  Does Anyone Still Believe in God?

  do any of you ex-jw's still believe in god?

  even with the new rebranding/softening of this religion, i still don't see how people can believe in him.

  the god of the old testimate is an angry murderer who approved rapes and slavery and killed thousands of men, women and children.

  If people,want to believe in gods, ancestral spirits or reincarnation - fine. Just don't force it on others.

  why am I an athiest? Simply because no supernatural entity has ever answered a simple question for me. For morality great role models and common sense answered those questions. For everything else science answered those questions and continues to do so. Those who put their noses up to science pick and choose which parts of science suits them to trust. I trust science because it expects nothing more from me than for me to question, learn, study and draw conclusions which I am allowed to change with new evidence - the exact opposite of "belief" or "adherence". There simply is nothing else in life which offers what science does for improving this planet and it certainly is my opinion that the only option for this planet's salvation is science. So why bother with anything else when it comes to matters of our survival or progress? Science does not disappoint - humans do. Yes, you could say science is my god because it does heal, fix, enlighten and it offers the best prospects for a better future - no diety has done for man what science has. EVER.

  My Mom Is Dying

  i just wanted to say that my dear 89 year old mom is terminally ill and will soon pass.

  she is on morphine and hanging on.

  she has been a devout witness for about 60 years and a wonderful mother.

  My condolences. You must have a lot of awesome memories from a close and loving 89 year relationship. Even though my dad, grandfather and father-in-law are gone, their advice, example and strong characters still serve me well almost every day. Great parents give one an example to follow and even in their absence one feels like it's still possible to disappoint them and strive to avoid that.

  If Jehovah's Witnesses go some more in the same direction

  jws made a diligent study on teachings that have pagan origin and found christendom as being mostly built on pagan teachings, hence keep distance from them all.

  so far so good.

  now, if jws continue in the same direction, they will find virtually everything in the bible as borrowed from pagansstarting from six-staged creation account, and devil (ahriman) making the first man and woman fall (which is from zoroastrianism) to the messiah restoring what has been lost (which is found in many mythologies).

  Almost 60 years ago, The Watchtower made a prediction that has proven to be amazingly accurate.

  i haven't posted for quite awhile, just usually lurk, but thought surely someone would have noticed this on jw.org.

  this was under the article about distractions.

  i clicked on the article and below is the "accurate" prediction that the wt made back in 1958. this has to prove they have jehovah's backing, don't you think?

  Large Increase in Trolley Witnessing

  when the org implements its bethelite "genocide" and demotes many members of the "worldwide order of special full-time servants of jehovahs witnesses" into lowly regular pioneers, many more trollies will have to be found in order for such ones to rack up their required monthly hours.. how many are actually going to be shocked by this into waking up?

  Perhaps while they're flipping burgers at McDonalds they could offer magazines with every purchase as a promotion:

  1) An McAwake mag with every Chicken McNugget

  2) A McWatchtower with every Big Mac

  3) A McMy Book of Bible Stories with every Happy Meal

  Then the customer get's the chance to tell them "Cool now I can wipe my ass with pages from your McAwake after I've left a few McNuggets floating in your McToilet."

  help me to readjust my thinking about my hypocritical ex....

  i am really struggling with this particular situation in my life, and i really need your help to readjust my thinking.

  i am recently divorced from my ex-jw husband.

  we were both disfellowshipped at around the same time about 2-3years ago.

  My advice: forget about what he's doing with his life and concentrate on getting yours to a place where you'll be happy. Learn to be happy and secure on your own and take each day as a new lesson and experience as you advance towards your goals - just don't expect your life to change to amazing overnight - adjustments like this take time but you'll reap the long term rewards. Go out, relax, have fun and concentrate on yourself and kids and forget about him.

  What makes WT think they can reassign Bethel volunteers to be Regular Pioneers.

  when the gb cuts loose 1600 volunteers, what makes them think they can continue telling them how they will spend their time?

  i've read on many of these threads that the 1600 will be reassigned.

  what, are they still under some sort of contract?.

  What those terrible worldly people are doing

  yesterday there was a horrific crash on a bridge here in seattle.

  a dukw (wwii amphibious truck) tourist cruise lost control and hit a charter bus full of exchange students head on.

  four dead and about a dozen seriously wounded, many more in less critical condition.yesterday, canlis restaurant, located near the scene and one of the most exclusive eateries in seattle, closed for the first time in its 65 year history and sent out its staff with food for the first responders.

  Weird. On our recent vacation we were just on one of those DUKW tours. Nice tour. Seattle is a beautiful city. I understand one cannot accurately guage the temperament of a population by only spending a day and a night among them, but on our short visit my wife and I found Seattle people to be awesome. Folks were drunk and high at a waterside park near the public market and everyone was cool and chill. Had that been New York City I would bet you there would have been fights, I know - we've seen it many times.
