Awake #4/2016: Homosexuality
by Designer Stubble inthe new awake is up on jw.orgwith the legalization of gay marriage in many countries, they decided it was time to show: "what does thebible say about homosexuality?
"does the bible promote prejudice?still, some people would say that the bible promotes prejudice against homosexuals and that those who adhere to itsmoral code are intolerant.
‘the bible was written at a time when people were narrow-minded,’ they claim.

They have no business condemning anyone. Not their job. -

What will be the Next Flip Flop?
by Quarterback innow that the soc has accepted the use of technology.
what is next?
could it be the disfellowshipping?
-

Anyhow, I don't think there will be a fix to the errant disfellowshipping policy; it's the only power they wield over adherents.
Don't listen to us - disfellowship
Question us - disfellowship
Doubt us - disfellowship
Contradict us - disfellowship
Call the police on us - disfellowship
Yada Yada Yada Yada ....

A Prodigal child?
Well, welcome him back and throw the child a feast. That's what Jesus' Prodigal father did in the parable. It was Jesus himself relaying that parable, yes?
Oh wait, I see, be like the angry older brother???
Lol, those scriptures have nothing to with the comments being made or how to help someone whose faith is 'weak'.
Corinthians is talking about how all are part of Christ's body but have different purposes. Galatians is talking about circumcision being unecessary for Gentiles and followers of Christ in general. Jude has nothing to do with the article at all.
All out of context and discombobulated as usual.
In reality, Biblically speaking, the Prodigal's Son had nothing to do with weak faith .... Guy just went off to spend his inheritance on drink and prostitutes.

Angst and the Jehovah's Witness Mindset
by cofty inthere is no typical jw personality type.. any of us who were in the religion for a number of years will remember all sorts of individuals.
there is as much variety among jws as there is in the general population.
some were arrogant and judgemental but others were humble and kindly.

Incessant pessimism. Existence is a negative not a plus. -

The story of Jonathan and David, is this male bonding or something else?
by James Mixon instart at 1 samuel 18;1-4..now imagine if this story had been about jonathan and a woman.. 1 samuel 20:30..saul calls jonathan a son of a perverse rebellious woman!
the blame for his.
behavior goes first to the mother, who was too soft," or too harsh who perverted his son somehow.. 1 samuel 20:41-42.."they kissed each other and wept with each other".. so was it merely deep friendship or a romantic relationship?.

Everything is not about sex. I chock that up to the corrupted minds of some Western European societies (only some). That comes from being bombarded by a religious society obsessed with sex. -

Middle Easterners would consider a son going against his father perverse, particularly a King's son and heir. Jonathan in effect is giving up his throne as crown prince. Saul wife doesn't want to be bothered with a husband out farting around with idols and their ceremonies involving temple hos; ancient STDs and such.
The kissing and whatnot is a normal male thing throughout Africa, the Mediterranean, Eastern Europe, SE Asia, and the Middle East.
Only societies with sexually repressed males find it odd. They also find nudity odd, so. Ie. Don't get around Italian men or Jewish men, they greet each other with kisses and hugs. (Not handshakes which I can understand, considering)

Here's a view on homosexuality for you...
by konceptual99 in...right from a pro-jw site in response to a post about the relative seriousness of homosexuality.
all you can do is reason from the scriptures, which you appear to have done.
homosexuality is as serious as bestiality, or adultery and fornication.

So called Christians are busy throwing rocks at the very ones Jesus said his message was for. JWS don't know what they're doing by condemning others. -

Good thing they weren't in ancient Greece, Sparta, and Rome. Boy were they something else!
Homosexuals get the same punishment as adulterers, child molesters, liars, murderers,, the greedy, etc. It's a pretty long list
Paul was a murderer, so I wouldn't worry too much about being forgiven.
1 Timothy 1:7-11 NET
They want to be teachers of the law, but they do not understand what they are saying or the things they insist on so confidently. But we know that the law is good if someone uses it legitimately, [9] realizing that law is not intended for a righteous person, but for lawless and rebellious people, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers, [10] sexually immoral people, practicing homosexuals, kidnappers, liars, perjurers-in fact, for any who live contrary to sound teaching. [11] This accords with the glorious gospel of the blessed God that was entrusted to me.
Christ didn't pop down for righteous people; his message of mercy and forgiveness wasn't for them.
1 Timothy 1:12-15 NET
I am grateful to the one who has strengthened me, Christ Jesus our Lord, because he considered me faithful in putting me into ministry, [13] even though I was formerly a blasphemer and a persecutor, and an arrogant man. But I was treated with mercy because I acted ignorantly in unbelief, [14] and our Lord's grace was abundant, bringing faith and love in Christ Jesus. [15] This saying is trustworthy and deserves full acceptance: "Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners"-and I am the worst of them!

“Even if this wasn’t the Truth, I need the structure.”
by Londo111 ini remember many years back a fellow ministerial servant saying this to me.
he felt that even if jehovah’s witnesses were not the only true religion, the regimented routine of meetings and field service and the strict rules and enforcement provided a beneficial structure for his life.
at the time i thought if this wasn’t “the truth”, i’d have no need for all that “structure”.

I'm with rebel8, guy should have joined the military if he wanted "structure".
Of course, after a certain amount of training and time the military expects you to be able to function on your own, progress in making improvised decisions, and ultimately lead others. That could be a small problem for someone refusing to think for himself.

What is the alternative to JW?
by Formerbrother ini mean this with all due respect, i would like to hear from genuine people who think jw have it wrong and then what is the truth?.
im not talking about silly little quibbles here and there.. is jehovah real?
the the bible is word?

An alternative would be actual Christianity. Or simply following the example of Christ in your daily life.
Don't let anyone ask you "where will you go"? There is no "where". The scripture reads "To WHOM would we go" (John 6:68) and of course that "whom" is Jesus.
If you want Christianity then you have to go to and through Christ, not man.
The WTBTS has lied to the majority of its adherents by telling them Jesus isn't their mediator. The GB has placed itself in that seat. Well, if you don't have Jesus as your mediator, then you don't have God. Period.
So.
