I miss members of my family and my friends, but I realize that I am not the person that I was when I was a JW, so not sure if they would really be my friends any longer. I do miss the feeling of belonging, I think that is the worst part of walking away.

as a publisher, still buying the wt line that they were god's sole channel and any problems, doubts, etc... i had were all a product of my own lack of.
wisdom and or humility or failure of application, i would be shocked and puzzled at how long-time elders would resign and then fade away.
i would wonder: what could have happened.

i was raised in "the truth", and for the longest time it was all i knew.
i spent my childhood going through all the things that other witness children went through; not celebrating holidays, not standing up and reciting the pledge of allegiance, not going to school events, or associating with "worldly" children much.
Welcome to the board. Remember it took years to be brainwashed, it takes a long time to wash your brain free of the cults influence. Leaving is a process..I personally believe that no one that has been touched by this religion does not have somekind of scars to prove it. Keep coming back. Love your screen name.

this is very difficult to write because i am crying.
i am normally not the kind of person you will ever see cry because things don't affect me that much but this has got to be the hardest things i have ever went through.. i just got through discussing with my wife my feelings.
i guess it has been hard to hid some of the things that i have felt since i have learned that many of the wt teachings are false.
I am so sorry that you have experienced such pain. I have to agree that a loving God would not want two loving people divorced because of the JW religion. We are thinking of you.

i never knew of any jehovah`s witness to give anything to the community..ever!
!..they don`t mind taking,but they don`t give back.except in the way of manditory tax`s.....i sometimes drop a dollar or two into a donation can.i take clothes,kitchen items,electrical appliances,food or anything else i`m not using and give it to "charity"..i never let anything usefull go to waste.someone in need,gets it!.....not everyone is in a position to do this and thats ok.....for those who are in a position to help those in need:..do you give to charities or donate time?...outlaw
I have worked for The Salvation Army for over 13 years. First running a Domestic Violence Shelter for 9 years, now I am responsible for Disaster Relief Assistace for New York State. I can truthfully tell you that any money that is designated for a particular program 100% goes to that program with no administrative costs. It is the reason why I have worked for them so long. Their mission is to help at whatever level a person needs assistance without discrimination. For those that help with kettles etc. on behalf of The Salvation Army I thank you for your help.

the bbc in the uk is showing a series that documents the rise of l.a.music in the early 70s...esp crosby stills nash young taylor browne eagles etc...and one prog was about david geffens record label asylum and the troubadour cafe..and another had a song performed by judee sill who i had never heard of but who was the first artist geffen signed..and no wonder on this performance.
the song is called the kiss..and it is just so hauntingly beautiful.

i started the year out with him being in the hospital with a gi bleed and heart attack.

there were twelve actors that i liked that died this year.
most of them were about 10 years older than me.
that means, that if i'm lucky, i've got about 10 years left.
I really like how Blondie put it. Today is a gift, we have no control over the future or the past. Live and do what makes you happy, as long as it does not hurt others. JMO
