this is my first attempt to make contact with ex jws, i would love to make contact with ex jws in cambridgeshire/northamptonshire but would luv to hear from anyone else who wishes to share their wit/humour or just chat.
i have been out of "big mother" for 18 months after spending my whole life very actively associating with jws (all of my 32 years).

I'm from Rushden, Northants, so not far from you. I've lived here about 4 years and went to Dudley assembly hall. I always used to go to Bowes Road before that.
I DAed in October along with my husband. Life is great for us and our 3 kids now!

I love reading your posts and more often than not agree with you totally. I love the way you say exactly what you think. I just wish I had the courage to do so, but I'm so scared of others having a go at me! Maybe one day, I'll have the confidence to speak my mind.

I don't know if the Exclusive Brethren are the same as the Plymouth Brethren. I know a few Plymouth Brethren. When I left the JWs one I know knocked on my door with some of their tracts trying to convert me. I had to laugh at the irony of it.
Our house used to belong to members of the Plymouth Brethren, it's semi detached so I guess the neighbours must have been too.
Where I live, the Plymouth Brethren children are always put with the JW children during christmas activities and religious assemblies at school.
They don't like TVs, computers, radios etc. The females (even little toddlers) have to wear headscarves, have long hair and never wear trousers. The children are taught at home once they reach secondary school age. The men stand in our high street on a saturday shouting out about the bible, everyone tries to avoid them!
Despite their strangeness, the ones I know are generally a very nice group of people, they really care about each other and are very close knit. The children are really lovely and well mannered. But they definitely won't convert me - sorry Jo! (not that she'll see this cos they don't like computers! lol)

Actually a lot of the dogs are not raised for slaughter, they are strays and pets that are stolen, they muzzle them with tin cans. Unfortunately I no longer have the IFAW newsletter that dealt with the issue.
I don't want to debate the issue, it was just for info that's all.

If they want to eat dogs then fine, what I find objectionable is the inhumane treatment of the dogs.
I support the IFAW and according to their website:
'Every year, more than 2.6 million dogs and cats in South Korea are killed in ways that deliberately create and prolong their suffering. They die horrible deaths at the hands of traders who sell their meat for human consumption.
Dogs in South Korea are routinely hung, strangled, slowly beaten and electrocuted in the belief that these inhumane methods of killing enhance their taste and aphrodisiacal properties. Often, while a live dog is hanging by its neck, it is beaten and its fur burned off with a blowtorch.
i personally like sue grafton and patricia cornwell, along with tim lahaye and jerry b. jenkins.... i like the first two as i really like the mysteries...and the second 2 for the ideas.... justwondering... lyd

Actually Steven was still at school, in the 6th Form. He was a friend of my sister's and I met him at a 6th Form disco. He was 16 and I was 18, that was over 17 years ago. His parents didn't think it would last!
just a small request to you all.. britian is not england.. england is a part of britian, as is wales, scotland .a lot of what you may think is english is in fact welsh or scotish.. it is like me refering to the usa as new york .. if this carries on i'll have no other choice but to call the usa canada.

Milton Keynes has changed a lot since we moved 4 years ago. My daughter is at MK Theatre tonight with her grandmother watching Joseph and his Technicolour Dreamcoat (or whatever it's called!)

Yes, as far as I know. It would be too much to ask, for Milton Keynes to have real cows!

The roundabouts in Milton Keynes all look the same, they had to name them so people know where they're at! Awful place! I'm actually from an old town which was swallowed up by Milton Keynes. I was glad to move!
