Negative Situations (This is for whomever is approved to be interviewed by reporters)

Quick JW speak translation:

Situaciones negativas

Si le preguntan sobre temas negativos o controvertidos, es mejor no decir la frase: “Sin comentarios”. Por lo general, la gente concluye que quien da esa respuesta es culpable. Si no sabe la respuesta, diga con sinceridad: “No lo sé”. Y si le hacen una afirmación negativa, no la repita. Responda de manera positiva con un comentario breve y vuelva enseguida al tema del que quiere hablar.

Ejemplo 1. Un reportero pregunta: “¿Por qué hay tanta gente que les tiene antipatía a los testigos de Jehová?”. Una respuesta positiva sería: “Los testigos de Jehová somos personas pacíficas que respetamos la ley y que nos esforzamos por ser ciudadanos ejemplares y buenos vecinos en nuestra comunidad. Aunque algunas personas no concuerden del todo con nuestras creencias, imitamos a Jesús llevándoles nuestro mensaje positivo, y el programa de la asamblea explica las razones”.

Ejemplo 2. Un periodista pregunta: “¿Qué nos puede decir sobre lo que algunos ex miembros de su religión están diciendo en el exterior del local?”. Lo mejor es contestar algo positivo como: “Respetamos el derecho de los demás a tener su propia opinión. Pero nosotros estamos reunidos aquí para aprender cómo fortalecer nuestra relación personal con Dios”. Dirija nuevamente la atención a la asamblea.

Ejemplo 3. Si le preguntan sobre 1975, podría decir: “Los Testigos de Jehová esperamos ansiosos el cumplimiento de las profecías bíblicas. Y aunque reconocemos que no sabemos la fecha exacta en la que se producirán esos sucesos, nos mantenemos a la expectativa, pues eso es lo que Jesús les aconsejó a sus discípulos que hicieran”. Entonces el hermano puede dirigir de nuevo la conversación hacia la asamblea. Si el entrevistador alude a ciertas personas implicadas en casos judiciales de la congregación, usted nunca debe acceder a hablar de ellas ni a dar opiniones basadas en casos hipotéticos. Tenga mucho cuidado con los programas en los que llama el público y con los programas informales de entrevistas. Evite programas que fomentan la controversia. Esté alerta para darse cuenta enseguida de si una entrevista empieza a convertirse en una discusión o en una tergiversación de los hechos, lo cual proyectaría una imagen negativa de nosotros. i don't see this posted elsewhere, and i don't have the links besides this facebook one.. but here is a 45-minute long bethel talk about the changes at bethel including addressing the hard feelings of people who were given the axe.

basically, everything must change.

we gave remaining bethelites saturday off to do our bidding in "the field" and we give bethelites over 70 an extra day a week off (if you can find any such bethelites).

I hope it backfires. I hope Congregation donations go bust as everyone uses their extra cash to personally help support the elderly couples dumped on them like used trash. Hand them the money or use Xtra to write a check for their gas and electric. Nothing goes into the box for Bethel. There's no one there anyway.

I do that with certain "charities" ... cut out the middle man so much more than .10 of every dollar goes to the person in need.

My goodness. They no longer want to be bothered with the oldz. Now boot them to Congregations which will be expected to take further care of them. I can just imagine some of the medical costs, food, shelter, general bills (electric etc) for elderly who are ineligible for SS benefits. Most have no children. No real savings.

It's a task trying to make certain of your own elderly relatives well being with low paying jobs. Now throw some more on everyone.

Is not the DOs not being serf enough to cut their own grass outside their free house or pay their own laundry costs not enough to burden everyone with?

My brother died last night

i found out this morning that my brother died last night, he was also an ex jw, 73 years old and died of heart disease and kidney failure.

it was not totally unexpected, as he had been in poor health, but it's a blow, especially as i just lost another brother two years ago.

there were six of us, now only four.

The two paths of exJWs

it's easy to think of exjws as being a single amorphous group but the more i think about it, the more i believe that there are two distinct sub-groups and wonder if you agree.. there are those who believe and those who don't.

i know that seems obvious but let's break it down a bit more.

there are those who don't and never believed and some who are looking for a religion to match their beliefs.. i used to think this split would be between born-ins and converts but of course it's possible for born-ins to be believers although i suspect that many, like with other faiths, do so simply because they have never experienced anything else or made a conscious choice.

epica- european project for ice coring in antarctica.. kind of old news but fascinating.

over the last 10 years or so, this organisation has analysed ice core samples taken from antarctica.

drilling more than 3000 metres into the permafrost, they produced the longest, continuous record of earths climate extending back almost 800 000 years.

Hmmmm....

One problem when it comes to JWs is they have been led to believe salvation (surviving the big A) comes through works; while the Bible says it comes through faith .... and you can do nothing to earn' salvation. It's a gift.

Ephesians 2:8-9 NET

For by grace you are saved through faith, and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God; [9] it is not from works, so that no one can boast.

"Do more, do more, do more, or else you won't make it". Well, it doesn't work like that. Stop burdening and mentally torturing people with your unscriptual duties rules and insanity.
