those of you on this board who were given the big d -- how did you actually feel at the moment the chairman of the jc that dfd you said those words -- angry -upset -toatl relief -- yipee?

Personally I felt embarrased. I did not know who would tell my family. I did not tell anyone that I had wrote a letter saying I no longer wanted to be a JW. Since I wrote the letter I was not there when they read it, nor did any brother contact me to see if I wanted to change my mind. You know what is so weird, to this day I can not remember what I said in the letter. It was 7 years ago.. talk about blocking it all out of your mind.

I personally think that all the JW's that are still going to meetings and are willing to post here have more courage than most of us. I know for myself I didn't even look at an apostate site until I had DA'd myself 7 years ago. Even then I was scared. My hat is off to all of you.
Thank you for not thinking that all of us that left are terrible people. Most of us have lost family and friends over this religion so I personally appreciate your honesty. Glad to have you here.

Dan I really enjoyed your post!!! I love this statement " JW'ism was my drug of choice." I can relate to this. I also was converted to the JW's when I was 18. I also enjoyed the feeling of "being special, chosen by God." I used to love it when they would quote "Jeh is moving to and fro throughout the earth finding those who's heart is complete towards him." You have expressed exactly what I felt.
Personally I am not proud of my behavior as a JW. I was the typical JW elder's wife. Judgmental etc. I am much happier now that I have learned compassion for others.

I would say for myself I am more content with my life. I now feel like an active participant in this life instead of waiting for participating in the "new world."
I have to say I miss some of my family and people that were my friends, but I am a much nicer person now than I ever was as a JW. I am thankful for that change of personality that has made me happier.

i just recieved an email from a company that i interviewed with last week and was told that i was selected as the candidate they want to hire!
they will be sending me a formal job offer monday.
i have been doing contract/consulting work for about four years and i am soooooo tired of it.

Well actually flower I live in Jamestown...not sure if you know where that is or not. I always went to the assemblies in Buffalo or Niagara Falls. Unfortunately, Buffalo sure is,as is most of Western New York,in a depressed way. It still is a beautiful area and my husband and I still go to Buffalo to shop. Glad to meet you.

Well Western New York was supposed to be right in its path into Canada. It has been raining all night long..winds now are picking up..I sure hope that we do not get the rain that they have predicted. I am glad everyone here from NC are ok. My mom and two brothers live in NC but they live in Ashville they only got the wind.
