Exodus- Ridley Scott film
by Diogenesister inhi all, any thoughts on the ridley scott film exodus :gods and kings my people?
generally, its more or less as i would envision it.. love the representation of gods spirit/angel as a child of ?10 - great age, they have not lost their innocence but are aware of the dark side of life, question everything are bitingly honest in their assesments and you can often have surprisingly adult conversations with them.
of course in all this they are often very very funny(i may be biased as my kids are this age!!!).

I watched it for pure entertainment and I was curious to see how well the plagues would be portrayed with CG effects. I did enjoy the mood of the movie and as JWS stated, using a spoiled brat kid as the manifestation of the desert god was classic.
I thought as entertainment value it was fairly decent.

Islam is the Epitome of Misogyny
by cofty inin this video the popular saudi cleric sheik yahya al-jana discusses the joys of paradise, saying that men will have the strength of a hundred men in paradise and will be busy tearing hymens, while the virgins of paradise, whose breasts are like pomegranates, become virgins every time again.. the cleric also explains it is mostly men who enter paradise noting that women in general are bad because they refuse to wear the veil, they wear tight clothes in shopping malls, put on perfume and jewelry, and use filthy social media platforms.
source.... this is what young men from conservative muslim families are raised on.
is it any wonder islamic countries treat women appallingly?.

LOL OC: exactly and typical stand up bullshit. Note he also never approached the topic of Islam - just Arabs. I always laugh at stand-ups constantly tearing into Christianity which I love but it gets old. When they have the gall to claim they use comedy as a means of activism or to force us to take a hard look at ourselves and society I instantly switch off unless I know they have no bias and actually have to the balls to pick on Islam - otherwise they're spineless gits picking on the easy target - don't try and act like some super social justice warrior when clearly you just pick subjects that won't upset the popularity you enjoy with fans who share your same opinions.
LUHE:
lol you're quick on that kyboard today :P

People like to jump all over Islam for what they teach, but we don't jump all over the Old Testament for teaching that are very similar.
I have to disagree particularly in the case of the USA where political correctness will mostly ensure the topic of Islam is avoided at all costs while Christianity is a well accept and encouraged target. All you have to do is look at the religious material of stand up comics - by far most of them see it as open season on Christianity but don't come near the subject of Islam. I don't blame them either. Christians are less likely to hold demonstrations in protest or put a price on your head. Both should be picked apart equally. -

I got up yesterday morning (Saturday) and enjoyed the watchtower work
by Zoos inreaching the fire watchtower on top of wayah bald overlooking the smokey mountains can be a difficult hike from nantahala lake up the bartram and appalachian trails where they straddle each other passing through this area.
the most enjoyable watchtower work i've ever participated in.. the views from the tower are spectacular.. .
looking across nantahala forest to the smoky mountains, described poetically as the most elevated peak; from whence i beheld with rapture and astonishment, a sublimely awful scene of power and magnificence, a world of mountains piled upon mountains.

The entire Appalachian Trail is on the books for the wife and I one of these days. So far we have only done small pieces of it.
Absolutely beautiful view you had there and I have noted this area. Thank you!

The Old Age

Wow another brick pretending to have valid arguments.
When scientists make mistakes or deliberately feed misinformation, it never stays that way. Science is not about people or their prejudices. Science does not doggedly stick to a theory after it has been disproved - theories are disproved by others in search of the same or similar answers, those mistakes are proven by other scientists. The fact that mistakes were made does not magically become evident to us.
Science consists of a diverse field of experts all bouncing hypothesis, theory and fact off each other in order to further their understanding - period. Proving hundreds of scientists made scientific errors does not disqualify science as a ligitimate means of solving problems, finding answers or establishing fact. Science has nothing to do with trying prove itself for its unanimous acceptance by people. Either you accept the knowledge it provides or you do not. Either you trust science as a FIELD dedicated to the pursuit of knowledge and understanding or you do not - simple as that.
If a seat belt malfuntioned for several people despite them being globally accepted as life savers, would you refuse to wear sealt belts even after those malfunctions were corrected?

Witnesses - Ever Wondered Why You're So Tired After Assemblies/Meetings?
by The Searcher inrecently shared this with me.. they compared the tiredness they felt after attending an assembly and meetings, and noted how much worse it was than actually working and studying hard for hours for their secular employment!
why were they so exhausted after an assembly/meeting?
no, it wasn't satan.

Funny. After all this time I was under the impression my exhaustion was due to listening to hours of boring bullshit. -

Hello Sankara and welcome!
I was born and raised in South Africa but have been in the USA since 1997. I was assigned to a Job in Lagos for Mohammed Indimi in 1999. I must say, I Really enjoyed the music and food there. The people in Lagos were having a bit of a rough time when I was there. How is Lagos nowadays?
