunned ini was lucky not to be born into the jw's, so i had pretty much every toy i wanted .... actionman (g.i joe) with all the guns, tanks wonderful 2nd world war uniforms, toy soldiers cavalry, indians, cowboys, knights, castles and forts.. six million dollar man, lone ranger and tonto, toy cars matchbox captin scarlett, thunder birds, loads of guns to run around playing war.. great days.
(of course my sisters had dolls and prams, barbies cindys, play make up).
i know having spoken to jws born into it certain toys were of limits for some kids.. a good friend told me how he loved action man and played with them constantly, until one day he came home and saw them all by the door in a. card board box.. when he asked his mum what she was doing.. she told him "do you really think jehovah wants you to play war, you can keep one of them but he cant have any guns and fight people".

I once got a troll doll at a fast food drive in, me and my sister had to throw them away. I really loved playing with fireworks but for several years I was banned from having them because they were related to the July 4th.

There was a schizophrenic in my cong. when I first started to attend. On occasion he would come to the meeting with Vaseline all over his face and hair; I heard onetime he put coins on his face and came to the meeting. He was a nice fellow with me, most of the time he was normal, nobody talked to him and I was one of the only few. Anyway he started to call this one "sister" who was married repeatedly for a couple days, next meeting they gave a “marking talk” about him and he never returned for several years.

You Can Overcome WT Phobias!
by leavingwt inearly in the exit process, it's very important to begin overcoming irrational fears.
fear of the devil.
fear of god.

During my exit, a couple elders came over warning me that I "will see my wife die", it "may be to late" to return to the organization and be saved; and me and my wife's marriage will dissolve if we stay out of the Jehovah Witness religion.
My Jehovah Witness grandmother also told me several times she didn't want me and my children to be killed when Armageddon shortly arrives. She was in tears at one point.
My wife's parents questioned her repeatedly if she wanted to see out kids destroyed during Armageddon.
The realization that Jehovah Witnesses use Fear as control was clearly exposed to me during this time period. They claim to be a loving people, but not one of them appealed to us with love, it was all fear and destruction and death.

did you experience an undercurrent of demon attacks/demonic fasination and regular discusions on the subject
by exjw1978 inwhilst/current your time within the organisation did you experience an all too familiar story telling of demons/demonic attack/certian people having more problems then others ect.
i remember it was certainly a topic well discussed during my time stories that ran like wildfire/special people within the congregation who could "touch" things and "know" if they were demonised, families having trouble ~ in particular one family within the congregation that was receiving the most trouble ~ i sense an undercurrent of demonology within after meeting discussions/ warned never to buy second hand goods ect.
overall i always sensed a fasination with the subject amongst us ????

I remember one Witness explained to several of us after a book study that when he broke all his "worldly" CD's, many of them exploded as if the demons were somehow inside or angry that he was destroying them.
I used to be somewhat worried of demons attacking me, but once I realized I wasn't an evil person, the fear disappeared into oblivion.

After Exiting the Witnesses - Are you O.K. Not Knowing about the Future ?
by flipper init seems that religion has always been considered the opium of the people.
or at least many tend to gravitate towards religion to have or solidify some sort of future with a supreme being overlooking them hoping to have a reward either in heaven or in the jehovah's witnesses case - living forever in a " paradise earth ".
it seems that people can't just live day to day and let each day come to them with whatever happens.

Once I started to except death as a reality and that every single human being before my time has had to experience death; a great Peace came over me. I was able to put the fear that Jehovah Witnesses instilled into me. I feel that I have more of a future now than I ever did being a Jehovah Witness. I have had a great personal spiritual awakening and feel closer to the real "Truth" of not knowing what the future beholds. I HATED living in a constant state of "the end is just around the corner", it drove me off the edge and out of that religion.
