straight after the commission ended today within minutes, the phone rang.
it was one of the people who are working on it.
firstly she established if i was alright and did i want to talk.. i said i was too tired and unhappy that geoffrey jackson managed to do some preaching....she said they were aware of that.
Dear umbertoecho
Thank you SO much for letting us know how the Commission is handling things, and especially that they are not fooled and that this is far from over.
It is very reassuring to know that their calm acceptance of the testibaloney today is probably just setting them up to reveal more later. Mr Stewart did this in a more short-term way with each of the other witnesses, making them feel at ease and expressing themselves before dissecting their words later. They probably see how pivotal it will be to successfully dissect GB statements and are going to save this treat for later in the process. We all know just how many incriminating lies Geoffers uttered, they know it too and could use countless quotes from publications to point it out. Maybe they intend to carefully compare his words with what is written and have him back later in the process to spiritually help him become aware that he is a fork-tongued fool.
geoffrey jackson spent 20 minutes accepting the position that it is not scripturally prohibited for women to be used in the investigation process, although probably not the jc itself (he said he'd check the scriptures on that bit, but we can guess the outcome).. look out for the wives of elders jostling for and gaining these positions.
there will be no better opportunity for gossip mongers to raise their status in the congregation than being officially involved in the intimate private business of others in the congregation.. think of the power they will have in advising the elders on a jc if she thinks the victim is credible, with her opinion, bias and embellishments on the details.
i wouldn't fancy the chances of a victim who has previously fallen out with one of these 'helpers'.. whatever next, sisters handling microphones??!
Dear konceptual99
Thank you so much for responding, I agree with everything in your response and most of your original post (except for the last sentence, although I can see now that was related specifically to the likely involvement of a particular type of woman.) Realistically, it is unlikely that any of the more genuine sisters (and I was one) would be high up enough in the food chain to merit consideration if the 'helper' thing were ever to become a formalised 'role'.
In fact your response has put all the comments in perspective for me, that probably all posters were relating how they feel things will actually be handled by a particular breed of sister, not tarring all sisters with that brush. Many thanks for clarifying.
the evidence exhibits in the royal commission comprise in parts of things like the branch manual.
in australia, would these now be matters of public record?
if so is it possible to get hold of them?
All in the exhibit list I believe:

I don't mean to put a dampener on this thread, but please try to show a little bit of respect for women! There are many ladies who are eminently capable of handling a role like this in an honest, dignified manner. (I should know, I am one of them.) I am a little bit offended by these assertions that there are no sincere, caring sisters who genuinely care for victims of abuse and could provide a better environment for victims to raise their concerns than in the elders' club. You all sound like the GB, writing off sisters as incapable because they are gossip-mongering, self-important gobshites who care only about themselves and appearances. Little bit offensive.
The first question to be asked of a victim should be along these lines: "As far as you know, are you the only person who has witnessed this person's vile behaviour?" As the answer will usually be affirmative, it should be gently explained that at the present time, the congregation does not have any means to do anything about it. The victim might then be strongly and actively encouraged to engage with the secular authorities as soon as possible so that the perp's vile behaviour can be stopped, investigated and prosecuted. The victim could be gently and carefully made aware that these predators rarely desist from their disgusting activities once they have crossed the line and touched a child inappropriately (many victims don't really realise the extent of predatory behaviour of abusers and think they are the only one affected.)
Without extensive Child Protection and counselling training, NO Jdub should be giving a forum for victims to talk about their concerns. Because the wrong questions, or leading questions, could contaminate the evidence and hinder the authorities' investigations. And as we have seen in the ARC, scriptural 'comfort' is easily misconstrued by a traumatised victim. Every child-abuse disclosure should be immediately referred to the appropriate authorities. If spiritual help is required or requested, it should be noted that it has to be put on hold until the victim has been strengthened by being believed by the authorities and receiving counselling to ease some of the trauma they have suffered.
IMHO
as more and more jw learn ttat maybe these new ones who are still in might be interested in making a bunch of jw sites where they are more loosely moderated and negative stuff about the organization is planted and removed(allowed to stay but only a few days).. make it appear safe for regular jws but allow some freedom of expression to stay on for a time.
iow run by more moderate moderators who eventually get rid of offending posts after some deliberation..
Hey BW
I was thinking exactly the same thing! I was thinking of it from the angle of swearing; many JWs might find some of the language on these sites (by those of us who have fully recovered) makes them choke on their Kool-Aid. So maybe a more JW friendly site with less anti-GB etc talk would be a halfway house for them and help them on the way? I don't have a clue how to do such a thing, but would love to join and contribute if anyone has any idea. Make it a gentle drip-feeding site for TTATT-curious individuals?
Gosh, I'm starting to sound like a mentally diseased apostate!
yes or no.......what say you?.
i'll start - no!.

I'll risk a Yes (knowing I can hit the EDIT button and rewrite history when I'm wrong)
and the outcome....we had a blast!
guess what?
no sex on the table with the other mate (swapping), no cocaine snorting or weed smoking.
I too had a blast. No keys in a bowl. Not even heavy drinking. Just Cards against Humanity.
The weirdest thing? Every time the wife of the host couple made a less than respectful comment to her hubby, it really felt awkward to me, having decades of respect for headship drummed into me. So I came to realise something...real men don't give a shit if their wives give as good as they get (or better!) It was all jolly japes! Ahhhh, the freedom.
