Reading the book of Enoch found some gems.

first off the book of enoch or at least some of it's writings we're found among the dead sea scrolls.

this to me proves that this book was as important to the jews back then as any other.

in the book a few things i noticed.

These missing or omitted texts make me wonder.

1. At the writing of revelation, Christians are on the run AWAY from Roman territories. The 7 congregations mentioned are all in what's now Turkey.

2. How the hell does the supposed 'Bishops' all end up waltzing around Rome itself to vote on what's going to be Bible canon, while everyone is still on the run???

3. Missing texts are missing because those who chose had no business choosing. It seems they were neither Jews nor Christians.

Another good book mentioned in a question to Jesus is Tobit. (The lady with the 7 husbands). Without basic knowledge of it, you have no idea why they pose such a question.

Ancient peoples had similar beliefs because it's been proven that humans spread out from one main region. Of course, they simply took those beliefs with them as they spread out ... no matter the language, it doesn't make one groups beliefs any older than another. The beginning of it is the same.

What's different is which group developed script to write it down first.

Is the religion of Jehovah's Witnesses really an inferior form of Christianity?

seems to be quite a few posters recently pulling down the beliefs of jw's as not biblical or truly christian.

maybe you're right, maybe you're wrong, i really don't care.. in some important ways though mainstream christians often behave better than jehovah's witnesses; most don't practice shunning or impose lethal medical prohibitions on their members.

many are far more tolerant of the lgbt community and a few even make the awkward attempt to square the fact of evolution with their faith.. please note that i'm saying some, not all.. so i suppose it's fair to say that differing forms of christianity can be better or worse for individuals, families and the wider community.

Inferior ... yes. As a form of Christianity. The lack of true charity towards other people, the lack of true brotherly love, shunning those who have not sinned against them, asking those of lesser means for money, etc. The big kicker is professing to be Christian while wholeheartedly sidelining Christ & replacing him with unworthy men.

I would say, JWs are followers of Saul, rather than Christ. Far too Mosaic Code to be Christian. They figuratively hunt and "kill" those of their brethren who may disagree. So, yes, that makes them inferior.

Also, they only have one celebration which is anything but a celebration. It's a depressing funeral ceremony (not a joyful wake/memorial).

i intend for this to be one of a series of bite-sized ops on the evidence for evolution.. introduction to dna genes are sequences of dna made up of words (codons) each of which are three letters (bases) long.

there are only four letters in the genetic alphabet (acg&t) each word or codon is the recipe for one amino acid.

there are 20 different amino acids in living organisms.

I don't believe humans evolved from animals. Why? Because animals don't destroy their environment, animals aren't greedy, nor do they or smoke crack then go knock over a liquor store. Humans are worse than animals. Humans are more akin to viruses and locusts then animals.

the corporation is now giving many of you what you agreed to - a life of real poverty!.

your poverty outside of bethel is a wee bit different from the poverty in "satan's world" - where you've just been thrown to fend for yourselves.

Well, it does say they're "servants of Jehovahs Witnesses", not servants of Jehovah or even Christ... so ... their bad.

CO's never say thank you for the green handshakes

ever noticed how co's and ex-do's never say thank you for the hard earned money they get from the friends?

they truly believe they are entitled to live an easy life at the expense of others.

this makes my blood boil!

I never gave them any money. Christ, the Apostles, et al didn't mooch. They had regular jobs and supported themselves.

"Leaders" don't mooch, CO's, DOs considered themselves 'leaders'. They certainly didn't consider themselves everyone else's equal.

Need more funds, ask for a raise from the mothership.

It's no different from the RCC. It excuses men while punishing women.

God didn't allow Adam to get away with blaming Eve for their shit, nor was Adam given lesser punishment.

Besides, you don't need to ask forgiveness of any human but the one involved in your offense. Uninvolved third parties are irrelevant, unless you refuse to apologize.

Half of the cong was dancing last night

so went to the meeting last night.

i had not been to one since before the holiday break (3 weeks ago).

besides, it was our first meeting in the new format.

That's good to hear. Singing praises is supposed to be joyous not melancholy like your at a friggin funeral.

No one was ever happy because the entire environment was constantly depressing, including that sad sad organ (funeral) music.

I really like what Russell said.

The problem with JWs is they are not searching for "truth" because they claim to have already found it. For them the truth was just a lost set of keys now laying on the table. However, their keys keep changing.
