i've been fading for about 6 months now and a couple of witnesses in my old congregation have died.
a smidget of me wanted to go for the sentimental reasons.
but i knew i wouldnt be able to handle the 'lovebombing', the questioning and a restart on harassment by the elders.
I also have lost a grandmother, grandfather, uncle all JW's. I did attend my grandparents funeral which was awful, did not attend my Uncle's. I will NEVER EVER attend another one. As everyone has said it is not about the person, but about the religion. I now choose to remember people the way I remember them, not how they tell me I should remember them.

doing some yard work last month, i found a ww2 dogtag in the dirt.
i'd like to return it to the family, but haven't been able to find a way to determine where they are.
all i could find on the net was a site for the same purpose set up for vietnam vets' tags.. here's how the tag reads:.
You guys did great in finding the information...I am sure that the family will love to have these tags returned to them. Great job all involved, and thanks for caring about others. That is why you are no longer JW's you acutally care for "wordly" people.

this is an interview i just read of an ex-member of the church of scientology.
there are a ton of them over at the site i read this on, but this one in particular really struck me because of the parallels i noticed between the cos and the jw's.
pretty heart-wrenching stuff.. .
I think that Scientology is kissing cousins of JW's. Same tactics in many ways. JW's are just more insidious then Scientologist is all. JMO

maybe i'm just a bit paranoid but i think my parents may be on to me.
i hope i didn't blow my cover.... i was out with some jw kids and realised that i left all my "apostate" research and my notebook out on my desk in my room.
when i got home my mother was crying in her room.
Please let us know how your talk goes with your folks. Just remember they do really love you, they are just blinded by the cult. Sometimes at your age it is good to just play the game until you can get out. Tell them you were trying to find out information to debunk your questions. Not a lie. Once you realize the truth is really the lie you don't have to play their games. Telling them everything really is not what you have to do. You choose what you disclose nothing more. Yeah that was my first concern,....what do you mean I can't tell you my name????? That is down right bizzare. Follow the "faithful and discreet slave" but for God's sake don't let them know who you are. I love they tell him to follow the slave, and then they say the bible. Well he certainly put what is important first, and it certainly is not God's word.

i had a dream last night that was sooooooo real.
i was experiencing something that i really didn't want to have to deal with.
Sometimes I have dreams where someone has told me something, and then for the life of me I can't remember if what I was told was true, or was a part of my dream. Makes me crazy!!!

several years ago, approx 1995, i was a newbie elder - age 29 and was just doing the "yes man" duties around the hall.
there was the overbearing po who was the "king" of the congo and whatever he said was gospel... if he didn't like you - you were history... needless to say - i kissed his butt and moved up the ladder quite easily.
we had another newbie elder - in his late 40's - and he was a smart man.
Hearing stories like this sure is a flashback to my ex-husband elder days. It was one of the reasons why I left. Such power and control issues...certainly not love and compassion. Glad you saw your way out fo the cult.

the ass hall is about 10 miles from here, and here is 3000 miles from my last congregation, so i figured what the hay, i'll step into the twilight zone, see what it's like after a few years away from it all.
i was bored to a teary-eyed yawn within 10 minutes of sitting (next a nwt-guarded reserved seat, ahh, memories.)..
i caught the last few minutes of the wt study and then came "giving attention to the needs of the circuit".
Sometimes just to drop in and look around, you realize that you haven't missed a thing. It is kinda like watching soap opera's...you can not watch for a year, turn it on and before you know it it is the same old thing..just different year. "As the JW's Turn."

i keep coming back here - everytime i do - it's like witnessing a car wreck.
the things i don't want to read or believe are right here before my eyes - it's like a drug.
