My thoughts exactly Cassiline. Has he and the reader been to these "apostate" sites or are they 'replying to a matter before they have heard all of it?' And if they have been there to check them out, can other jws do the same?

as we were digesting the spiritual food at the bookstudy tonight [yes i actually had to see this for myself] the topic of watchtower.org and freeminds came up from the elder in charge of the study.he flagrantly discredited freeminds with verbal sarcasm and distain and condemned watchtower.org as apostate and totally demonized the website .during this he mentioned he was not abliged to answer any of the questions that may have been raised about the society and beliefs because he felt that jesus didn't always answer the pharisees with what they would have expected like something that would incriminate himself.then the term legal department was brought to the fore.i really couldn't believe this is their reaction to inquiring minds.

my disfellowshipping
as with anyone associated with jehovahs witnesses the worst possible news anyone can have is being df.
it means a loss of everyone and everything you have known all your life.
Wonderful.
Bill, for all of us who went quietly, THANK YOU.
The wts is slowly losing their best.

press release

Minimus: Going to the media wasn't the problem. Ray Franz didn't, Peter Gregorson didn't. How did the jw's you spoke with hear about it to be able to agree or disagree? To the wts and to most jw's there is NO ACCEPTABLE WAY to point out the shortcomings, errors, detestable policies, and lies of the Organization, because in their minds the WTS = GOD. When they finally realize they have swallowed a lie, they will be the ones 'publishing' the truth about the wts.
Grunt: I couldn't add a word. Well said, indeed

we are going to have an extensive article in the new york times this sunday.
there is an early addition that comes out in most cities around on saturday.
i encourage one and all to get your copy and do not miss the important piece of history.
Termite 35 and Ronin 1: Excellent suggestions!!
Dateline will do a follow-up, right? And Bill Bowen's appeal...that's going to happen, right?
((((Cassiline)))) (((((all silent lambs))))

for those who can't wait till sunday...
ousted members contend jehovah's witnesses' abuse policy hides offenses
by laurie goodstein
Farkel, you illustrated beautifully the hollow hypocritical ring of J.R. Brown's words. The more exposure the wts gets, the less the public is going to accept their cop outs.
Salud, thanks for posting the article. It's great.

i stumbled across this site today.
i wonder who runs it.
has anyone ever heard of this site before?
The custody cases at the website are interesting.
The Discussion Logs feature many of Greg Stafford's discussions.

I didn't go back and read it again, but did any of them mention the two witnesses to EACH molestation (the policy that Bill was hoping the wts would change)?
Also, Bill Bowen has not been allowed to present his witnesses at the judicial meetings for one reason or another. I see that they referred to his witnesses showing up at one of the meetings as a 'demonstration'. When they saw all the people there to support Bill's position (peacefully gathered), the elders would not conduct the judicial hearing and left.
At the meeting where Bill took pictures of them locking the door and putting trash bags over the windows, he had already informed them that he could not meet with them that day because his witnesses could not be there on a week day. His photos are important because they show that the elders had no witnesses against him at that hearing. Where were the two witnesses who are accusing him?? Were they sitting on the committee??
On another forum a poster asked what the predominant factor is which prevents jw's (or others) from speaking out against religions which preach false doctrine. In view of how Bill Bowen is being gutted, it's a wonder anyone speaks out at all. And Bill is not questioning doctrine, he is simply asking that the policy be changed, which isn't really a change at all because they already allow two witnesses to separate infractions with smoking. The wts rapidly changed their UN policy when that became public knowledge; they should have changed this policy when first presented with it (before it ever went public) and all of this could have been avoided. Allow two victims of a pedophile to be the two witnesses against him/her.

I know one of the posters and it saddens me to see such misplaced loyalty. How they have swallowed the lie! They have practically clutched at it to keep the deception in place so that they don't turn and see the truth and lose the illusion.
Libby
just wondered how many people this this is all true.
feel free to really think about this one and provide proof and examples.
Wait just a minute....Whether YHWH appeared in the Hebrew text or the LXX Greek text, it was spoken as 'Lord' [Adonai, Kyrios], remember? The correct way to pronounce YHWH was lost because of dis-use, wasn't it? So when the text was read, the reader said 'Lord'. It seems reasonable to me that the NT writers used what was spoken, 'Lord', when they wrote and copied their manuscripts because they were comfortable with who Jesus is.
As far as the NWT, I agree with those who have said the translation committee used other English translations and changed passages according to wts theology. [It doesn't matter really because a jw has to believe what they tell him the passage means anyway.] If they did not consult other translations, and they were not qualified translators, then there is the possibility they were divinely inspired to translate Hebrew and Greek texts by God's Holy Spirit. Anybody want to go with that one?

ps libra spirit I think the name you mean is Gruber?

personally, i do not believe god ever has or ever will exist.
i have my reasons -- i guess i could be considered an agnostic, rather than an athiest.
i was curious to see what the larger part of the former borg community believed, now looking from the outside in, rather than the opposite.
Yes, Libby believes in God.
